Warning: “Reasonable Doubt” Season 2 finale spoilers ahead.
“Reasonable Doubt” creator, executive producer and showrunner Raamla Mohamed unpacked the “raw” ending to Hulu/Onyx Collective’s hit legal drama’s second season, and the dramatic cliffhanger that sets up storylines for Season 3.
Fans can finally put their thumbs to rest and stop tweeting “free Shanelle,” as Jax Stewart’s (Emayatzy Corinealdi) bestie has officially been released from prison, thanks to District Attorney Lucy Wargo (Melissa Ponzio). Like last season, “Reasonable Doubt” didn’t hold back.
With domestic and intimate partner violence awareness being one of the focal points of Season 2’s messaging, trigger warnings were shown ahead of each episode. However, a much lengthier caution preceded Episode 10: “Encore,” which starts by showing the brutal altercation between Shanelle (Shannon Kane) and Jt in its entirety for the first time: no music, just dialogue. The sequence closes out to reveal Jt’s...

Kerry Washington shared her thoughts about how the TV industry works in 2024, and she’s not impressed with how quickly shows are scrapped.
The 47-year-old actress referenced the decision to cancel her show Unprisoned, which she starred in and executive produce, after only two seasons.
While attending the Bloomberg Screentime Conference in Los Angeles, she compared the series to her massive hit Scandal, which took almost two seasons to take off. Of course, it then became a global sensation.

Just weeks after “UnPrisoned” was canceled after two seasons on Hulu, Kerry Washington sounded off on shows getting axed “before they even [have] a runway” to find an audience.

As “Reasonable Doubt’s” Jax Stewart becomes the newest Black woman lawyer to grace our television screens, TheWrap wanted to take a trip down memory lane by listing the most iconic Black woman TV lawyers our time.
For fans, these roles may just be the characters we show up to watch in our favorite shows weekly, but for the actresses that play them and the writers that write them, their existence has impacted on-screen representation for Black women as well as the careers of Black Hollywood actresses.
That rings true for Kerry Washington’s role in “Scandal.” While we primarily recognize Olivia Pope as a crisis manager in the series, she was a former lawyer who often exhibited those tactics from her legal career. Until Washington signed on for the role — which ABC originally suggested a non-Black actress take — there hadn’t been a drama series with a leading Black woman on TV for 37 years.

Exclusive: Emmy Award-winning actor Joe Morton and Catherine Tate have joined the Fox Entertainment comedy series Going Dutch cast in heavily recurring roles opposite series star and executive producer Denis Leary.
The single-cam comedy follows arrogant loudmouth U.S. Army “Colonel Patrick Quinn” (Leary), who after an epically unfiltered rant, is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world. After serving with distinction in every warzone of the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, no weapons, and no tactical purpose.

Fans of "Grey's Anatomy" were shocked when, partway through season 11 of Shonda Rhimes' long-running medical drama, Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd — played by Patrick Dempsey — died on-screen, with his secret girlfriend-turned-wife Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) by his side. First introduced as a one night stand who turns out to be Meredith's boss in the show's inaugural season (all the way back in 2005 when the series premiered as a humble mid-season replacement), Derek turns out to be one of the most important characters on the series as a brilliant, world-class neurosurgeon who woos his first-year intern (Meredith), only for the show to reveal that he had an estranged wife all along.
Throughout the series, Meredith and Derek battle ups and downs and date other people and argue about their future until, finally, they get married (on a Post-It), adopt a child and have two more, becoming a happy family. So, what could go wrong?...

Jennifer Lawrence has endorsed Kamala Harris for president, citing the vice president’s position on reproductive rights.

Lawrence is executive producer of the documentary Zurawski v Texas, about the challenge to that state’s abortion ban. Hillary and Chelsea Clinton are also executive producers.
Lawrence is the latest in a line of celebrity endorsements for Harris, a list that includes Taylor Swift and Oprah Winfrey. The cast of Scandal, among other figures, took part in a recent Harris campaign bus tour focused on abortion rights.

Amazon enthusiastically announced the Sept. 19 release date for A Very Royal Scandal with the declaration, “The critically acclaimed A Very … Scandal anthology is back!”

Does your average television viewer even accept the existence of the A Very Dot Dot Dot Scandal franchise? For decades, the British Royal Family managed to maintain a certain mystique and allure. Tabloid fodder and salacious stories leaked occasionally, but in the 1990s, the scandals surrounding Princess Diana and King Charles’ marriage almost caused the entire enterprise to collapse. However, the royals seemed to hit new heights in popularity in 2018 when Prince Harry married Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Yet, just a few short years later, it all crumbled. Queen Elizabeth II was ailing, Prince Harry and Meghan exited the royal family and Prince Andrew’s long relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced. Created by Jeremy Brock, Prime Video’s limited series “A Very Royal Scandal” is a frank and engaging examination of the shocking interview between Prince Andrew (Michael Sheen) and journalist Emily Maitlis (Ruth Wilson) that would lead to the Duke of York’s ousting from public life and define Maitlis’ career.

“The West Wing” cast members reunited on stage at the Emmys Sunday night in honor of the show’s 25th anniversary next week.
Stars Martin Sheen, Allison Janney, Dulé Hill, Janel Moloney and Richard Schiff were all on stage during the ceremony to present the award for best drama series.
Although it was a brief segment, the cast appeared on a replica of the set. They also poked fun at the modern political climate.
“It’s hard to believe that just 25 years ago, [creator] Aaron [Sorkin] and the writers actually had to use their imaginations to create interesting plotlines for ‘The West Wing,'” Janney quipped.
“Unlike today, where storylines could be plucked right off the news — storylines that writers would have deemed a bit far-fetched, if not utterly ridiculous, 25 years ago,” Schiff added.

The Big Bang Theory was filled with quirky science, nerdy humor, and iconic friendships, but not every storyline was a winner. In fact, one particular plot involving Johnny Galecki’s Leonard felt like a real Hail Mary, and nope, just not in a good way. Despite being the lovable underdog, Leonard was often thrown under the bus—demeaned, overlooked, and overshadowed.

But one storyline took it to the next level, making fans cringe at how his character was treated. It was like watching your favorite player get benched for no reason. Steelers’ Russell Wilson, anyone? Okay, let’s explore how the writers fumbled with Leonard’s arc and why it left such a sour taste in the mouths of fans everywhere. Because, seriously—Leonard deserved way better!

Brenda Song may have made a name for herself on the Disney Channel in the early 2000s. But the actress has since moved on from her role as London Tipton in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. However, as is common with child stars, transitioning into adult roles proved to be rather challenging. The 36-year-old’s re-entry into Hollywood came at a surprising juncture in her life, with the influence of an unexpected individual playing a crucial role—Gia Coppola.

Since it first hit theaters in 1975, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" has been a spooky season mainstay and a staple for late-night moviegoers. Based on the stage musical of the same name — which came out two years prior — the cult classic introduces a young couple, Janet Weiss and Brad Majors (Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick), whose car breaks down near a mysterious mansion; when they call on the house to ask for help, they're met by a fascinating cast of characters, to say the absolute least.
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is referred to as a "cult classic" for a reason; as Roger Ebert once put it, "it was ignored by pretty much everyone" when it originally came out. These days, pretty much every major city offers midnight viewings of the movie, inviting audiences to dress up, throw things at the screen, and participate while the movie screens. So what...

From the DNC to the U.S. Open, Tony Goldwyn is definitely having a moment.
The longtime actor/director made a big splash Sunday night in Arthur Ashe stadium, where he reunited with fellow Scandal stars Bellamy Young, Scott Foley, Katie Lowes and Jeff Perry to take in a little tennis with old boss Shonda Rhimes.
His appearance didn’t go unnoticed by U.S. player Frances Tiafoe, who used his interview time after his winning match to give a shout-out to Goldwyn for playing President Fitzgerald Grant on the ABC drama. Tiafoe, who beat Australia’s Alexi Popyrin, is headed to the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
“Yo, I’m a huge fan of you, bro,” said Tiafoe from the court. “Me and my girl used to watch Scandal all the time.”
The camera then pans to Goldwyn, who’s clearly enjoying the moment with Young and Perry.

Some towns, awash in money and power, need insiders to make sure it doesn’t all go haywire. It might be politely described as being a crisis manager, but we all know them as fixers. A place like Washington D.C. needs them. Witness Olivia Pope (played by Kerry Washington) who helped President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) win office in ABC’s Scandal. There’s also Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) putting out the fires for Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) on Netflix’s House of Cards, guiding his crooked rise from House Whip to VP and then to President. Los Angeles needs them, too. Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber) made sure Tinsel Town kept the movies and TV shows on track by covering up the misdeeds of producers and actors. Even a sleepier town like Albuquerque needs them, especially to protect the proceeds of the drug trade like Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks...

The DNC in Chicago took an unexpected turn Thursday night when two stars of the hit TV show Scandal made a surprise appearance during the lead-up to the vice president’s acceptance of the party’s presidential nomination.
Kerry Washington, who hosted the evening’s events, delivered a rousing speech that drew parallels between the show’s fictional world of political crisis management and the real-world challenges facing American democracy.
“You are the fixers,” Washington told the enthusiastic crowd, invoking her character Olivia Pope from the popular ABC drama. She emphasized the power of individual voters in shaping the country’s future, urging them to encourage their friends and family to participate in the electoral process.

Shonda Rhimes is one of the leading showrunners in modern television. She has created such hits as Grey's Anatomy and Scandal. Rhimes is equally at home with stories about ordinary people (doctors and firefighters) as she is with stories about unusual professions.
In 2014, she proved her mastery of dramas about lawyers with the release of How to Get Away with Murder, which has been picked up for a total of six seasons.
What is How to Get Away with Murder About?
Annalise Keating is an experienced lawyer whose criminal law course at Middleton University always "sells out." The reason for its popularity is simple: she focuses on courtroom practice.
Her classes use only real cases from Keating's clients, and every student has a chance to influence the outcome of an ongoing trial. Future lawyers skip other classes, stay up all night, and cheat. They are willing to do anything to get the teacher's attention.

The Democratic National Convention delighted Scandal fans everywhere when it announced that Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn would be among the week’s lineup of nightly Hollywood hosts.
The pair played out having proximity to the White House onscreen when they starred opposite each other as Washington, D.C., fixer Olivia Pope and President Fitzgerald “Fitz” Grant on Shonda Rhimes’ hit ABC political drama that ran for seven seasons. But in real life, the actors have become vocal political activists for the Democratic party.
Goldwyn was set as the opening night host, with Washington readying to host the final night, when Vice President Kamala Harris would officially accept the Democratic party’s nomination for the 2024 presidential race.

There’s something compelling about the allure of nostalgia. And the Democratic National Convention, as it prepares to, Thursday night, usher in a candidate whose entire purpose has been to change the conversation, has defaulted, a bit, to reflecting on past glories.
Vice President Kamala Harris’ rallying cry, since she replaced President Joe Biden as the Democrats’ standard-bearer, has been “We’re not going back.” Her meaning is well-taken — the nation, in her view, ought not return to the days of the Trump presidency. The convention built around her and buttressed with figures from Democratic Party history, though, has seemed built around a different catchphrase. It has so far recalled the famous line from the drama “Lost” — “We have to go back!”
There’s nothing unusual about packing a political convention with former potentates from the party. It’s meant, in part, as a celebration of past glories that might be reclaimed.

Joe Biden took the stage as the final speaker at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday night, with more than three minutes of applause and frequent chants of “We love Joe” from the audience. The 49-minute speech ran long during a night that was already behind schedule.
During the speech, audience members unfurled a banner reading “Stop arming Israel,” several attendees reported, and other people tried to rip the banner away. The disruption didn’t cause much of a ripple due to the vast size of the arena.
“We are in the battle for the very soul of America,” Biden said, reciting a long list of his administration’s accomplishments in infrastructure, health care, climate, jobs and manufacturing. “Union Joe,” chanted the audience as Biden spoke of his union support.

Remember what political and cultural discourse was like before everything revolved around figuring out how a cruel dilettante from Queens managed to become president of the United States? I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately with the rise of the presidential campaign of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Finally, we’ve got other stuff to talk about in pop culture and politics besides The Apprentice and The Art of the Deal.
The Harris-Walz ticket has reinvigorated a need for broad cultural literacy. Harris began her presidential campaign with...

The historic presidential run of Vice President Kamala Harris is “Tgit-coded,” TikToker Kimberly Mykel said in a video shared in a reaction video duet by “Scandal” star Kerry Washington on Saturday. The actress captioned the clip, “In Shonda we trust.” Tgit is a reference to “Thank God It’s Thursday” — the night that Rhimes’ shows historically all aired on ABC.
The parallels between Harris and Washington’s own Olivia Pope from “Scandal” are five-fold, Mykel explained. “I just wanted to come on here and thank Shonda Rhimes, first and foremost, because she prepared America for a woman like Kamala Harris,” Mykel began.
“Because Kamala is very Tgit-coded if we really want to clock it. You know what I mean?” Mykel continued. “Like, she’s always got a blowout. She’s married to a white man. She’s a lawyer. She doesn’t have children of her own, although she is a stepmother.

Eric Trump called Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “spoiled apples” and reiterated what his father, Donald Trump, said: “The Duke of Sussex could be deported if his father becomes President.”
Eric Trump Said Harry And Meghan Are “Spoiled Apples”
Harry is thought to have lied about his past drug use on his visa form. Trump’s son had some choice words about Harry and Meghan:
He said.
“You can happily have those two (referring to Britain taking Harry and Meghan back). We might not want them anymore; it feels like they are on an island of their own,”
Trump continued,
“You can always have bad actors in everything. You can have spoiled apples in every orchard.”
” He explained that his mother, Ivana Trump, was close to Princess Diana and that he and his father are major supporters of the UK and the royal family.”
He called the monarchy.
“a great institution.

The 1980s are often viewed as a pop cultural wasteland: a post-disco, style-over-substance hellscape where music videos turned vacuous bands and singers into chart-topping titans, blockbuster-chasing executives drained films of personality and artistic merit, and television pandered to a benumbed viewership with hacky sitcoms, formula dramas, and risible nighttime soaps. This was only half-true.
There was a good bit of dreck polluting the multiplexes and the airwaves throughout the eight-year Reagan era (and the Bush I hangover), but you'd have to be a killjoy to have lived through that time and turned up your nose at the bevy of brilliant artists who were working at their absolute peak. Prince, Spielberg, Streep, Selleck ... yes, Selleck. Tom Selleck.
For eight immensely entertaining seasons, Tom Selleck was the handsomest, charmingest, mustachioed-est private detective on television as Magnum P.I. The creation of small-screen hit makers Donald P. Bellisario and Glen A. Larson, the...
