The message shown when Kang ends a call to the command center is different every time. The first time, it says "P.E.O.C. Terminated Communication", the second time it's "Communication Terminated", and the third time, "Communication Terminated By The White House: P.E.O.C.".
When Morgan Freeman first appears on the news, he is introduced as Speaker Alex Trumbull. For the rest of the film, he is called Speaker Allan Trumbull.
Mike Banning's beard grows shorty after he has coffee with Secret Service Director Lynn Jacobs, and leaves a phone message to his wife.
Near the beginning of the movie, in the Presidential Limousine, the First Lady's seatbelt is on, then off, then on again.
(at around 1h 27 mins) Banning is seen with what looks like a Motorola Bluetooth. Later, (at around 1h 34 mins), he is seen with what looks like a Plantronics-type Bluetooth with a long-boom. A few minutes later he is back to the Motorola.
The intruding Gunship shoots down both planes sent to intercept it. In real life, to avoid incidents like that, one interceptor establishes visual contact with the intruder and flies beside him. The other plane flies behind the intruder to shoot him down if the first interceptor experiences hostile action.
When the South Korean premier arrives at the White House, a Secret Service agent greets him. Protocol dictates that he should be met by a member of the President's cabinet.
Since it's not protocol that no other then the President and his own members are allowed into the "bunker", the North Koreans took a hell of a chance that the president would allow them to do so. And also, that is not the President's decision. That decision is made by the agents and are strict that no one else are allowed access, and overrules the president's order in that matter, since they can not guarantee the safety of the President otherwise.
The Washington Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) extends 30 nautical miles into the Atlantic. NORAD would have intercepted the gunship well before it hit land.
When the AC130 gunship is shot down, it's called a "bogey," which is an unidentified contact. It was identified as a foe, so it should have been called a "Bandit."
Kang sends Dave Forbes to find and kill Mike Banning, while Kang has numerous other henchmen who could do the job. However, Banning didn't know Forbes was a spy/traitor, so Forbes is the perfect person (and Forbes almost succeeds in tricking/killing Banning).
In the hospital, a bloodied man is put in a wheelchair to be helped. His amputated left arm is obviously an old, well-healed amputation.
During the fly-by attack of the C-130, a sniper fires a bolt-action rifle continuously without cycling the action.
The White House is not nearly as bright white as depicted in the movie. The White House's front lawn is much deeper than depicted.
When the R.P.G is fired into the White House the three stunt men that are flung by the blast are clearly on wires. Not only do they fly through the air in a completely unnatural manner - they're quite obviously on wires - but two of the three men bounce upwards, towards the end of their fall, without ever touching the floor.
When the President's son is playing Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (2011) on his Playstation 3, the controller is turned off. When the TV is turned off he hits the power button the light on the controller comes on and you hear the "beep" as the PS3 powers up.
Dave Forbes lights a cigarette when he finds Banning. It is inconceivable that anyone trying to be covert would do something guaranteed to draw attention.
When the 7th Fleet is called back, footage is shown of an aircraft carrier, clearly marked 67. CV-67 was the USS John F. Kennedy which was retired in 2007 - six years before the movie was shot.
The White House Press Briefing Room at the end of the movie is in its pre-2007 configuration. The room was remodeled in 2007.
A caption on a TV news report reads "Southeast Asia On Brink Of War". Korea is in northeast Asia.
When Banning's wife watches the news with other medical staff, one staffer's white coat has the logo for North Louisiana Hospital. They are supposed to be in Washington D.C..
Mike hasn't been to the White House in 18 months, yet all of the lock codes are the same.
As the hooded and chained hostages walk towards the chopper, the sniper Hercules Six tries to figure out if the president is among them. Hostages number two and eleven obviously carry a handgun, yet the sniper does not mention that at all.
SPOILERS!
After the helicopter carrying terrorists and hostages crashes, Trumble and his team leave Mike to pursue his theory that Kang and the President are still alive. Surely the US military would storm the White House, no matter what theory anyone had.
The speaker of the house (Morgan Freeman) has to choose between leaving America vulnerable to nuclear attack and war in Korea or saving the president's life. He consciously chooses to save the president's life and allow nuclear war.
Soon after the machine-gun-equipped garbage trucks are deployed in front of the White House, police cars arrive and come to a halt in front of a row of risen bollards blocking the street. The wide angle shot reveals, though, that there are no bollards next to the street, so the police cars could have entered the conflict zone easily after all, probably even gaining an even more advantageous position in the process.
Kang uses the term "Sea of Japan". Koreans (both North and South) use the term "East Sea", as they find the term "Sea of Japan" offensive. A hardcore Korean nationalist like Kang would use the term "East Sea" as well.
Trained gunmen on both sides stand in clear view and make it convenient for the enemy to shoot them, ignoring nearby cover.
When everyone is assembled in the Situation Room, General Clegg states that they are now at DEFCON 4. The DEFCON system runs from 5 (peacetime) to 1 (war). General Clegg should have said that they were at DEFCON 2. However, DEFCON 4 means "increased intelligence watch and strengthened security measures"; DEFCON 2 means "next step to nuclear war." The White House would not be considering going to nuclear war without a clear assessment of the situation or knowing who is the enemy. (The US was at DEFCON 2 in the opening phase of Operation Desert Storm in January 1991, when the US knew precisely who was the enemy.)
When the two Korean terrorists destroy the security checkpoint buildings with RPGs, they stand directly behind each other. That is extremely dangerous due to the rockets' back blast.
In several shots, TV news programs show the "Whitehouse" instead of "White House".
