Thanks to breakout roles in the Scream revival, Netflix's Wednesday and this year's Beetlejuice sequel, Jenna Ortega is fast becoming one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood, so it probably won't come as much of a surprise to learn that she's being courted by Marvel Studios.
According to scooper Mttsh, Ortega is now in talks for an undisclosed Marvel Cinematic Universe role.
It's always worth noting that Marvel meets with a lot of talent, but if Ortega has actually entered negotiations for an upcoming project, there's a good chance the trades will get hold of the story before too long.
Even if she is in talks, there's no guarantee that things will work out. Ortega has a busy schedule ahead, with a lead role in Taika Waititi's Klara and the Sun adaptation, and an untitled Trey Edward Shults film that will co-star The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan.

Most of the single-location movies I have come across have aimed to thrill. Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope, Dial M for Murder, and Rear Window are some of the most beautifully crafted murder mysteries in existence. Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men, Murder on the Orient Express, and Dog Day Afternoon are dripping with tension and drama. The Shining, The Thing, Misery, Krampus, and The Hateful Eight have expertly used a wintery landscape to generate suspense and horror. Snakes on a Plane, Train to Busan, and Greyhound have turned entire vehicles themselves into battlegrounds for survival. And the list just goes on. So, yes, it’s a little hard to find a single-location film that doesn’t get your heart pumping and your mind racing because being stuck in one place is terrifying. That said, Rocky Walls’ Dirty Laundry is a real change of pace. Is it any good? Let’s find out.

Midnight at the Pera Palace is the story of a journalist named Esra who was a huge fan of Agatha Christie and, just like a true-blue detective, was curious about everything. Her nosiness led her to a lot of trouble. I would like to mention here that the writers have left a lot of things up to the speculation of the viewers when it comes to the sci-fi aspect of the show. Multiple theories could be formulated around the time-travel aspect and the cliffhanger the show ended on. So, let’s try to decipher how Esra went back to the past, the rules that governed the entire time travel phenomenon of this universe, the discoveries she made throughout the first season, and what we can expect from her in the future.
Spoiler Alert
How did Esra go back in time?

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now in theaters, and we're breaking down the long-awaited sequel's batsh*t crazy final act to see if the door to the Afterlife might be left open for a third movie.
Major spoilers follow.
When her daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega) is tricked into trading her soul to restore the ghost of murderous neighbour/love-interest Jeremy (Arthur Conti) to life, Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) reluctantly summons Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) for help. The Ghost with the Most agrees to bring Lydia to the Afterlife to rescue Astrid... if she'll sign a contract promising to be his bride.
Lydia manages to bring Astrid home, but has already agreed to marry Rory (Justin Theroux), who Betelgeuse exposes as a gold-digging cad. Still, the prospect of tying the knot with a lecherous demon isn't exactly appealing to Lydia, and Astrid manages to find a loophole which allows her mother out of the bargain.

Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is now in theaters, and, as fans hoped it would, the movie does explain what happened to the original film's protagonists.
Though Michael Keaton's titular Ghost with the Most was obviously the main attraction in Tim Burton's horror comedy classic, the main characters were actually Adam and Barbara Maitland (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis).
The recently married couple are killed in a car accident in the first few minutes of the movie, and their displaced spirits wind up summoning Betelgeuse in an effort to drive the new owners of their house (Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz and her family) away. Things don't exactly go according to plan, however.
Ultimately, Betelgeuse is banished, and the Deetzs and Maitlands agree to share the house.
Keaton, Ryder and Catherine O'Hara (who plays Lydia's mother) reprise their roles for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but Baldwin and Davis don't appear.

Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel to his cult classic, Beetlejuice, opens this weekend, and the movie is expected to have a ghoulishly good debut at the box office.
According to the latest estimates (via Deadline), Beetlejuice Beetlejuice should take in around $145 million worldwide (Warner Bros. is anticipating an $80M domestic bow). If this proves to be accurate, the sequel will debut with more than the lifetime gross of the original 1988 movie, which finished its run at $74.6M, unadjusted for inflation.
The chaotic horror comedy should also claim the spot from Marvel Studios' Deadpool and Wolverine, which - despite briefly being dethroned by Alien: Romulus - has remained at #1 for six weekends it's been in theaters.

Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award winning Beetlejuice.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was the opening film at this year’s Venice Film Festival and the sequel had a four minute standing ovation.
“There are so few opportunities to be in something that you can say is 100% original and unique,” said Keaton, who joked about his character’s evolution.
“I think my character has matured,” Keaton said. “As suave and sensitive as he was in the first, I think he’s even more so in this one.”
The early reviews are raving about the movie.
Deadline writes: “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is not clunky. Yes, there are plenty of animation joins that haven’t been smoothed over by CGI. Some of the props look like tat Burton bought in a flea market. But it also has a proper plot,...

Born in Stockholm in 1915, Ingrid Bergman was working in Swedish and German films during the 1930s, when one of her Swedish films, 1936’s “Intermezzo,” caught the eye of powerful Hollywood producer David O. Selznick. He announced that he planned to remake “Intermezzo” in English and would bring Bergman to Hollywood to star. The only problem was that Bergman didn’t speak English, but she turned out to be a fast learner, and the combination of her work ethic and her radiant beauty put Bergman well on her way to becoming an authentic movie star.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: First Clips Make It Clear That The Ghost With The Most Hasn't Changed A Bit
Tim Burton's Beetlejuice sequel arrives in theaters next month, and Warner Bros. has released the first two clips from the movie online.
The first drops us in on a family reunion between Delia Deetz (Catherine O'Hara), daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) and her kid Astrid (Jenna Ortega), who have returned to Winter River after the death of patriarch Charles (played by Jeffrey Jones in the original movie).
The next clip spotlights the Ghost with the Most himself (Michael Keaton), who is clearly still carrying a torch for Lydia - who was only 17 when they met.
This has always been one of the creepier plot points in the first movie, but anyone under the assumption that the lecherous Bio-Exorcist will be "evolving" with the times might be in for a bit of a shock.
"My whole career, there have always been people, like, 'This is too dark, which I never saw my films as dark,...

When looking at the reception they’ve received for “Blue Eye Samurai,” show creators Michael Green and Amber Noizumi see one recurring bit of flattery that really delights them. “One of the best compliments we’ve gotten is people keep asking us, where did you get the rights to the books and we have to remind them there were no books. We just thought of it. It was an idea Amber and I had been thinking of for a really long time,” Green reveals to Gold Derby during our recent web chat (watch the exclusive video interview above). The idea actually stemmed from when the couple had their daughter who they nicknamed Blue Eye Samurai after the features she had due to her being of mixed race. “We sat on the idea a long time, not sure quite what to do with it until, finally, the idea of doing it...

[Editor’s note: this list was originally published September 2023, and has since been updated.]
There was a time not too long ago when whodunnits seemed to be a dusty relic of cinema’s past. Mysteries about a cast of colorful characters at the center of a murder case, and the intrepid detective investigating them, were far and few between in movie theaters for what felt like decades, and the rare films to feature those plots seldom attracted much attention. But nowadays, the genre is back, baby.
In 2017, Kenneth Branagh directed and starred as the iconic detective Hercule Poirot in “Murder on the Orient Express,” based on one of mystery writer Agatha Christie’s most famous novels. It was the first high-profile Christie adaptation to hit theaters in ages, after 1988’s “Appointment with Death.” The movie was highly successful, and Branagh has returned to that Poirot mustache with “Death on the Nile” and “A Haunting in Venice,” the latter of which opened in theaters this month.

Fullmetal Alchemist’s Hiromu Arakawa, one of the greatest manga creators of all time, has never shied away from expressing her love for George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise. She has talked about it multiple times, but what Fullmetal Alchemist’s fans don’t know is that Arakawa is also a fan of another Lucas franchise that features Harrison Ford as the main character.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009) | Bones Inc.

With just a couple of months left before Tim Burton and Michael Keaton's long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrives in theaters, DC Comics has shared a slew of variant covers featuring the chaotic "bio-exorcist" invading the DC Universe.
These will begin rolling out next month and feature the sequel's title character crossing paths with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn.
However, the cover which has received the most attention is Beetlejuice looming large over Batman; it's not just any version of the Dark Knight, though! As we're sure you'll notice, that's the Batman played by Keaton in Burton's Batman and Batman Returns.
Here's when and where you'll find each of these variant covers:
Gotham City Sirens #2 - August 13 House of Secrets #92 (2024 Facsimile Edition) - August 21 Nightwing #117 - August 21 Superman #17 - August 21 Wonder Woman #12 - August 21 Batman #152 - September 4

Studios love a trendy needle drop in their trailers. The 2010s were especially fraught with movie previews set to Imagine Dragons tunes, which might have been single-handedly responsible for the band being unduly maligned and declared "the new Nickelback" by musicophiles. To celebrate the Sidney Lumet centennial, I reflected on the director's filmography and tried to surmise which of his films had the biggest impact on me. In retrospect, I wish that exercise led to one of his many masterpieces. Yet, to choose something like Dog Day Afternoon or Network would be dishonest. As much as I adore those pictures, they're not works I tend to revisit that often. Certainly not to the point where music cues, editing choices, singular line deliveries, and shot compositions are so ingrained in my mind that re-watching them is a jolt of muscle memory. You could call my relationship with the film what some folk feel for their favorite comfort foods.
When the mood is blue and the soul needs a pick-me-up, Lumet's 1974 adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express is a reliable treat, just frivolous and hearty enough to appease the spirit with whodunnit shenanigans.

Not every person lives boldly enough to achieve their dreams. Those who do, wish their dreams were powerful enough to move the world. Alfred Molina was gifted with both — the opportunity to not only pursue what he loved but also immortalize his work in cinematic history. Unfortunately, even for a celebrated icon of his caliber, Molina still missed out on the third and most tragic wish of all — the chance to make his parents proud.

Sidney Lumet was the Oscar-nominated director who proved incredibly prolific during his career, directing over 40 movies in 50 years, from his feature debut “12 Angry Men” (1957) through his cinematic farewell “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead” (2007). But how many of those titles remain classics? Let’s take a look back at 20 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born on June 25, 1924, Lumet got his start as a child actor, appearing in “One Third of a Nation” (1939) when he was 15 years old. After serving during WWII, he quickly began directing Off-Broadway plays before moving into the burgeoning medium of television, where he helmed hundreds of live teleplays. While working on episodes of “Playhouse 90,” “Kraft Theater” and many more, he honed his abilities to shoot quickly and economically.
His turned to movies with “12 Angry Men,” an adaptation of Reginald Rose‘s TV drama about a lone juror (Henry Fonda) holding out during a murder trial.

The story begins as a classic closed-circle whodunit when a celebrated author is murdered after his birthday celebration but then throws twist after twist at you, knocking you out.
Watch Knives Out on Netflix and Prime Video.
9. Death on the Nile (1978)
Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot is among the most famous fictional detectives of all time, and rightfully so. In Death on the Nile, Poirot’s peaceful cruise is shaken up by a murder of a rich newlywed heiress. Another Christie adaptation that’s in the works is the Netflix series The Seven Dials Mystery, which is set to star Mia McKenna-Bruce (How to Have Sex), Helena Bonham Carter (Fight Club), and Martin Freeman (Black Panther).

The film world is buzzing with both excitement and skepticism about Tinseltown’s beloved Johnny Depp’s forthcoming film, The Carnival at the End of Days. Fresh off the stir of his highly publicized court proceedings, the actor, 60, is set to embody a character as enigmatic as Satan in the Terry Gilliam-helmed flick.
So, The Carnival at the End of Days, which will also feature God, Adam, and Eve, is billed as an apocalyptic comedy by The Fisher King director. Also, note that this will be Depp’s re-entry into big-budget cinema after he settled his widely reported defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, two years ago.
