Another disappointment
The movie follows the story of a bullied high school girl who can speak to ghosts, an ability that brought distress to her life. It revolves around a derivative concept that could have worked if the other elements of the movies were decent. Alas, twenty minutes into the movie and not a single character were established leading one to not care about what would happen to the characters.
The poor writing and direction stretches towards the end of the movie with only the perfect ambient setting keeping everything together. The characters were unironically bland, idiotic, and, uninteresting to the point that their actions and lines stopped adding up in the most basic level of common sense as if the writers have no idea how human emotions work, it was a nightmare seeing those characters unravel the story like brainless puppets especially since no character developments were established.
Everything led to the revelation of the antagonist and the history of the haunted mansion which proved to be an utter disappointment. There were so many ways to enable a much more compelling and daunting story, yet they chose to go on the horror cliches and even made it much worse.
The only reason why I gave this movie 2 stars is because of the setting and atmosphere. Everything else is a disappointing disaster. I can't believe this was even nominated for awards, no wonder why Filipino horror movies suffer from a very low standard.

DISAPPOINTMENT
VERY BAD STORYLINE AND CHARACTERS. Wala man lang improvement, 2015 lumabas ang movie pero ang storyline very 90s. Haysss. Nakaka stress manood ng mga ganito, very predictable.
Better than I expected
I watched this on amazon prime and I really enjoyed it. It's a drama/thriller/horror/love story all in one. I thought the acting was very well done, especially the lead actress. You can tell the producers put some time and money into the making of this film. Production values were very good and I thought the script was more original than most of what is being passed off as a horror movie nowadays. I also really liked the ending, as it makes you think about what really just happened. I hope there will be a sequel. The only thing I found odd was they switched between speaking Tagalog and English a lot, so I had to turn on the subtitles. But that was fine.

It wasn't that bad. It was a proper horror film.
You may have seen another movie with the same title but this is not what you think it is. Haunted Mansion is produced by Regal Entertainment, the same one that produced the Shake, Rattle & Roll series which follows a 3-part format. But you will not see that here.
Though Haunted Mansion featured elements we have encountered before such as a character with third eye, black magic, and the title itself, the film gave viewers more than that. Director Jun Lana perfected all the elements in making a horror film a proper horror film especially the intense story build up.
