RED NET is about an internet video of a man chained to a chair, being interrogated / tortured by a hateful woman. The woman has a silent sidekick who wears a mask. They're sort of an eeevil female version of Penn and Teller. Being a "found footage"-type film, there's also someone recording everything.
This video is being watched by hackers who are trying to track down its origin.
At one point, the man is joined by a woman chained to a chair. They make a nice couple. Too bad she doesn't last long.
Who are these sadistic people? What do they want? Does it really matter?
The problem with this movie is that it's all about the violence. The actual "story" is rather dull. The talking between the characters makes our eyes glaze over, waiting for some heinous act to break it up. It doesn't help that the "action" takes place in various rooms, with the poor man sitting there like a lemon.
So, unless unnecessary dental procedures, or limbs broken by pool cues are your forte, this could be quite a distasteful slog! Personally, at one point, I found myself admiring the wood paneling, while the characters chattered on. It was knotty pine, I think.
EXTRA POINTS FOR: Surviving until the "double twist" finale. It too is boring...
