The plotline includes a patchwork of homages / 'dog' versions of famous ADULT live action 'prison' films as e.g. adults should recognise the solitary confinement 'slammer' bouncing ball of Steve McQueen from 'The Great Escape', Fronky the dachshund with his glasses á la Dustin Hoffman in 'Papillon' and most obviously, 'escape' wise, 'The Shawshank Redemption.
Stephen Hughes, who voiced several characters in the original English version (Ted, Mr. Robbins, and several supporting roles), voiced ALL of the reference voices for the animation in one marathon 3-hour session, changing voices and accents constantly.
The original version of the film was recorded in English, even though the creativity was Spanish. In a curious turnabout, Hollywood actress Elsa Pataky returned to her native tongue to dub Maddie, Ozzy's love interest, in the Spanish version of the film.
