The story was good, unexpected, but main character was kind of fake drama

Secrets always come out eventually - and when they do they often cause chaos and grief. If there's a moral to this story, that would probably be it. Arielle, played by a young actress named Sophia Lauchlin Hirt, is turning 16. Her mother left when she was 6 and she's been raised and home schooled in an isolated and lonely environment by her single father. Now, her only birthday wish is to see her mother. To her surprise, her mother shows up - and the result is the unbinding of family secrets.
The problem is that none of the secrets were really that earth-shattering for the most part, and the first hour or so of the movie moves along at a rather slow pace. You see the results of a broken family but not really much else. The movie does pick up in the last half hour, and there's a definite ratcheting up of the tension as it heads to its conclusion, but I'm even a bit reluctant to use the word "climax." I didn't think there was anything dramatic or shocking enough in the ending to justify the use of that word, and the ending really didn't give me any closure - it actually left me with questions as to what was actually happening in the movie.
The story is compelling enough that you watch it through to the end, even if it is a bit of a slow build up. Too many of the characters are left undeveloped, and Hirt herself, as the primary star, was all right but she didn't overwhelm me with her performance. It's basically an OK movie that you won't regret watching but that also isn't completely satisfying. (5/10)

This movie had so many shallow characters in it it was really disappointing . It SEEMS like it's a story about a father trying to raise his daughter after the wife / mother has died. I don't want to give too much away. The 'thriller' part of the movie is as the story slowly gets revealed. But the characters introduced just all seem worthless. It's really hard to feel much empathy for any of them. And the ending? Well....I guess I need that one explained to me. Cannot recommend it.

I keep waiting for something of substance to happen but.......nothing. You don't know much about the characters and what you do know doesn't make them any more likable.
What kind of mom leaves her child for years? Not a very good one.
Pass on this snore fest.

This is a extremely long, slow and pointless snooze fest. I can't imagine why this was listed as a Horror film and not a Drama Wannabe film.
It's just plain boring. Nothing and I do mean NOTHING ever happens.

Slow burn thriller that's compelling. Starts off, daughter coming of age gets visit from long lost mother. The father seems to have a hold over her.
You think is this one of those dead or not dead films, I wont give anything away you're just have to see how it plays out.
The ending reveals all the dirty secrets. Good Watch

This is for the person that posted a 1 star because he thinks this was listed as a horror film. Well you dumb jerk it is not listed as a horror at all! It's listed on as a thriller. THILLER!! Can you spell it for us? The movie wasn't bad at all. Really strong acting with a great script. Sorry to everyone else I am just tired of people bashing movies for reasons that make no sense.

If this is truly this director's premiere film then I am looking forward to seeing much more from her. This movie was engaging, tragic and brilliant! Go see it.

I read the reviews before watching and am glad that I did.
This movie wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either. I understand as a parent why the dad did what he did. I'm thinking the mom either had a mental illness or was just over being a parent.
What I didn't understand is why they felt the need to put a sex scene in with the daughter and the neighbor's nephew. It didn't add anything to the story and that time could have been used for something else in my opinion.
The acting was good, didn't know any of the actors and I'm ok with that. The actual filming or cinematography was fine as was the plot. I was able to follow along (maybe I've watched too many movies like this).
I enjoyed this movie. I just wish imd would change their ratings to 5 stars instead of 10. I would give it 4 stars, which means here I'd have to give it 8 lol.

There is 20 plots and 20 different outcomes which none of them are conveyed by the ending. This would make a great movie if you were very bored and would like time to take a nap.
