Nice depiction of our real war heros. Shows we too have our fare share of women warriers.

At first, hope this movie does not damage the old legends in any wrong way.
One of Kangana's best. Have seen her other movies and it is good to know that she is a multi-talented actress. Make-up and Costumes did not make the audience tired; also the graphics and stunts are at a good level.
Some have mentioned this movie has created an ordinary Queen as a Queen with superpowers. But when seeing the movie all I could think of her as a super Queen. Even without all that stunts, what she had done is outstanding. Her bravery, her courage, her confidence... of course she is a legendary person. Cannot understand what is so harmful when adding some sugar to praise such a great character.
Hope to see another good work soon.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi will raise your patriotic feelings and expand your chest to 56 inches or even more.
Kangana breathes Fire & Fury in her role as the iconic Rani of Jhansi! That she herself has directed the film (although not necessarily fully) puts her in a different league - with other actresses "looking up at her with awe"! LOL!
Story is not 100% true! Some portions might be fictional!
I'd have preferred a realistic presentation - without too much Glamour and Melodrama. Like in those dumb & glamorous TV serials...in this film too, ladies are wearing Make-ups at all times. Ridiculous!
Special effects are NOT that realistic, esp. the Cannon Balls banging on the walls of the Fort. It clearly looks artificial! Even the long trail of fire on the ground during the War looks artificial and the soldiers are clearly shown stepping on it. LOL!
Cinematography gives us a colourful canvas of visual splendour. The sets are Majestic and 100% Royal!
The acting of the English actors is poor! It looks very "stagey" and the dialogs contrived!
Finally, there is TOO much of Violence and explicit scenes of bodily injuries! Strange that no one is objecting to that! After all, this wonderful movie is for everyone. Therefore, such gory show of bodily harm should have been avoided altogether.
Why the hell is it ok to show explicit violence, but not Nudity and explicit Sex? Even if the latter is shown, the films gets "A". The same standard should be applicable to explicit Violence!

Kangana's brilliance is a slap on all haters. What intensity, what valour Kangana showed in this brilliant film, awestruck. After a long time enjoyed a film in the cinema this much, literally had goosebumps while watching this film. Only Kangana could have done this amazing acting and directing (70%) at the same time, no other actor male or female is on a par with Kangana Ranaut. She proved it once again that she is exceptional and on another level, sheer brilliance, prowess and aptitude. While watching the film, I couldn't see Kangana anywhere, only manikarnika, Jhansi ki Rani. Another national award definitely coming her way for sure.

The production of this film was a big mess. But still a good effort was made to portray Rani LaxmiBai's epic persona on Big Screen. Kangana leads the movie with a mighty performance, properly embracing the courage & rage of her. The dialogues are mostly well written except the parts where British officers speak. Some of the action scenes were done well, others were awful. Some songs were totally unnecessary, supporting actors didnt have much to do but the actors gave credible performances. Overall an above average movie.

Manikarnika has everything, but lacks the same intensity of direction almost for the first 40 minutes. It is noticeable, had this movie been in the hands of a more experienced director, this could have been improvised here and there. I cannot conclude that the movie hasn't much to offer the audience as well, even in those first 40 minutes. But the direction seems a cracked spell at times during the movie which seems crackled further through poor VFX during few instances. Songs are amazing, which is as a matter of fact drew me to the theater. Shankar Ehsaan Loy are back with a bang, that has complimented Prasoon Joshi's lyrics so rightly. But what is lacking, is timing in the movie. Songs seem a bit too many in the movie which would have sounded even better if their gelling with the flow of the movie was better. Songs should always be rightly placed, and must compliment the movie rather than being an impediment to its flow, is what I believe.
Having said that, there is no doubt that the battle scenes, scenes with weaving battle strategics are commendable. Kangana Ranaut has proved yet again that she can mold into any character that comes to her in making. Supporting crew has done their job great. A one time watch, and lore to sing in bits for a long time, for sure.

While the story tries to stay on the historical facts, over dramatics tends to lose focus and makes the movie disinteresting. The 3 stars are for good set/cinematography, veteran actors & Kangana.

No words to describe Kangana's performance as an actor and Director. Cast performances are good and so is the dialogue delivery. Emotions displayed and captured by the Kangana required no dialogues. Over all fine movie on such an historical brave figure.
A must watch!

My Rating : 7/10
I honestly wanted another 30 minutes before the credits rolled as I thoroughly enjoyed the slow-burning narrative and felt immersed in the movie! It also feels like an early 2000's movie and those were all 3 hours plus.
The simple story, on-point performances, beautiful locations, characters, dialogues, costumes needn't be rushed through and like wine required a bit more breathing and perhaps further expansion into an epic saga a la 'Gadar' or 'Lagaan' which are both 3 hours + ; that would have truly cemented the movie to an All-Time Blockbuster status.
My only critic would be that it needed to cater to non-Kangana fans through better management of audience engagement via other storylines, more interesting scenes/songs and developing other characters more.
For Kangana's fans - well, it's an ABSOLUTE treat! She's done justice to her role and really proves that you don't need a strong male lead for a Bollywood movie to be worth watching anymore.
Overall, a superbly crafted film with great dialogues - the team behind and in front of the scenes have all done extremely well - treading the line between commercial versus making a film with your heart and gut is difficult and the movie manages to follow both right til the end.
A VERY FINE BALANCING ACT INDEED.

I don't know why it is rated 7.2 on IMDb. I've loved Kangana for Queen and Tanu weds Manu series. But this movie was horrible. Neither did the movie had that zeal that is required from a war film nor did it had any acting or directing sense. There was no justice to the character. Sorry, but the movie was not upto the mark at all.
What a proud moment to watch her in such role...The Great brave woman of this planet she just not the queen of Jhansi...She is the queen of our Nation's heart 💕 Every single person must watch this movie.
Give it 10 star so that everyone watch it support it.

Must watch for Kangana's acting and the movie content !
Performance (especially Kangana, though the supporting cast is exceptional too), costumes, score,... cinematography - everything in the film works very well. Editing could have been better - in many places, the events feel disjointed, though admittedly, because the screenplay had to jump places, ...I cannot imagine what could have been done to make it more easy-flowing.... Kangana;'s performance goes a full arc from an innocent but brave teenager, a wife and lover, a mother and to finally a patriotic warrior, and she nails every shade with priceless facial expressions...

Watched it last night. Unfortunately, I was taught history at school s could see that each scene was full of caricatures - several songs, religious chants, saffron dresses, designer bindis, women empowerment, punishing deshdrohis, proclamations of akhand bharat and of course cow protection. A respected freedom fighter gets depicted very poorly.
Came out with a splitting headache. If you like watching badly made over the top films, go for it. For the rest, dont fall for glowing fake reviews

Movie has really down the expectations.Bad direction.Such good actors but it seems Kangna is alone doing everything and wanted to be seen in every scene. Movie is slow and boring. To an extent background music is somewhere adding good flavour in the movie.Dialogues has no impact. Such a strong theme but Kangna this time have not done justice with the role.

It's a super entertainment..I loved the every bit of it...no usual Bollywood masala, no hypes and the presentation was quiet unique and worthy for time and money
It's always tough to make a come back after few flops, it's always challenging when there's many walk-outs in the middle of filming, which further forces you to helm the project - A period film - do or die situation in all means and to add more miseries; when the entire environment around you is scheming and hostile. It takes Kangana Ranaut to once again rewrite her own trajectory, which once again propels North-bound and this time it's with Manikarnika.
Kangana Ranaut is the heart and soul of Manikarnika and none of her contemporary can ever come close to her, none could have performed like her. She retreated herself and lived as Jhansi Rani Laxmi Bai to retell the legacy and bravery which will forever remain in the hearts of Bharatvarsh's people.
Manikarnika is a well made film with good performances by all, Dialogues, BGM, VFX works goes well with the theme. Kangana excels even in her maiden directorial venture.
Though the first half drags and goes a bit slow with unwanted songs, but it's the second half which complements the cause. The war episodes, the action sequences are well choreographed.
PS: Shut the left-biased media and keep thronging to the movie halls to watch Nationalists films which are literally burning them. Many more in the offing in the coming months.

A very poorly researched movie that focused more on Kangana preening than in bringing out the depth of Rani Laxmibai's character. I was looking forward to this movie from the first time I heard of it. And after watching Kangana in Queen, I thought she would blow my mind away. Unfortunately, her focus was more on preening and pouting in most scenes (except the war scenes which were the only good parts of the movie). Very very disappointing.

Just watched Manikarnika.. This is the first review of mine on a movie.. Felt very good about the movie.. One cannot shoot Lakshmi Bhai's story (or anyone's biopic) in 3 hours.. But the team really worked hard to make that happen.. Kudos to the whole team, especially Kangana !! She is the only one who can do this !!
Guys, every movie has it's own plus and minus.. let's encourage the team's hard work.. go and watch the movie in theatre.. don't judge the movie based on the actors, their personal life and controversies
No one will regret spending when comes out of theatre.. Enjoy guys !!

Great storytelling with superb acting by kangana
Please don't take this movie as history lesson that you have skipped in school.
MANIKARNIKA REVIEW :-
Indian History is always something where every Film-maker try to find a story which should be liked by audience. Then how could a story of The Queen Of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai left out? If not today then tomorrow someone would have surely made a film on it as we all know it is a Potential Story to make a Great Film. Team Manikarnika Glorifies this Great story in thier stucked and average execution.
The first half of the film is nothing less than a Fiasco where you keep waiting for Quality but you never find it. At one point it even feels like this one might turn out to be a huge disappointment. But somehow the second half does the job, it saves Manikarnika from that Debacle tag and pushes it to safe Average mark. And there also most of the credit goes to the Actual Story which happened 170 years ago. Thanks to the sympathy which goes to the Legacy of Rani Laxmibai and her Bravery despite knowing that the film is not justifying her standard upto that level. It was a Script with Potential of turning it into a Best Historic Film of Bollywood but the entire team of Manikarnika Misses this Opportunity.
Kangana Ranaut as Manikarnika doesn't look like the one in the first half, she looks a cute and sweet doll. Then in 2nd half you see real anger and that enthusiasm in Kangana. Supporting cast could have been much better, so does the direction. I could even say that Make-up man does a better job than Director. Writer too doesn't bring anything interesting, neither in script nor in screenplay. Dialogues are much better comparatively, though. Execution is mediocre, it has unnecessary loudness, poor VFX, goofs, loo breaks, couple of songs on wrong occasions etc. Overall, Manikarnika is a Golden Opportunity missed, and reason could be the pressure of handling big story of big name from the history, so big responsibility it was aftreall. But still the questions appears that it had all the needed ingredients like story, budget, production value, canvas, everything then why? This one is still watchable for some Goosebumps moments of Pride, war, patriotism and our Precious History.
RATING - 5/10*

The movie is good but it could have been better.
Weather it is directed by Kangana or Krish. They should improve themselves.Climax of the movie is better. Kangana is fantastic but the supporting cast is not upto the mark.
