Anonymous Content Brazil, a CAA-backed partnership between São Paulo-based Rt Features and Anonymous Content, has kicked off production on its first scripted project, a TV adaptation of Raphael Montes’ bestseller “Perfect Days” for Globo Brazil’s giant streaming platform, Globoplay.
The eight-episode adaptation is directed by International Emmy-winning helmer Joana Jabace (“Precious Pearl”) from scripts penned by Claudia Jouvin (“The Nightshifter”).
In “Perfect Days,” Clarice (played by Julia Dalavia), a carefree, budding screenwriter, playfully kisses Téo, an awkward medical student, to rile her college boyfriend. But the joke escalates into a nightmare when Téo, fixated on making Clarice love him, abducts her for a frantic road trip across Rio de Janeiro. His obsession intensifies, driving him to extreme lengths to safeguard their supposed perfect life.
The series also stars Jaffar Bambirra (“A vida pela frente”), Débora Bloch (“Segunda chamada”) and Fabiula Nascimento (“The Night Shifter”).

Stenio is a morgue attendant in Sao Paulo who can communicate with the dead. He uses his supernatural gift to solve crimes and, eventually, attempt to change the circumstances of his own rather desperate life.
The debut feature from Dennison Ramalho, The Nightshifter is a film with an intriguing premise, and early scenes in which grisly corpses come to life before Stenio's weary eyes hit target in a Guillermo del Toro sort of way. At its best the film is reminiscent of Michele Soavi's Cemetery Man, its tone projecting a similar sense of sadness and ennui - Stenio has not asked for this horrible gift. Unfortunately, after around half an hour, things become oddly tedious, and ultimately the film fails to deliver on its early promise. What begins as an interesting set-up actually...

Mexico City — Morbido Festival, Mexico’s most important event for genre cinema, has announced that Spain’s Paco Plaza, “Veronica” director and co-creator of the 2007-14 “Rec,” the breakout hit found-footage horror movie series, will be attending the festival and writing a script for one of its newest initiatives.
This year, Morbido Group renovated the haunted house at the biggest and oldest theme park in Mexico, La Feria de Chapultepec. The house sees more than 10,000 visitors a week, and Morbido has enlisted Plaza to write the attraction’s 2019 script.
It’s the latest in an increasingly diverse portfolio of undertakings by Grupo Morbido, which launched Morbido TV in 2015. The service is a Mexican pay TV channel that is now broadcasting in a number of South America countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay and Peru.

If the dead could talk, what would they say? Would they tell you about their lives, their loves, their losses? Would they tell you what’s on the other side? Would they ask you to reach out to a loved one and tell them goodbye? Or would they bend your ear with a dark secret or two? What if this dark secret was about you? And more importantly, what would you do with this information? This is the story behind The Nightshifter, a raw meat morality tale that’s chock-full of crimson-coated, nerve-jangling scares.
The Nightshifter, the feature-length debut of shorts filmmaker Dennison Ramalho, is the story of Stênio (Daniel de Oliveira), a meek and lowly morgue attendant who works the graveyard shift. At home, he fails at balancing a juvenile delinquent son, a daughter, and a wife who loathes his presence because he reeks of death. In between stitching...

A special prize went to Dennison Ramalho's ghostly black comedy The Nightshifter.
Nosipho Dumisa won Best Director for Number 37, a gritty South African noir, while Isa Mazzei won Best Screenplay and the New Flesh award for Best Newcomer for Cam, the sinister story of a camgirl whose career is taken over by a doppelgänger. Joshua Burge was named Best Actor for Relaxer and Kim Da-mi Best Actress for The Witch Part 1: The Subversion. "Newcomer Kim Da-mi delivers an immaculate, layered performance, displaying intricacy and range in realms both physical and emotional.
