Pan-India movies are all the craze right now. We have had four already this year. The first one had Prabhas of Bahubali fame (the film that started it all). And I watched this film back to back with Mohanlal's Araattu; so you can imagine how excruciating/mentally draining it must have been.
Radhe Shyam is the story of one Aditya Vikram, an acclaimed palmologist/palmist. He reads the palms of famous people including Indira Gandhi (no idea why this movie was set in the late 70s). Aditya doesn't believe in love/relationships; he only believes in "Flirtationship". But (for obvious reasons) he falls in love with a girl, Prerna, a doctor. This also paves the way for arguments on science & palmistry. The rest of the story is more or less anyone's guess (multiplied by 100x cringe & continuous face palms).
Radhe Shyam is cringe from the word go. The character introductions are one of the worst till date. Microsoft Windows wallpapers feature heavily during most songs and during train sequences. Pooja Hegde's Prerna has a death wish as she requests random (some drunk) strangers to dangle her from the door of a running train. Prabhas is ridiculous & invincible as Vikram Aditya. A bus literally rams into him and he survives with just a small scratch on his head that happens to bleed profusely.
And don't get me started on the "epic" ship sequence at the end. It serves no purpose whatsoever! Just a way of showing that - we are spending a lot of money on this film (by shooting it in multiple languages & on the ship), so please go watch it. It also gives Jayaram additional screentime in a movie wherein he is only known as Ship Captain. Also, Indian Airlines is owned by the Emirates in this parallel universe. If Instagram permitted I would have gone on but sadly there is a word limit.
Watch it if you love cringe else just skip it.
