House on Haunted Hill (1999)
very very poor.........
I saw "House on..." on Sat and l thought it was going to be really good, it starts off very well, but just when you think that there is going to be a big unmasking of the villian the credits roll leaving everyone high and dry.....there are several points that did not get an explanation, and in this film it needed some explanation........so l`m sorry but l can only give this film 4 out of 10.

Matilda (1996)
Perfect.....
I know this film is about 3 years old but l only watched it last night (21st Sept)....l was drawn at once....the parents played by De Vito and Pearlman were the Mother & father from hell, you just had no feeling for them at all, but Matilda was just a wonderful character and well played by little Mara Wilson.
But being an Englishman, and in particular a Yorkshireman, my full marks must go to Pam Ferris as Agatha Trunchbull, it was not till well into the movie that l realised that it was Pam, and for those of you who live in the UK and have seen her as the homely Peggy in "Where The Heart Is" in which she plays a District Nurse, it was a complete change in roles for her.
The make up was great but Pam Ferris`s acting ability shone
through and l am sure that she really enjoyed such a great part.
I am not ashamed to say that in the last few moments of the film there was a tear in my eye as Matildas parents left her without batting an eye.....but of course Matilda was better of without them......
Great film l will watch it again, and again.....(hey...l`m 54)

The Grasscutter (1988)
Super film..........
This is a very good film, l first saw it about 6 years ago, the video cover is not very good, and the title is a bit vauge, but it concerns a guy who turns supergrass in Ireland and gets a new life in New Zeland.
But the hit men come after him...
I have just been very lucky and found a Video of this film last week......as a very tight drama with plenty of action it`s top notch.
Zorro's Fighting Legion (1939)
One of the best....
My very favorite character in films, but in nearly all of them the character of Zorro has a small bit of cloth as a mask and if the villain`s can`t tell who is under that cloth then they are daft.
But in Reed Hadley`s "Zorro`s Fighting Legion" (serial 1939) the mask fills his whole face making it a real mystery as to who Zorro really is.
But anyway Zorro is one of the best character`s in films and to bring it up to date l think Anthony Hopkins in "The Mask of Zorro" (1998) is a delight.
My interest in films is vast, but l have a real liking for the serial`s of the 30s/40s....
