Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)
Dumb but funny
This movie has some bad acting, a hokey plot, and could easily be dismissed as a stupid film, but then you'll be missing some hilarious scenes. If you are determined to hate this movie because it's idiotic and juvenile don't waste your time watching it; however, I think this film has a few redeeming qualities. The first thing I noticed is that the main character, Buffy, is a snobby, popular, cheerleader but she's not a stick, she's a real human! The cheerleading scenes are extra funny because usually, the girls are not quite sychronised. Buffy's comment about being in the "hairy mole club" cracked me up. I love Paul Ruben as one of the vampires. His over-acting is hilarious! The snobby high school girls are also funny, especially when one of them turns up dead and the others realize that she still has a borrowed jacket. I guarantee that if you have two drinks and a goofy attitude, you'll like this flick.
Jabberwocky (1977)
HA! It grows on you (like mold?)
In typical Monty Python fashion, you need a certain mentality to truly appreciate this movie. The first time I ever saw "The Holy Grail" I hated it- now it's one of my favorites. I'm sure Jabberwocky will continue to grow on me, too. I think you should grab a beer, put your feet up, and chortle out loud when you watch this show. I do wish some of the scenes inside the castle had a bit more light- it was kind of hard to see at times. I love how everyone looks dirty and gross, complete with bad teeth, unlike other movies set in the middle ages where everyone looks like they're 20th (21st) century actors dressing up in old clothing. There are thousands of details in this movie that make repeated viewing a must!
So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993)
Quirky and funny!
I love all of the quirky parts in this movie! One of the best scenes is when Charlie (Meyers) is watching "A Current Affair" while using a theighmaster! Charlie's dad (also Meyers) is hilarious with his outrageous Scottish accent and rude personality. And Rose, Harriet's strange sister, is funny when she offers to make a wonderful breakfast for Charlie. The last 20 min aren't quite up to par with the rest of the film IMO, but over all I gave it 8/10 stars.
Point of No Return (1993)
Pointless! Please Return!
Ug! This movie was so disappointing. I'm sorry I wasted my money on it at the rental store! The worst part is that it's almost exactly like "La Femme Nakita" which was great! Fonda was not believable. I didn't end up caring about any of the characters, I couldn't tell what they were really feeling or thinking. I just wanted the movie to end. Watch La Femme Nakita instead because this move is pointless.
How to Murder Your Wife (1965)
This movie had me laughing!
Part of the fun of this movie comes from the blatantly stereotypical characters. The butler who refuses to work in a house with a woman is my favorite. The fact that the new bride is the girl who jumps out of a cake AND that she only speaks Italian really cracked me up too!
