The Family (2016)
This needs to be brought back!
I would have been content to have one solid, well-paced and well-acted season of this if not for all the cliffhangers in the finale! It was clear they planned for the series to go on longer, and while many important plotlines and mysteries were wrapped up at the end, I would have loved to see where else it could go. Actors did a great job all across the board, but special props to Andrew McCarthy, who definitely played the most interesting character on the show.
In summary: this great show not only has a mystery that keeps you guessing at every turn, but also a strong emotional story that pulls you in and makes you care for the characters and their struggles. Truly a shame that it was cancelled.
The Sinner: Part VI (2020)
I personally like this season so far
I just happened to check out the show's IMDB page after watching this episode and was surprised by all the negative reviews. It seems the plot and actions of the main characters were considered unrealistic/stupid, but I think the show so far has very clearly established that this Detective is far from a conventional, by-the-books type of guy. Despite his questionable decisions, I thought that from an emotional standpoint, his actions are quite believable and consistent with his character.
Fingers crossed for the last two episodes.
Tsumetai nettaigyo (2010)
Unexpectedly comedic, nothing like what I expected from the summary
Slow paced, but not a problem if you find the characters interesting enough (which I did). Could do with less rape scenes, but not as gratuitous as anticipated. And surprisingly not overly-gory either. The ending was kind of cliché and weak, but overall it was alright.
7.5/10
A lot of solid laugh-out-loud moments. Actors sure had fun with all that blood.
Endgame (2011)
Please bring it back
A very fun, creative show with exceptionally likable characters and a very unique premise! Like other reviewers said, the season ended with a lot left to be revealed about the main character and the central mystery. I would have loved to see a second season!
Medical Police (2020)
A kind of comedy I don't see often!
I never watched any of its predecessors, but I loved the utterly stupid (and sometimes even surreal) tone of the whole show! Made me laugh out loud. The main characters were idiots with hearts of gold, and very fun to watch. Well, maybe they're not idiots all the time, being people of science and all. But anyways -- I'd love to see this pair of cop-doctors/doctor-cops and their friends on more misadventures in the future!
Hope we get a few more seasons out of this!
The Art of More (2015)
I don't understand
This show definitely does not deserve a 5.9 rating (at of the time of writing this review). The acting is perfectly good, the cinematography looks nice, the plot is interesting and the characters are likable and not too one-note. Overall, it's a very competent show.
As several people have said, it's a very original idea for a plot too. I mean, the seedy side of the art-collecting world isn't something you see on TV very often. Also, I really like how they open most episodes with a little 'history' on the pieces featured in the episode -- adds a nice amount of flavour to the show.
I enjoyed season 1 immensely, and I'm looking forward to season 2. Too bad it didn't go on for longer. All in all, this show might not be a groundbreaking masterpiece, but it's also no 5.9.
