Super Troopers (2001)
Shenanigans prevail- 4* out of 5
Comedy is taken to an all-time low- in a good way. "Super Troopers" is truly a good movie. The plot may lack, but it is made up in the comedy. The premise is basically this: 5 Highway Patrol Officers and their Captain are steadily rising on the state's list of expendable offices, due to the lack of action and "shenanigans" pulled by the Troopers. But, when a murder case turns up in their jurisdiction, the Troopers realize that this may be their last hope to save their jobs. The ensuing jokes, pranks, and plain comedy make this movie one of my personal favorites. This movie is definitely enough to brighten up anyone's gloomy day. It had me laughing from beginning to end.
The One (2001)
Not a bad movie, but definitely a great soundtrack
I should start by saying that I am a Jet Li fan. I have seen most of his American movies and some of his Chinese ones. I cannot honestly say that The One was his best movie, but it wasn't at all a bad one. The plot was a little farfetched, but it just made the movie that much more fun. The effects in the film are reminiscent of those in The Matrix, and some even go beyond what The Matrix has done. The fight scenes (***SPOILER*** especially when Li fights himself in the end) are choreographed in an excellent way.
On a side note, the soundtrack for this movie is a rocker's dream. Songs from bands such as Drowning Pool, Disturbed, and Papa Roach give the movie an extra push during the fight scenes.
Overall, i give this movie a 9/10. The One is a good movie and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good action movie.
Best in Show (2000)
Best comedy movie of 2000
I'll admit, I did not want to see this movie when it was in theatres or when it came out on video. But, I ended up renting it anyway, and I'm glad I did. It was definetly one of the best comedies I've ever seen. It's not gut-wrench, laugh-out-loud funny, but it's clever. Unfortunately, it's a movie that can be described as "okay." It's the kind of movie you either like or don't like, no in between. I recommend this movie to any lover of comedies and any lover of dogs.
My vote: 9/10.
Jurassic Park III (2001)
Great Movie
Short and sweet: Great movie (especially compared to most "part-3's" that drag out a tiring old story). The ONLY thing I found wrong (and it could be because I was at the front row with my head kinked) was the camera angles. That's it.
That's My Bush! (2001)
One of TV's Greats
"That's My Bush", contrary to what many people think, is a GREAT show. Everything from Maggie's unpredictable sarcasm to G.W.'s predictable "One of these days..." "Bush" has comedy that can rarely be seen. It's not laugh-out-loud, but its great in a subtle way. Some of the jokes you need to know current events to get, but still, it is a great show. I recommend this show to anyone who enjoys sitcoms.
