The Visitor (2022)
What started out fine....turned confused and weird
Just finished the movie and I thought it was good right up towards the first death and then afterwards it gets weirder all the way to the end. The script writer made the lead actor who played Robert being a time traveler; which made me think he was. But when you see an upside down cross in the bathroom makes you wonder what is really going on and it gets even weirder as we get closer to the end of the movie. The movie is gets confusing with different pictures of the lead actor's character Robert showing in different places in different time period and it gets even weirder.. I won't be watching it again.
Ekusute (2007)
Weirdest movie since Hausu
Just started watching the movie and this is totally different from the movie that I watched called Hair Extensions (2014) yesterday. It has kind of reminded me of the Japanese horror/comedy called Hausu aka House from 1977 and that movie was weird too. But this was the weirdest movie that I have ever seen since Hausu; where the hair extension attacking the victim but the victim is also getting memories of the poor woman who got all her hair cut off and then killed for her organs. The special effects I think are amazing in this movie. There is a couple of jump scares in the movie as well as one woman who is such a party girl and doesn't love her child. She is also abusing her own daughter and that makes me sad and angry. But at least there is payback for Mami. Then you got this crazy guy who loves hair and he has his own song about hair. Like I said the special effects of hair extension coming out of the fax machine or air condition was kind of interesting.
My Soul to Keep (2019)
Great movie but it needs a sequel
I thought this movie was great. I don't see this is horror movie but towards mystery/thriller/suspense. It had a good story and great acting by the kids as well as the adults in the movie. When I was about Eli's age or younger, I was afraid to down to the basement of my house. The only person that I would smack along the head is Eli's older sister; like a typical teenager, she has some serious issues. But I would like to know the story behind older sister and younger brother and the medication that supposedly taken by Eli. What I can't believe why Eli's parents would trust Emily to watch over Eli even if there is another person; when they know she isn't responsible and the other person is responsible but when Emily dressed like a hooker and intimidates Dominic and leaves Eli alone by himself. I'm surprised that the parents didn't text or call to see how things are going at home. With Eli home and alone, he has to take care of business of dealing with an evil monster by himself. Beware, it has a sad ending and I cried. I hope they do a sequel.
Don't Blink (2014)
Whatever you do Don't Blink
Just finished the movie and it was quite interesting film-making. I thought at first that it sounded like one of Doctor Who episode called Don't Blink and with that thought in mind, it had to be a science fiction story line. But there were no Weeping Angels whisking away people one by one to a different time line. Also, it felt like a bit of Twilight Zone or Outer Limits type of vibe to the movie. So, we got 10 friends driving up to a mountain lodge out in the middle of nowhere for a trip. Once they got up there, they all find out that the gas pump doesn't work without a special key in order to get gas. They also notice that there was another car, and when they began to do a search for anyone either they find makeup left in the bathroom, a purse on the floor by a table or a hangman's noose. They found no one but themselves...thus the mystery begins and that is also when things started to get really weird. One by one each finding themselves disappearing or shot themselves and then disappear without a trace. Could it be aliens? Or a Government cover up? They really never explained how the people disappear. But it would've been a great movie if they left out all the F words or use another word that is not an F word. Other than that, it was good mystery/thriller.
Gods of the Deep (2023)
What's an Ood doing with wings?
What's wrong with the movie .just about everything from the script, characters, to the building of what supposed to be a state-of- the-art sub and rover looked like it was cheaply built or a kid made for their science project and the story line has a mix of The Abyss and something else that I can't my finger on. The creature, well its appearance is like an Ood ( a Doctor Who reference with wings and a humanoid in one. I have seen better movies with great storytelling like The Abyss; which is my one of my favorite science fiction movie. This movie is a complete waste of time and it wasted my time by watching it.
Mohabbat (1997)
Great Movie
I don't why Mohabbat got low reviews probably never saw a Bollywood movie like this one or didn't like the singing or dancing; which is part of Indian culture.
Mohabbat was the very first Bollywood that I ever saw and I have been fan ever since. When you watch this movie, you are going to love story between the main characters. Gaurav and Rohit fall for the same woman that each meet in different occasions. Gaurav falls for Shweta when he heard her sing in the gymnasium from then on he begins to help secretly to make Shweta a super star. Shweta on the other hand after her debut, she meets Rohit in a barn during thunderstorm and it was love at first sight for both. With a many misunderstandings, unexpected death of a close friend; which leads to a heartbreaking ending.
Butterfly Kisses (2018)
Whatever you do don't blink
I feel like that I am watching a Doctor Who episode called Blink. This movie doesn't have weeping angels but it is more like a documentary on a urban legend of the 'Blink Man' aka 'Peeping Tom'. The movie goes back and forth from the student film footage to the filmmaker going around doing interview with people who interview from the film students. Then there are people who are part of those paranormal groups who thinks that what the film students filmed was all fake. Then there is what I like to call background noise that seemed to appear right after 'Peeping Tom' appears on each of the film tapes. Was is it really 'Peeping Tom' talking to the student filmmaker telling him that he going to get him?
It is a very interesting movie that leads the viewer to figure whither 'Peeping Tom' is real or not.
Amusement (2008)
Sorry I'm not amused by this movie
I'm not amused with this movie and when I started watching it I thought it was about amusement park mystery/thriller but isn't. It has some weird pyscho guy at first you see him as a creepy clown going after three women. There are also flashbacks by each woman and it seems that these three women were schoolmates when they were kids and they met by a weird fellow classmate who has some really weird and disgusting ideas. Oh his laugh is very creepy too. It would have been a good mystery if you left out the horror of it. What I like to know how in the world that psycho creep live after falling 500ft in a shaft. You don't.
Midsommar (2019)
Weird movie
When I saw the trailer for the movie, I thought it looked interesting to see. It had some similarities to the 1973 movie called The Wicker Man as to midsummer rites or whatever and I have seen The Wicker Man to where I can see the similarities of both movies. I'm not into a horror movies, but this kind horror or should say cold blooded murder is taking it on whole other level. There is a jump scare that totally came out of nowhere. There is a couple of sad moments to where I cried. But what I didn't care for is a lot of F words that are through the entire movie. Also there is lots of violence and this is not for a faint of heart, I had to turn away a couple of times.
Pompeii (2014)
Whether it is historically accurate or not...
It is interesting movie to watch. See how the people lived in Ancient Pompeii from the lower class to rich upper class, gladiatorial games and that includes the earthquakes leading up the great earthquake in which Mount Vesuvius showed off her magnificent power of destruction of Pompeii and all those people who died. I like historical films and even read Pliny the Younger's letter s describing what he saw as Mount Vesuvius eruption and his uncle Pliny the Elder died. So with this movie, take it with grain of salt and fast forward all the romance stuff, watch some gladiatorial matches and then finally see how history unfolds for the citizens of Pompeii.
The St. Francisville Experiment (2000)
Never play with Ouija Board to summon things don't understand
I thought the movie was slow and boring in the first half. If you want to make a actual docu-movie make sure that you do a thorough research and use people who can do ghost hunting for a living. This was not cool to use unknown actors who would eventually get hurt in making of this movie. First half, the four people as soon as they walked inside the house they started arguing and this tells me that they are already scared as they get themselves ready for their adventure, and there should be an option of leaving if someone scared. Ghosts were watching them as entered the house.
Secondly, whatever you don't use a Ouija board to summons things that you don't understand and somethings can be very dangerous as the one young woman found out. Sorry to say, that I would not go into that type of house.
Nü gui qiao (2020)
Never pull a spirit/protection talisman off the bridge
Once you pull off the talisman, the evil come and haunt you. If you belief that sort of thing. That's what happens in this movie, 5 university students playing a game on a bridge that was supposedly haunted by a female student years ago. The movie flips back and forth from the present to the past and shows what happens when you pull a talisman from the bridge and everything goes downhill. The question of five lives must die pertains to the female student who died previously before the bridge games started. I'm not going to spoil the movie for you.. You will have to watch it for yourself and it has several jump scares too.
Titanic II (2010)
It's all about CGI
This is the worse movie ever. Why you ask? From the first scene of some dude riding the surf off piece of an ice sheet that has fallen into the water to create a good size wave. Then you can hear ice cracking in the background and the surfer turned towards the sound and a huge piece of ice fell into the water and a huge wave heading towards him. The next scene, you see the one of the main character who is Coast Guard Chief and he is standing on a fake CGI ice sheet even the cracks look CGI. Now to the ship SS Titanic II is so CGI especially when she is sailing and you can tell that it is CGI. When the tsunami hits Titanic II, and people scrambling...what I like to know where is the ships crew? They are supposed to help passengers get to their designated lifeboat as well as getting their life jackets on. If I want to watch a disaster movie, I watch either Poseidon Adventure (1972) and or the 1953 Titanic, 1958 A Night to Remember and finally the 1997 Titanic; which is what I saw on the movie theater and cried in the last twenty minutes of the movie. Now those four movies about the Titanic are the best movies compared to this one. I stopped watching it at 53minutes because it is to cheesy and it is dumb.
Don't watch it.
Nope (2022)
Good but the alien looks awesome
I just finished watching Science Fiction/ Horror and Thriller movie called NOPE. It would have been a great movie if they can leave out foul language. I really don't need to hear every five to ten minutes in each scene the F word and the other F-word. It's not a good thing. Also I was taken by surprise and I had to go back few minutes and again I was taken by surprise to hear the main lead character calling out to her brother from the window a derogatory word N-word. I thought we got past using those types of words. This movie kind of reminds of War of the Worlds (2005) where the aliens suck up humans eat them up and use their blood for plant food or whatever. But there is point where you see the 40+ people inside the alien screaming and that is all you see until see the alien craft or whatever it is flying over and stopped right on top of the Haywood house and went to the bathroom. It's another scene out of the War of the Worlds movie.
Now for the flashback scene about killer chimp named Gordy or Gordo, I don't think it should be in the movie at all and where he kills the cast members and even eating them. The chimp looked very CGI who knew that there was an actor playing the role of the chimp. I like science fiction movies if they have a good plot and I can enjoy each character, but this movie not so much and the foul language every five or so minutes throughout each scene and it tends to get boring. I just wanted to see how it ends. The alien looks like at first a sand dollar but towards the end of the movie it looks different almost like angel. It's pretty cool looking CGI character. This movie isn't one of my favorite science fiction movies and once is enough.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Talk about your disfunctional family
First off, I would have given the rating of a 10 if it wasn't for the foul language in every episode and I think there was 10+ F words just in one episode. Secondly, I don't this show if I can really call this a horror show but it does had element of mystery as to why some of the siblings can see things and others not. This particular family or should say the siblings has some serious issues with each other. And there several jump scare moments in each episodes... well at least three so far and I'm not done finish with the series yet. Also, you might want to have a Kleenex box on hand because there are some cry moments that you will need a Kleenex for.
The Atomic Cafe (1982)
A teaching lesson to the next generation
This movie or should say documentary that is also a teaching lesson for our children and their children seeing what their parents, grandparents and even great grandparents have to go through during the 1940's through the 1960's. I kind of remember the watching movies on 'duck and cover 'and also practicing them in class. I don't know if the schools these days are still doing 'duck and cover' exercise. For the children these days have no clue as to what happened and this documentary is a history lesson even I don't remember what happened during the time my mom was born and her growing up years.
Zvyozdniy razum (2022)
Boring
I starting watching the movie and the further that I got, it started to remind me of Hollywood's SciFi/Horror movie Alien. This version goes back (flashback) to present. I don't like dubbed movies. I would rather hear it native language that it was filmed. There are only two good things about the movie is the CGI; which is pretty awesome and secondly the music. The rest of the movie, is boring and its lacking of good story line that is borrowed from another another. If there is a monster, I sure didn't see it and there is a lot of slim. But you did get a glimpse of the monster named Trojan but it doesn't look like the hollywood alien. During the alien attack, what happened to the rest of the crew, you are watching Steve guy battling out with Trojan and that's about it. Boring movie that I will never watch again.
The Inherited (2015)
Just another version of Rebecca
This movie when I started out watching it, it reminded me of my favorite book Rebecca. It's an okay movie and it is not a horror movie it is geared towards a thriller. It has creepy characters including the librarian who reminded me of Mrs Danvers. It is a slow going movie. If you want to be freaked out...this is the movie for you. The story is tad creepy to begin with. The housekeeper Mrs. M who I thought reminded me of Mrs. Danvers for the first hour of the movie. But towards the end of the movie, is she real or is she a ghost? I leave it up to you. I kind of like the movie but what about cookbook that Eve wanted to make.
Mi chao (2018)
Chinese Tomb Raiding movies and shows is better
I'm a huge fan of the Chinese Tomb raiding movies and Tv shows as I watched this movie it not as close to being scary...well maybe jump scare with all those spiders. But I would want to know how much money did Kelsey Grammer get paid to this film. I would rather see him in better film with good script. The cast is fine but the script not so good. I would have re-titled the movie and called it the 7 Spider Guardians of the Tomb. The body count was low. I would rather watch one of my favorite Chinese tomb raiding aka Ghost blows out the candle or candle in the tomb. If you have not seen any of the Chinese movies like Mojin the lost legend that is pretty good movie.
Oxygène (2021)
Good Scifi movie
Being a science fiction fan, this is a first French movie that deals with traveling in space to another world to repopulate the human race but the real kicker is that the human race isn't really human they are clones. The lead actress who is name we find out later is called Liz and we see her lying in a cryogenic pod all wrapped up in a special cocoon that protects the human who is asleep. But for some reason, Liz woke up to early. The movie has great CGI through out the film and I would like to know how the actress made it through the filming with out having anxiety attack and the music is great.
Mistrz (2020)
Good movie but...
I have never heard of this story before if I did, it has been a long time. I watched this in honor of all those who lost their lives in Auschwitz Concentration Camp and the other concentration camps. I didn't realize that this movie takes place during the early days of Auschwitz. Everything from the acting, to cinematography excellent but I have one main problem, if I want to watch a foreign film I expect to hear the native language like Polish and German and use English subtitles. This is one moving and yet powerful movie, and it will make you tear up when you see families heading for their deaths. And, yet it will make you angry all at the same time. It did for me.
Into the Deep (2020)
Red flags this man is creepy
I have never heard of this before until I watched this documentary. It was very interesting to see how the people who worked with Peter Madsen on building his next project of a rocket-ship that they didn't see the red flags of this cool collected person like Peter Madsen. It kind of give you some clues why would you put a saw on a submarine? Or other tools that I can see. I
I do like the back and forth interviews between the people that knew Peter Madsen leading up to the trial; which I think he should have a death penalty. But I could see almost right off that Peter Madsen seems a little off and makes it wander if he had a rough childhood or was it later on. Who knows. But the guy will not let out anytime soon.
Good documentary.
The Fall of Usher (2021)
Dreadful
Who in their right mind would a modern day The Fall of Usher without reading the short story by Edgar Allan Poe. I watched the trailer thinking that is was a period piece boy was I wrong. It looked boring and there was something off about the movie that turned me off.
Quite frankly. The 1960's version of House of Usher is better than this version and this because of the great Vincent Price makes the movie really creepy and you have to have Roger Corman do the direction.
How about no more adaptions of Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall House of Usher. One is enough and that is about it.
Its up to you if you want to watch it.
Hausu (1977)
Jusr plain weird
If you like weird movies, then this movie is for you. This is Japanese horror/comedy movie about a house with a lot of cat pictures or in Japanese mythology the cat yoki and old woman bound in a wheelchair when her niece and her friends show up at her house. As soon as they entered the house, all things go strangely long appear or disappear...one by one the girls soon disappear and. This whole movie is weird and bizarre and mostly defiantly a 1970's film. This most defiantly not a children's movie. It makes me wonder if the director and those helping him film this weird movie were on drugs. Again this is a weird movie.
Elvis (2022)
Austin Butler for an Oscar for Best Leading Actor
This is a great if not a Oscar worthy performance by Austin Butler portraying Elvis Presley from from his early years leading to a world-wide.phenomenon. And just to think of all the influence of style of music that he heard while growing up ranging from R&B, Blues, Gospel and so forth and that goes with the people that he met, like BB King, Little Richard and so forth. But sadly dying at a young age of 42.
I grew up listening to my dad's Elvis Presley 45 records that he bought while he was stationed in Germany. I was 11 years of age when I heard about Elvis Presley passing away. It was so sad.
