Will & Grace (1998)
Good sitcom, interesting characters but sometimes loses the run of itself
I'm sure you know the setup etc of this show by know so i'll just get to my main comments about this show. Firstly I think it's pretty great and i think the characters are a little more likeable than a lot of the others on sitcoms these days. Will and Grace are funny and kinda neuorotic in an endearing way and Karen and Jack are so mean that they're funny. The lines sparkle and some of the banter is great. I think that the show is too happy to just play the gay card sometimes though. I actually think the show is great for showing gay people are the same as everyone else but Will and Grace as a sitcom works on many levels. It beats friends for zaniness and fun when it wants to but sometimes they're just content for us to laugh at how much of a flamer Jack or jokes along those lines. If the writers remembered the fact that they can write good banter and still have a show that is proudly gay then we'd be on to pure gold. as it is it's a solid show that sometimes loses itself and delves into stereotype. Having said that i recommend the show for it's strong performances, likeable characters and good humour.
Ally McBeal (1997)
cute funny and utterly charming
ok i watched the season opener for season 5 a few weeks ago because our run of boston public had finishe and ally was taking over. desperate for some david e kelly i watched even tho i hadn't really liked what i saw previously of the show. I watched anyway and i was glad i did. the episode introduced 3 new characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it!! it isn't a laff a minute funny like a sitcom but the laffs were subtle and charming. I had always heard the ally was really neurotic but in the 3 episodes of season 5 i've seen she's been charming and a little unlucky in love. The new cast members are good too. Julianne Nicholson is really sweet as Jenny and James Marsden is good and is an interesting love interest (i think). Anyway i think this is a sweet yet very funny show that is worth a look. And this comes from someone who didn't give the show the light of day until now.
Snoops (1999)
Fun, Glossy and ??Cancelled??
Firstly i would like to shake my fist at amerinca network abc for depriving us of this show. it's started in ireland a little while ago and it's good fun. Following a pi agency that doesn't follow the rules the stories are interesting and gina gershon smolders. i'd like to thank david e kelley fore the ep where one of the characters pretends to be gay to follow someone going fomr lite to drak as the guy is beaten up by gay bashers. an interesting series check it out if you can.
Scream 3 (2000)
Way better than 2 and parkey posey is wonderful
Ok so there is a mixed reaction to this one. some say that it's way better than crappy 2. some say that it's crappy and that 2 is way cooler. Everyone agrees that it's not as good as Scream. Here's the truth. It's better than 2 which was ok. The script is not kevin williamson but's its still funny. the directon is good as ever. blood/ violence somewhere between 2 and 3. The movie however is worth watching for Parkey Posey's hilarious performance. Trust me you'll love her quirky gale copying antics. I have to say that personally i loved this one and i think everyone will get some enjoyment out of it. Well worth watching.
The Faculty (1998)
I COMPLETLY ADORE THIS FILM!!!!!!
I love this movie. To me it's the only of the new wave of teen horrors to match if not surpass Scream. Since its more of a teen sci fi horror it's also slightly more original than stuff like Urban Legend. The performances are good, the direction is wonderful, the script if you're a Williamson fan is good if you're not still pretty good and the score is great. Now I know this review probably comes across as one of those gushy teen movie fan reviews but believe me this movie is great. Trust. Rent it and you won't be disappointed.
