Otoko wa tsurai yo (1969)
Japanese cinematic arts at its peak.
Otoko wa Tsuraiyo, the first film of the many serires, is a masterpiece of a Japanese cinematic arts at its peak. Despite the simple and mundane story, the character development and the excellent performance of the entire casts portrays the dynamic relations of the characters. The cinematography, specially the camera techniques portrays the characters emotional status and transformation moreover it allows the audience to immerse into the world of Tora-san and the relations he has with other characters. The film, and the following Tora-san series serves as a canon, a model for future cinematic arts in Japan.
Shin Kamen Raidâ (2023)
awkward acting and nonsense plot
Another incoherent video made by an incompetent fan boy, Hideaki Anno. Like his previous films, it lacks character, story, coherence, acting and mise en scène. The character were underdeveloped. The actors stood still in front of the camera the entire runtime, and their resting b face performances did not improve the incomprehensible plot. It was impossible to sit through to such boring picture. However, somehow the targeted fan boy audiences were convinced they've watched a masterpiece. The bar seems to be set very low for a "good film" in Japanese market. Another mystery of how an incompetent film maker is still working and even praised.
Middonaito suwan (2020)
A story and characters that Allows the audience for compassion
An unusual plot with an emotionally driven story filled with intriguing and well developed characters. Though the portrayal of sexual minorities are stereotypical for the sake of story, it allows the audience for a conversation, and introspect on Mysogeny, poverty, lack of acceptance in Japanese Society. A reconsiderable performance from Kusanagi and Mizukawa. A promising performance from Hattori, and Uchida's surpricing direction.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
It should be rated G.
Love and Thunder is a reminder to all that the comic book properties have been bought and owened by Mickey. Warning. Don't expect a film with challenging drama, an intriguing story, nor innovation in practical effects like DC films from MCU films.
Shin Ultraman (2022)
poorly told premature story without mise en scène.
Re-review. Its is based on the mythology of the Theft of fire, and the titular Ultraman as the trickster. Despite its concrete plot, its ruined by 112 min of recital of importunate lines without any character development nor emotional expression. Though it claims to be a "Science Fiction Film" from its title, its absent from social commentary, artistic expression, ideas, nor acting. Not even a story. It is a patchwork of favorite scenes from the original "Ultraman," stitch together with prematurely understood ideas, and filled with easter eggs that serves very little purpose. Its an expensive "fan made video." But, hardly a "film" with mise en scéne.
