Sweet Street (2020)
A really great short.
This was a very nice short, that was right up my street (if that is the correct saying). Great performences by the leads. I also like the way it was shot and the look.
Also I loved the soundtrack. It reminded me of the Neon Demon soundtrack.
Who Is the Mannequin? (2014)
A quirky take on the film noir genre.
'Who Is the Mannequin?' is written directed by Nicki Legge, Starring JP Frydrych and Nick Follmer.
JP Frydrych plays detective Bernard who finally cracks a case after 10 years by finding out who's the mannequin is. He invites a friend over to share the news.
This short film is a quirky take on the film noir genre. It contains all the elements of a film noir, like the obsessed detective with a drinking problem, the classic voice over narration and a great soundtrack. This movie add a comedy factor to it. JP Frydryck gives a good performance as detective Bernard who is a obsessed detective dedicated to this 1 one case, but also very clueless.
The story is great and they make use of color to help the story along. I love the soundtrack, it's just how a soundtrack for this genre should be and gives a great atmosphere to the movie.
Be sure to check this short movie out.
Clash of the Titans (2010)
Why did I pay extra for the rental of the 3D glasses for this movie?
I saw this movie yesterday and i also found out that the movie was in 3D the same day I went to see it. What a disgrace. I got a unlimited pass where i can see unlimited movies per month for 18 euro. But you have to pay extra for 3d movies.
The movie itself wasn't that interesting. In this movie you can't really say who's the bigger bad guy, Zeus or hades. The princes in the movie had so little screen time that her part didn't really made an impact in the movie.
But the main problem was the so called "3D" effects in the movie. It was awful. They put in the effects after the movie was done, so that they could cash in extra money. There were no 3D effects in the movie. My brother and a friend watched most part of the movie without the glasses, you barely saw the difference.
I'm not a big fan of the 3D movies, I like to have a choice to see the movies normal then with glasses which are of the most times to dirty to get it clean.
I rather that they show the trailer a while longer then the movie itself. The trailer was epic and cool, but the movie was a let down.
Old Dogs (2009)
No wonder that Disney scraps Wild Hogs 2 Plans.
The movie was so awful, the over-the-top hysterical acting, scenes that doesn't make any sense. The kids were annoying and for the most part their part was useless. The whole point was that robin Williams character get a chance to be a father, and the kids aren't getting any attention.
There was a scene with Bernie Mac (R.I.P.) that didn't make any sense.
Also there were 1000 shots of travolta's dog, it was pointless, only reason I can think of is to explain the title of the movie.
Williams and Travolta's characters were so unconvincing as friends.
The reason why I sit through the movie was that it was fun being cynical about the movie.
I thought because of Van Wilder and Wild hogs, this would be a fun movie, but it was horrible.
Only funny thing was the laughing face of john travolta and Seth Green and Justin long, and because of these few positive things I give it 3 out of 10 stars.
Knowing (2009)
Nic cage finally back in a better movie.
I got this movie in the sneak (in the Netherlands, we always get late movie releases here).
I was curious how this movie would be, because nic cage doesn't act in any good movies lately. But this movie pretty good overall. It kept you interested through most part of the movie. It's bin a while that nic cage has bin in a good movie, Next was good fun but not that great.
In the late 50's a school is celebrating there opening with a barriel of a time capsule. This time capsule was a idea of a girl called lucinda. Everyone had to make a drawing of how the future would look like. And Lucinda only put a bunch of numbers on the paper.
After 50 years the time capsule get opened by the son from nic cage character. Later on the evening by accident a date from the twin tower disaster. And checks out some of the other dates on the paper. All of them from major disasters and 3 dates that still had to happen. Nic is going to find out where it's going to happen and try to stop it, but can't The idea of this is good and worked out well, and sorry if I explain it not that clear, but I'm dutch. Where the movie failes is at the end of the movie. And that's really to bad, because the movie is interesting. The end is a cliché and done to many times before. This doesn't ruin the whole movie but you leave the theater with a feeling that they could write a better ending. I don't know how to say it exactly but people who have seen it know what I mean.
Also the visual effect are for the most part good. Only one part is a bit of fake. They used on a part digital fire and it's clearly fake and that's for this movie a bit weak, because the rest is greatly done.
You should check this movie out, but prepare for a clichéd ending.
Wit licht (2008)
Crap Crap Crap
I ain't a fan from marco borsato and went to see this movie with a bunch of people who agree on the same point. We saw the trailer and start laughing when marco borsato tried to act and running around with a ak-47. It looks ridiculous. But the movie was sooooo bad. Badly written, a lot of useless shots, AND THE SO CALLED ACTING FROM THET CRAPPY SINGER MARCO BORSATO. We laughed most of the time when he's in the screen, because the way how he acted. Sometimes he looked when he had to look shocked, it looked like he didn't want to pas a wet fart. "spoiler" the funniest thing was how he talked about the bad guy's favourite desert and that marco had his photo in his wallet.
Very bad. We went to see it, to see if it was a awful movie with a awful actor/artist.
War (2007)
The end ruined the movie
When i saw watching the movie i thought it was a good action movie. The story of from this kind of movies aren't always that great but mostly entertaining. I thought it was a good build story of game that jet li played with the jakuza and triades and jason statham's character who seeks revenge of the death of his partner.
The action was cool, story was OK, I would give this movie 7 stars. But then the movie ended and i though "why do they do this again?". Jason's character who turned out to worked for the triades and know of the attack on his partner. This is so clichéd and come out of nowhere. It would be better if the triade guy lied that jason was one of them. And the last scene ended that tom lone got killed just after he found out that jason was not one of them.
but know jason jumped for the shot after telling he was responsible and jet li stepping into his car and drives away, end of the movie. awful ending and ruined the movie for me.
Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation (2008)
A nice surprise
I thought when i bought this ex-rental DVD, this gonna be a crappy movie, but still enjoyable, and for 3 euros. But when I put it in and was watching it, I really liked it. It was funny, characters where funny. I won't win any prices but an entertaining movie for a night with your friends. But the point people give that movie only is made so they could put nudity in it, is kinda lame. It's also in the 80's one (the nudity). It is part of those kind of movies. Where the nudity is totally useless are in the movies from the makers of epic movie, etc. they put a naked girl in a scene which got not any purpose.
If you like these genre movies, this is a must-have (but only if it cost a few bucks)
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
Brian Singer would have done a better job
I did like the movie, but there were letdowns. Most of the characters had almost no part in the movie. The parts with shadowcat, I did not care about it. The chemie(i don't know if this the right word, I'm Dutch) between Bobby and Rogue wasn't as big as the first two movies and it looked like rogue got instead of a big part in the movie, a semi-part. Most characters didn't got more deepness then they deserve. Wolverine's past didn't matter at all in this movie and that was a bit of a letdown.
The movie itself was very good, I really enjoyed it, but there just points you just can't look away from. I hope, if there is next one, that Brian Singer is back.
Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (2005)
why didn't they
I'm from Holland. When I heard that the sequel was going to be filmed in Amsterdam, I thought wow that's cool. But I just saw the movie and I expected to be less good than the first one. There wasn't really a story in the first one, but the story of the second one is really bad. When i watched the movie it looked like if they made up everything(lines/actions) while they were filming. There were good jokes. I love Rob Schneider movies, but this one is a real stinker. The first scene was funny, the little person who is thrown in the water and you hear a drip. But I expected to be better(yeah really).
O, another thing that was stupid, was that your hear some people speak dutch, but the scene between Krabbe(gasper) and verboom(forgotten the name, but that's the girl where deuce falls in love with) they were talking English with each other, why didn't they speak just dutch, for American viewers they could use subtitles.
Spoiler!!!!! We all have seen the story where a guy get his revenge because in the past he didn't get in a club or something else like joining the police force or the feds. And that concept was even workout bad.
And when they are gonna quit with the Canadian jokes. A conversation between schneider and krabbe when krabbe says that the city is getting polluted and at the moment we see a guy shitting on the street and later on the movie peeing all over the place, and that guy has a Canadian flag and he screams: I'm from Canada and i'm wasted SIGH
It was a bad movie, although it had it moments, I give it a 4
Eight Crazy Nights (2002)
Why is this movie so low rated
I'm a big fan of of adam sandler and i loved this movie. I laughed my ass off. I don't understand why this film is so low-rated, because it was a fun story. The humor was great, but it was heartwarming at the end. The way that the story was told, how he lost his parents and starts drinking, and did't cry for his parents death, and through the movie he becomes nicer to everybody. The story was good, humor was great. For the adam sandler fans who did't like the movie, i don't understand you guys, so what if he's animated.
American Wedding (2003)
why they make this movie
all the funny stuff was in the trailer, the rest of the movie, aiaiaiai. the acting of everbody in this movie was worse, just reading there lines, as if this movie was made in one day. the makers of this movie thought "we want more money, lets make a third movie". sorry for the fans, but no. this movie was just bad. 2 out of 5 stars.
