Point Break (2015)
Not Bad, But Not A Scratch On The 1991 Original
So, having watched the 1991 original back in May this year, I kept meaning to give this one a watch & eventually did.
A young FBI agent infiltrates an extraordinary team of extreme sports athletes he suspects of masterminding a string of unprecedented, sophisticated corporate heists.
I found the film to be not bad, but not great either. It's just above average I'd say & not nearly as bad as made out. The film is pretty much what you've in the 1991 original, but different & shorten down.
It lacks the heart & the impact that made the 1991 film. Yeah, the action sequences in this film are impressive & well filmed, but the story scenes are pretty dull & boring.
The characters are ok, & the actors who portray them do a good enough job with their respective roles. There's some eye candy in this too along with some insane stunts & camera work.
The film has a good runtime of 1 hour & 35 minutes (95 minutes), the pacing is not bad & goes along at an even pace. Though the story scenes could've been more livened up a bit.
The film does lack a little in narrative & of course lacks the spark of the original. Keanu Reeves & Patrick Swayze were better & more memorable. Even the story scenes in the original were more upbeat.
Overall, it's not terrible & isn't bad. But it's not got a patch on the 1991 original.
6/10.
Jackass: The Movie (2002)
A Wild Film!
Saw a few clips of Jackass on the TV & have heard much of the show & the films! I saw the 4th & supposedly final film in Cinemas & enjoyed it! So, with this one, which I was too young to see at the time of its release, I knew what to expect!
Johnny Knoxville & his band of maniacs perform a variety of stunts & gross-out gags on the big screen for the first time!
I found the film to be funny & amusing! Not to mention gross & yucky in places too! The stunts are creative & amusing to watch & will make you wince in places!
Of course, the film isn't a film per-say as it's a series of sketches showing these guys preforming all sort of dangerous, gross & hilarious stunts! There's no story, but then these films don't exactly need one!
The films runtime is short at 1 hour & 16 minutes with even an additional 9 minutes of extra footage in the credits & after the credits! So, even then you're in for a wild ride from start to the very finish!
Overall, it's a good film, it is what it is! You'll enjoy it if you're into these crazy, funny & grossed out hilarious stunts!
7/10.
Venom: The Last Dance (2024)
I Liked It!
So, having seen the previous 2 Venom films, I went into this one with an open mind! I don't remember much of the 2nd one in all fairness, but did enjoy it as I did with the first film!
Eddie & Venom, on the run, face pursuit from both worlds! As circumstances tighten, they're compelled to make a heart-wrenching choice that could mark the end of their symbiotic partnership!
I found the film to be enjoyable, I liked it & found it a good watch! There's plenty of action, it's fast paced, has a decent runtime of 1hr & 32mins (92mins) & has a good but bitter sweet ending!
The actors including Tom Hardy the main man do a good job here & the effects are pretty sweet too! There's also some funny humourous scenes especially with Venom!
Overall, it's pretty good! Not amazing, but pretty good overall! Give it a watch!
7/10.
Don't Hang Up (2016)
It's Ok But Not The Greatest
So, I gave this a watch after randomly picking it up on DVD. I wasn't expecting much, but, with these Straight-To-DVD Films, they're usually not that great...
An evening of drunken prank calls becomes a nightmare for 2 teenagers when a stranger turns their own game against them, with deadly consequences.
I found the film to be not bad. It's got a Scream meets I Know What You Did Last Summer vibe from it. So, it's sort of unique in that sense, But, the film does lack in terms of depth & action. While there is plenty going on, there's not enough to make it great.
The twist was good & with some eye candy here, it was watchable. But the film felt soulless & implausible given the backstory, which was creative, but implausible even for film standards. The actors do a good job with their roles, so there's that.
The film had a decent runtime of 1 hour & 13 minutes (73 minutes) & the pacing was not bad too. There's some gore & violence to be had in this flick, but the horror was lacking a bit.
Overall, it's not bad, but not great either. It is watchable & worth a watch even if it's only the once.
5/10.
South of Sanity (2012)
A Bizarre, Yet Not Bad Film
Never even heard of this film until I randomly came across it online & decided to give it a watch.
The film sees a small research team who are located & posted in Antarctica. But things take a dark turn when a masked killer starts to pick them off 1 by 1 in gruesome & twisted ways, who will be left after the carnage is over?
I found the film to be not bad, but pretty out there stuff. Given I've never heard of this film & that it was shot & edited on set in Antarctica shows that it was a good & unique idea, but not executed well enough story-wise. They could've marketed it better I think.#
The film has a bit of a slow start & takes nearly 30 minutes before it gets good. Of course, when it does get good that's when the film picks up, though there are some slow & dragged out scenes in between the kills which themselves are pretty good & creative.
The killer & his mask are pretty creepy & scary looking & the isolation makes the film pretty atmospheric. It's not really gory, but it's gory enough. There's a bit of eye candy to be had here too.
The story is unique, though the motivations & the end were a bit disappointing. Given the film was 1 hour & 31 minutes (91 minutes) & had ok pacing, I was hoping for more at the end. But, I will say the film is unique for its setting & how it was made.
Overall, it's a good film, but pretty out there for what it is. Don't expect too much from this bizarre yet unique flick & you'll enjoy it.
6/10.
Welcome to the Jungle (2007)
Good Enough...
So, having never heard if this film until now & getting it online, I was curious as to what this film was going to be like. I didn't know it was a found footage film until I began to watch, but nonetheless I gave it a shot to see if it was any good.
2 young couples head into the New Guinea wilderness in an effort to find Michael Rockefeller, the heir to the Rockefeller fortune who disappeared in 1961.
I found the film to be good enough. It's not amazing by any means, found footage films are usually a hit or miss, mostly a miss with me & only so few are even average or very rarely amazing or memorable.
This one did have a unique story to it, even though it was Cannibal Holocaust like. Yeah, the plot seems a bit dumb (2 couples thinking they'll find a man alive after 40 years), & yeah, they themselves as the characters make dumb decisions, but what horror flick doesn't have these tropes?
There is some action that occurs leading up to the final act of the film & it is pretty good & even funny weirdly enough. The cannibals & deaths are good & sinister & the ending was pretty good also. There's a bit of eye candy to be had in this flick too. The film has a decent runtime of 1 hour & 18 minutes (78 minutes) & has not bad pacing.
The film does take a bit of while to get going & suffers from the same issue a lot of found footage films suffer from, the boring dialogue & stuff that isn't related to the plot.
I get that it's supposed to be a vlog style of film, but still, it's a bit annoying, though this one wasn't as bad & as I said, does feature some action leading up to the sinister finale & fate of the main characters who are by the way played well by the actors as with the cannibals too.
Overall, it's not bad & a good watch. Not amazing, but good enough.
6/10.
Eye in the Sky (2015)
Good Thriller.
Saw this film twice at the Cinema back in 2016 when it was first released & I did quite enjoy it. Usually these types of films have overly complicated plots to them or drag on & on, but this one had a surprisingly simple, yet effective plot & the film wasn't overly long or complicated either.
Col. Katherine Powell, a military officer in command of an operation to capture terrorists in Kenya, sees her mission escalate when a girl enters the kill zone, triggering an international dispute over the implications of modern warfare.
I found the film to be quite good. I wasn't expecting it to be as good, but was surprised as I started to watch how straight forward, yet effective the plot was. It's that & the suspense is pretty good too & keeps you on edge to the end.
The actors do a good job in this flick with their roles & while the film does have a bittersweet ending, there's plenty of action & suspense. The films runtime is 1 hour & 29 minutes (89 minutes) & has decent pacing to go along with it.
This was Alan Rickman's last film before he sadly died the same year this film debuted. So, it's dedicated to his memory & he himself done good in this flick alongside Helen Mirren & Aaron Paul.
Overall, it's a good flick. You'll sure enjoy it.
8/10.
The Apprentice (2024)
Good Film!
So, I saw a couple of trailers of this film leading up to it's release & was interested in seeing it as it looked like it might be good! Given what I know of the back story regarding Donald J. Trump, I was interested to learn how the man became what he was!
The film sees a young Donald Trump, eager to make his name as the hungry second son of a wealthy family in 1970's New York, comes under the spell of cut throat lawyer Roy Cohn! Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protege: someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, & a willingness to do whatever it takes to win!
I found the film to be pretty good! It's not amazing as such & lacks a bit of impact, but, it's actually pretty decent! The acting is pretty good & the actors (especially Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump) do a great job here!
The story is pretty good & informative! Of course, it's not 100% accurate to the events in real life (as far as I know), but it's an educated guess as these types of films do bend & twist the said events that happened for entertainment purposes or otherwise!
Nonetheless, it's an enjoyable & watchable flick! It has a decent runtime of 1 hour & 56 minutes (116 minutes) & the pacing is pretty decent too! There's some humour, eye candy & sad moments here too! The ending was good & what you'd expect pretty much!
Overall, it's a good film, not amazing, but definitely worth a watch!
8/10.
Smile 2 (2024)
Better But Not Much Better...
So, with the disappointing original back in 2022, I was skeptical of this one & to what it might be like. The trailers looked not bad & had me thinking this might be good & hopefully that the franchise could redeem itself.
The story sees a rising Pop Star, Skye Riley, a recovering drug & alcohol addict having sinister visions & hallucinations of a smiling demon that sets out to destroy her life. Can she find a way to escape the nightmareish visions?
I found the film to be a slight improvement over the first. It's not that much better than the first & feels like a rehash of the first in all honesty. The film has some great gore, violence & graphics. The lead actress Naomi Scott is great in this & provides great eye candy here. She's pretty hot.
The film has serious pacing issues & drags at a slugs pace. At 2hrs & 1min (121mins) is way too long for such a simple plot & is overloaded with screaming, shouting & long drawn out shots & scenes that added zilch to the plot.
The opening was decent & the sinister feeling & dark nature of the film was well done. The actors all do a great job with their roles. The twists aren't bad but got repetative near the end.
The finale was not bad, but pretty anti-climatic, it's like it went from one scene to the next & then just ended. Not bad, but felt like it was building to a good conclusion & then it gave up.
I also might add I didn't like the fact that that Morris character was sort of treated like a red herring as being a creep. That part in the bar was a bit sus when Skye took his photo in case he was a creep. I'm going to take that for what it was meant & not for how it sounded.
Overall, it's ok, but not much better than rhe first. There's a 3rd film said to be made, so, maybe that might be good or get worse but who knows.
5/10.
Salem's Lot (2024)
Pretty Good!
So, having not read the book or seen the Tobe Hooper version aside from a few snippets here & there, I went into this one sort of blind!
The film sees an author returning to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot in search of inspiration for his next book! But, he quickly discovers that the townspeople are being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire!
I found the film to be quite good! I will say it took a while to get going, but, nonetheless, I enjoyed it! The film has some familiar faces in terms of actors who by the way, do a good job with their roles!
The films opening & ending were great & there was plenty of action, scares & visuals to be had throughout the film in general! The story is simple & that's great! The films runtime is 1 hour & 48 minutes (108 minutes) & the pacing is decent enough!
The film isn't overly gory as such, but the visuals & effects are pretty special, I did enjoy the ending as I said & liked how ace it was as well as the opening! The film overall is pretty dark & sinister, so you'll enjoy it if you're into scary vampire flicks!
Overall, it's a good film! I will say I enjoyed it despite the film being a bit slow at some points! But, overall, it's a pretty good watch & you'll like it!
7/10.
Terrifier 3 (2024)
It's Good, But No More.
So, after seeing the first 2 films, I went to see this one (surprisingly) in Cinemas & pretty much knew what to expect given the nature of the first 2 films, which I thought were good.
Art the Clown is set to unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve.
I found the film to be pretty good. Not amazing, but pretty good nonetheless. It does the job in the gore department & by Christ, it goes full throttle with the gore & violence on screen. Also, there's a huge body count to be had here too, along with some creative deaths.
The story is ok, but nothing special. The film seems more of an excuse to showcase some intense gore & stack up a body count. Not that I'm complaining, but still, I'd like a story of some sort at least, especially an interesting one.
The actors do a good job here (the actor playing Art especially) & there's plenty of eye candy with the lead actress especially. There's plenty of nudity so there that too. The runtime is overly long at 2 hours & 1 minute (121 minutes) & the pacing wasn't too bad, but the opening & ending parts dragged a bit. The Christmas scenery & colour pallet was nice & there was some humour to be had here too, albeit a lot of it dark.
I don't get why the film has to be 2 hours long given the thin plot & mindless kills. I mean, I found there to be some great action, kills, gore & graphic violence. But, the film didn't cut it story wise & again, just seemed to be made for the sake of showcasing gore & graphic violence. The ending was not bad. But we'll have to wait for Terrifier 4 for the (supposed) conclusion.
Overall, it's a good enough film. But nothing ace or amazing. The film isn't any more gory than the Saw Franchise, so don't believe it to be totally outrageous. It is extremely gory, but still. Give it a watch, you may or may not enjoy it.
7/10.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016)
Slightly Better Than The First!
I saw this one in Cinemas & of course was surprised to learn of the first which I'd never heard of! I later watched the first one for clarity on the 2nd which I did enjoy on it's own despite not seeing the first film! I will say after now seeing all 3, that this is my favourite one!
A Portokalos family secret brings the beloved characters back together for an even bigger and Greeker wedding!
I found the film to be quite enjoyable! Despite not even hearing about the first until hearing about this film, I still enjoyed this one alone! As I said, I watch & enjoy the first film, but liked this one better!
The story is different this time around, but only slightly given the films title & of course obviously, 14 years have elapsed since the 2002 film, so much of the cast have obviously aged! We get a few new faces here with the inclusion of Paris, the 17 year old daughter of the mum from the first film!
This one sees her trying to find someone (by family preference) someone Greek, while the grand parents renew their wedding vows in this film after discovering the technically weren't married! So, it's pretty much like the first but different! If you enjoyed the first, then you'll sure like this one!
There's plenty of laughs & humour to be had in this film! The runtime is lean at 1 hour & 26 minutes (86 minutes), so it's decent in length & pacing as it brisks through! There's some eye candy to be had here in the film, especially with the actor who plays Paris! She's stunning!
The film doesn't have a dull moment in it & works pretty well as a sequel! I don't get the negativity at all! It's a simple, to the point romcom film with a Greek theme! I don't see what else there is to expect!? It's got a feel good theme vibe & has a pretty good ending too!
Overall, it's a good film! You simply can't go wrong with this one! As I said, if you enjoyed the first film, you'll certainly enjoy this one! Even though I prefer this to the first, all 3 films are generally a good watch!
8/10.
Alien Resurrection (1997)
A Decent 4th Entry.
So, just like the previous films, I went to watch this one again after a good few years & to be fair, I don't remember all too much from it. That being said, I do remember some parts of it being pretty good.
2 centuries after her death, a powerful human/alien hybrid clone of Ellen Ripley aids a crew of space pirates in stopping the aliens from reaching Earth.
I found the film to be pretty decent. I'd say it's as good as Alien 3 if not slightly better. This one has faster pacing & an interesting story. The gore seems to be amped up a bit here as with the action. The runtime is lean at 1 hour & 38 minutes with some pretty good pacing.
The actors do a good job here & the aliens effects & carnage are pretty well done. I did enjoy the story more here & the film had a pretty good ending. There's also some humour & eye candy to be had here too.
Overall, it's a decent 4th entry in the Alien Franchise & is I'd say pretty underrated if you ask like Alien 3 is. It's not amazing, but it's definitely a good film that doesn't get enough credit.
8/10.
Man on Fire (2004)
The Film Was Dire
So, having only heard little to zilch about this film, I bought it thinking it might be a good watch. Denzel Washington does good action thriller films, so I was sort of excited to watch this.
In Mexico City, a former CIA operative swears vengeance on those who committed an unspeakable act against the family he was hired to protect.
I found the film to be pretty poor in all honesty. The film has 101 issues with it, the first being the extremely sluggish pacing & over bloated runtime for a such a simple & let's be honest, thin & uninspiring story. The runtime is 2 hours & 14 minutes too long & that's without credits. Easily, a good 30/40 minutes could've been exercised to keep the film more consistent & faster in pacing.
The other issue I have with the film is the lack of excitement, the lacking in engagement to make me even care about what's going on. The film is so slow in pacing & looks so tired visually, that you can't get into the film, never mind give a toss. It's that & the story is just slap dash & pretty boring. Again, it's all down to the lacking in excitement & engagement as well as the pacing & runtime.
The film takes a good 48 - 50 minutes before any action starts & even then it takes a further 20-30 minutes when the revenge part of the film gets going & even then, the action is boring & uninspiring. Again, not wanting to sound like a broken record, but the pacing had a huge impact on the film. Even the ending wasn't satisfying & pretty flat & anti climatic given the long drawn out nature of the film. The pay off sucked.
There were some good action parts & the twist wasn't too bad either. The actors do an alright job with their roles & to be honest, that's the only good aspects I can salvage from this mess of a film. The flashy editing was a bit annoying too, not exactly helping the film which in itself was poor as. It's a shame, because I wanted to like this film, but was surprised by its long runtime when I got it second hand on DVD.
Overall, it's a mess of a film. The extremely sluggish pacing & over bloated runtime are the main issues here, followed closely by the lacking in excitement & engagement & a thin & boring story. Not to mention too much dialogue & dragged out scenes with flashy annoying editing & an anti climatic ending with zilch of a pay off. This isn't one of Denzel's best films, it's easy to see why this film was forgotten throughout the 20 years since its release. Watch at your own risk, but don't expect much.
3/10. & that's generous.
Joker: Folie à Deux (2024)
5 Years For This!?
So, with the first Joker film being a pretty good watch & hearing that it was to be an only film with no sequel, I wasn't bothered or even wanting more as the first film was perfect on its own. Then of course, (rolls eyes) a sequel gets announced & (rolls eyes, again), it's confirmed to be a musical. So, I knew from the onset, I wasn't going to find this film to be even half as good as its predecessor. But, nonetheless, I still gave this a watch...
Struggling with his dual identity, failed comedian Arthur Fleck meets the love of his life, Harley Quinn, while incarcerated at Arkham State Hospital.
I found the film to be surprisingly, not as bad as I had anticipated. That's not to say I thought the film was good or ace either. At best, it's average, or below average, preferably. It's still what I & many other fans of the first film would call an unnecessary sequel & one that does a pretty naff disservice to the first which was, again, perfect on its own.
The story is ok, but nothing special. It's pretty much a Law & Order Film with musical sequences added in along with some dark & comical scenes for good measure. There are some funny scenes to be had here & the musical parts weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be, I was expecting the film to be more musical & less story-like.
There's some action, violence, gore & fights to be had & we get some eye candy with Lady Gaga, so there's that. The actors do a good job here despite the weak & lackluster material they have to work with. The films runtime is overly long at 2 hours & 10 minutes (130 minutes) & has some pacing issues.
The ending was pretty disappointing as well sad to say & disappointing as I was going to give this film a bit more of a higher rating. There were some good parts to this film, but ultimately, it was a pretty dull film that lacked the excitement of the first.
Overall, it's as disappointing as you've heard & one that I would sort of recommend but would tell you not to expect too much of as it's a pretty poor excuse for a sequel. Watch at your own risk.
4/10.
Natural Born Killers (1994)
Erractic & Scattered, But An Acid Trip All The Way!
So, I'd heard much about the film prior to watching & got it 2nd hand on DVD 10 years ago & watched it! I will say I enjoyed it, but never saw it again until now!
2 victims of traumatised childhoods become lovers & psychopathic serial murderers irresponsibly glorified by the Mass Media!
I found the film to be good! It's a decent watch, but suffers from it's erratic & scattered direction & story telling! Of course, the story is straight forward & simple, boy meets girl, they both fall head over heels for each other & go on a killing spree which gets picked up & sensationalised by the media! Though the first 30 odd minutes will leave you thinking you were on LSD as the film chops & changes through different cuts & filters!
The story is unique & of course based on true events, though given my knowledge of the true events I can safely bet that they weren't as bad or plausible as depicted in the film! The actors do a good job here with their respective roles & the film does have a lot of gory & full on intense action, particularly near the end!
The films runtime is 1 hour & 47 minutes long (107 minutes) & has not bad, but sluggish pacing! The film could've used some cutting down to maintain pacing! I'd say that & the narrative could've been better explained more near the beginning! The action overall is great & the prison riot near the end was good! There's also some eye candy here too & the ending was pretty decent also!
Overall, it's a good film, not amazing, but good all the same & one I recommend!
7/10.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
Great Film!
So, I had never heard of this film until the 2016 sequel came out, but, gave this a watch having enjoyed the sequel! I enjoyed this one equally as much!
The film sees a young Greek woman who falls in love with a non-Greek man & struggles to get her family to accept him while she comes to terms with her heritage & cultural identity!
I found the film to be quite good! It's a simple, to the point romcom film that everyone can enjoy & get plenty of laughs at! The story may not be refreshing or original, but it does have a unique sort of spin on it with the Greek theme laced in!
The film has great characters who are portrayed well by the actors! There's plenty of funny & awkward scenes to be had in this film so there' not a dull moment! There's also some eye candy to be had in this film too, so there's that! The films runtime is 1 hour & 27 minutes (87 minutes) in length & has some pretty good pacing to go along with it!
Overall, it's a simple, yet effective romcom film that everyone can enjoy! Give it a watch & check out the sequels too!
7/10.
The Houses October Built (2014)
Scary Stuff
Saw this film about 10 years back & somewhat enjoyed it, despite not thinking it was all that. Me & Found Footage Films are a hit or miss type situation. They could either be really good, or absolute shyte. This one was good & scary to be fair.
5 friends are stalked by a group of mysterious & disturbed individuals while on a road trip looking for the ultimate haunted house attraction.
I found the film to be pretty good. It's not amazing, but it's pretty good all the same & does feature some action & scary visuals along the way. This is what makes this found footage film tolerable from the rest, you get some scary action & things happening before the real stuff begins to kick in.
The film has a decent runtime of 1 hour & 24 minutes (84 minutes) & has some decent pacing too. There's some eye candy, some good & natural acting & a scary but decent ending. The gore & blood effects are not bad too & the Halloween visuals just add to the film also.
Overall, it's a scary film & one of the few Found Footage types that is actually good.
7/10.
Happy-Go-Lucky (2008)
Decent, Funny & Quirky, But Overly Long & Lacking A Plot
So, I only heard about this film back in 2011, when my mum & brother were watching it one night while I was away & they said they enjoyed it & said I would too. Of course, I saw the funny parts & enjoyed them & was curious to see the full film, which I never did until now.
The film sees a few chapters in the life of Poppy, a 30 year old cheery, colourful, North London schoolteacher whose optimism tends to exasperate those around her.
I found the film to be decent. The story isn't much to be honest & there doesn't seem to be much of a plot, just a series of happenings here & there. I mean, the film does have plenty of funny moments & what not, but the issue is that there doesn't seem to be proper plot or story that flows, there's no outcome at the end if you know what I mean.
The scenes with Scott the impatient & uptight Driving Instructor are pretty funny & hilarious to watch & I will say are one of the few highlights of the film among the mundane & drawn out stuff. There's a lot of eye candy here too so that's something.
The film is 1 hour & 50 minutes in runtime (110 minutes) which is overly long considering the lack of plot & of course there being all these happenings that we see that could've been cut down or out entirely. The did drag the film down & added nothing to the film which I'll say again had virtually no plot, no reason to hold your attention in order to keep you interested. The film also has serious pacing issues too.
The actors do a good job here & the films writing wasn't too bad. The ending is ok, but somewhat unresolved. Again, (for the last time) the film lacked a plot & didn't justify the long runtime & sluggish pacing.
Overall, it's a decent & funny film. But lacks a plot & is far too long & drawn out for what is nothing more than a series of happens which themselves dragged on too much. The only highlights were the scenes with Scott the Driving Instructor & the eye candy. Other than that, the film was just decent & no more.
6/10.
The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence) (2015)
The Weakest Entry Easy!
I saw this one back when it was released in 2015 & remember it being crazy, wild, over the top & all over the place. But, nonetheless, not half as bad as what it was made out to be. After a crazy 4 years as to whether this film was ever going to be released or not, a Trailer finally popped up on YouTube & then I got excited to see this one & got it on DVD when it came out on the 10th July, 2015.
Taking inspiration from The Human Centipede films, the warden of a notorious & troubled prison looks to create a 500-person human centipede as a solution to his problems.
I found the film to be pretty weak in all honesty. It's not really bad, but it's not very good either & pales in comparison to the previous 2 films in the series. The 2 protagonists from the first & second Human Centipede films return here, but are playing different characters in a completely different universe.
They deliver pretty good & funny performances to be fair & we have some eye candy with some models here so that's something. Along with Eric Roberts too. We also have the creator of the films himself star in this 3rd entry, Tom Six who plays himself basically. So, it's entertaining with the banter & action that does happen.
However, the film takes a while to get to the point of what the title is about. It's takes roughly about 50 minutes before we see them talk about the Human Centipede plan. It's that & the film has some pacing issues too & is overly long at 1 hour & 39 minutes. The first 2 films were short & to the point, but this one drags unnecessarily before it gets to the point & even then, there's nothing much entertaining happening with the centipede itself. So, it's pretty anticlimactic in that sense.
Saying that, there's plenty of gore & graphic violence to be had & the film does have some humourous parts leading up to the centipede part of the film. As I said, there's plenty of eye candy with the models in this film as with some pretty good sets to be had.
Overall, it's the weakest entry by far, but it's not half as bad as being made out. I'd recommend a watch of this film, but it's not for the faint hearted.
5/10.
Never Let Go (2024)
Never Again
Saw this via a Scream Unseen viewing at my local Cinema & some of the clues on Social pointed to this film which I'd only seen a trailer or 2 for. I was partially curious as to what this would be like, but wasn't overly wow'd by it.
The film sees a family that has been haunted by an evil spirit for years. Their safety & their surroundings come into question when one of the children questions if the evil is real.
I found the film to be pretty boring & dull if I'm honest. The films story is half baked & wishy washy in places. The characters are pretty boring too & the film lacks any sort of life or emphasis. It's just very bland & boring.
The film plods along & things just happen & we're supposed to just know what they're meaning. There's some good scary & gory visuals, but they're too few & far between.
There's not a lot in terms of horror aside from some apparitions & things just happening & us not having a clue as to why they're happening. The film lacked a narrative. Speak of which, the film lacked a backstory as to why they were isolated in the forest. What was the evil & was it linked to the mum? You see? It made no sense. But I suppose if there was a backstory, it probably wouldn't have made the film any better.
The film drags on & on & doesn't exactly get any better. At 1 hour & 37 minutes, it's overly long & drawn out. I can't believe this is an Alexander Aja film, the guy who directed Crawl, Piranha 3D, Mirrors & The Hills Have Eyes remake to name a few. This one is sadly not one of his best works.
Then of course, you've got the ending which isn't great but hey, at least the film ends right? It was probably the first sign of getting back to reality seeing a town at the end of the film. That's it, the film was too isolated.
Overall, it's not great or worth you time. I actually nearly fell asleep.
2/10.
The Critic (2023)
A Pretty Decent Period Thriller!
So, having heard little about this film & looking for something to do on a boring Monday evening, I went to see this & found the plot to be dripping with a hint of excitement!
A powerful London theater critic blackmails an actor which ends up having deadly consequences!
I found the film to be pretty good! It's a little confusing & could've done with a more concise narrative, but it was pretty decent & you got the gist of it after about 20 minutes!
Ian & Gemma play good roles here & do good jobs just like the other actors in this flick! The films pacing is good along with its 1 hour & 34 minutes runtime (94 minutes), so it's decently paced & lengthed!
There's some eye candy, action & even some humour to be had here along with the convincing period setting which works well! The ending is as decent as it could be & the story is unique & has some twists that are interesting!
Overall, it's a pretty decent period drama! It's not amazing, but it's pretty good all the same & worth a watch!
7/10.
Alien³ (1992)
It's Decent!
So, I saw this film 7 Years ago & did remember enjoying enough despite not remembering all too much about it!
Returning from LV-426, Ellen Ripley crash-lands on the maximum-security prison Fiorina 161, where she discovers that she has unwittingly brought along an unwelcome visitor!
I found the film to be decent! It's not as good Aliens or even the first one, but it's decent & good for what it is! The actors do a good job & the story is straight forward enough! There's plenty of action despite it taking a bit of a while to kick in, along with some eye candy too!
The film has a decent runtime of 1 hour 44 minutes (104 minutes) & has some alright pacing despite it being sluggish to start of with! The effects are pretty decent & the horror & gore are not too bad at all!
I will say the film lacks in action & excitement as it does feature a lot of boring & dull dialogue to start with! The ending is pretty decent & ends on a sort of high note despite the rocky & sluggish start!
Overall, it's a pretty decent 3rd entry! Despite it suffering with some pacing issues a little & lacking in action, it's a pretty good film & slightly above average! Yeah, it's not as good as Aliens or Alien, it's worth a watch & pretty good considering!
7/10.
Three and Out (2008)
A Great Dark Comedy!
I remember this coming out back in the day when I was 13 & being so jarred off that I couldn't get in to see it due to the film being a 15! The film looked good judging by the trailers & advertisements & so, 5 years later I got this on DVD & gave it a watch! I will say I enjoyed the film & having recently seen it again after 10 years, I still enjoy it now!
A Tube Train Driver in London with a dream meets a man who wants to commit suicide after learning that he'll get 10 Years wages if he hits a person for the 3rd time in a scheme known as "3 & Out"! However, as the 2 bond & grow, it gets to the stage where a candicate to gain wealth isn't all what it seems...!
I found the film to be quite good! It's dark, funny & even romantic in places & plays pretty well as a drama film! The story is a unique one too & carries an interesting message! The message on far some of us are willing to go, desperation & caring about what matters most & making the most of life!
The film has a lot of familiar faces seen in a lot of British Films & TV Shows! They the actors do a good job with their roles & provide some good comedy, action & eye candy! There's some sad scenes here too as with some hilarious & dark ones, so watch out!
The film has a good runtime of 1 hour 34 minutes (94 minutes) along with some good pacing to go with it! The ending is bitter sweet, but albeit, a good ending to a great dark comedy film!
Overall, it's a good film! There's nothing much to fault with it as you get what's advertised pretty much! Give it a watch!

Falling Down (1993)
Brilliant Film!
Saw this years ago on TV after my Dad mentioned it to me & I absolutely loved it the second I seen it!
An ordinary man frustrated with the various flaws he sees in society begins to psychotically & violently lash out against them!
I found the film to be pretty ace stuff! The film starts off comedic, but, as it goes on, it becomes more dark, cold & realistic to what the films message is about!
Michael Douglas plays a good role here as do the other actors who play their roles well! The action is on top form & the comedy is pretty ace & dark at times too! The runtime is 1 hour & 44 minutes (104 minutes) & has some pretty good pacing to it as well!
There's a bit of eye candy & the brooding nature & musical score really add to the films feel & mood! You simply can't fault this film & even now as a fully grown & nearly 30-Year-Old Adult, I not only enjoy this film, but I understand it!
Overall, it's a 90's classic & one that you can easily relate to! Give it a watch if you haven't already, it's ace stuff!
