The Northman (2022)
Oh dear - what were you thinking?
Is this the alternative back story of Eric from True Blood where he doesn't become an immortal, sexy, rich vampire? Looked great - but a wasted couple of hours.
The Green Knight (2021)
NOW I KNOW WHO BOLDLY RAN AWAY
Oh dear. I love this kinda thing and Dev Patal - but really this is only for sir gwain story nutters. It made little sense to someone unfamiliar with the details of the myths. Sumptuous filmmaking nevertheless. Ho hum.
Mank (2020)
As confounding as Kane without the wonder
Looks great. Clever monologues and dialogue. Structurally incoherent.
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2020)
Screamingly funny
I think you need to get Borat to see the funny side of this. The Americans are mesmerisingly obliging - no matter what they are asked to do and Borat and his daughter might as well be aliens. Hilarious.
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
Da what?
Clunky, ugly, shouty and overbearing. This should have been a much better film but it lacked subtlety, any subtlety at all. It ain't no Apocalypse Now.
Guns Akimbo (2019)
Thanks Daniel
Very very violent - just like TV and games - but funny too. Always grand to see you on screen.
The Turning (2013)
Exquisite
Beautiful filmically. Poetic. So local it hurts. Love the short film format - clever - no final scenes or answers. Life? Made a whole lot of sense to me.
Utopia (2014)
How good is it to be retired!
What a beaut series. The grotesque day to day idiocy of office life set against the biggest stuff we dare to dream or connive. A wincing joy to watch. Thanks
The Spy (2019)
Grand
Always loved cohen's work - and now this - wow - impressive.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Wow. So8 blew my mind LOVED ep 6
Big fan of books & TV series. I reckon almost all the characters got the life they would enjoy, even if they were not reconciled with what that ended up as. Super duper TV series absolutely fantastic.
Dirty John (2018)
Eric Bana wow
What a riveting portrayal of a sociopath in everyday life. How brave for the women to tell the story. Really cleverly brought to the small screen. A knock out show.
Green Book (2018)
Wow
Clever, thoughtful, entertaining. Great script and performances. What a great film experience.
Sorry to Bother You (2018)
Sensational mindbender
Funny. Well made. What a story. Loved it. If you ever needed a reason not to work for THE Machine, then you should watch this. Classic.
Thunder Road (2018)
Painfully hopeful
Remarkably intense performance of a being on the edge of sanity set in the everyday of life. Great actor/writer/director piece.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Better than the original
Moody, thought provoking and beautifully made. It struggled less with its setting and time than it's predecessor.
Ghost Source Zero (2017)
Incomprehensible / unwatchable
Awful quality sound /vision. Pitiful script, direction, acting and camera work. Like a cheesy game, sadly lacking the capacity to kill the cast.
Beast (2017)
Fascinating...
Great story, cast, look and a sensational setting. Thought provoking. Gender, class, racial origins, social control, sex, expectation, regret and love are all central and compelling. I imagine a different ending...
Castle Rock (2018)
Beautifully ugly
Confused and long winded but strangely engaging. Not a fan of king or the genre, but love a lavish ($$$) series. Fine cast and setting. Almost didn't watch. Good filmmaking effort with a deliberately obtuse script. Keeps one guessing till the end - if you get there.
