Lucy (2014)
Interesting and very informative
If you don't believe in God, you'll love this movie, because Besson pounds home the "Big Bang Theory." If you do believe in God you'll still love this movie, because it will strengthen your faith in being created, rather then Besson's feeble, yet creative attempt explaining his beliefs.
This film reminds me of a script I once read while I was working at Universal Pictures in the 90's called 'Mastermind'. The protagonist was able to utilize 100% of his brain. There were a lot of similar types of subplots as well, but this movie went one step further and tried to sell the scientific aspect of the theory, which is where it became a tad slow.
Obviously a drug alone, cannot and will-not ever help us to reach those cranial heights of power, however the imagery was still unique and creative. It was very much like a great trip on Ecstacy, or magic mushrooms, or acid. All in all, we still really enjoyed the journey through time and the explanation of it all by the great Morgan Freeman.
Jersey Boys (2014)
Our Eyes Adored it....our hearts ached for more
Great movie...great music...great actors...what more could you ask for. I knew Eastwood began his life as a musician, but I didn't think he would do such a great job with a pseudo-musical. Great job Mr. Eastwood!
I've never seen the musical, but I gotta tell you, if you love 60's, 70's & 80's Frankie Valli songs, your eyes too will adore this movie... and your ears... and your heart... and the entire rest of your body.
It was heartbreaking at times...and I got chills several times while finding out how they came-up with some of their songs...like the death of his daughter. But, it was also very insightful into the lives of kids with dreams and how committed one has to be to make it in the music industry.
If I could give this movie a higher score I would. Our theater was packed-full and everyone clapped afterwards like we were watching a living bio-pic. I even saw a few people with tears in their eyes from being so deeply affected by the beautiful music and memories in this movie....so many great memories...that the songs take you back to.
