Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
What would you wish for if you had one chance?
I can't deny the overall story is not that great and very shallow, not sure how what they were thinking and how it got approved when they pitched the idea to the studio. There is no twists, mystery, suspense or subplots to keep you engaged and wanting to know what will happen next. The most exciting part for me was the beginning and it started dropping gradually from there. Also a lot of the scenes didn't make any sense, felt a bit rushed and not thought through carefully. It didn't help matters that WW character was written and presented as weak rather than vulnerable to server the story.
The action and Chorography were great but were let down by visual effects.
The acting by the 4 main characters was good specially Pedro. I think they did the best they could do with what they had.
The Cinematography by Matthew Jensen and the Music by Hans Zimmer were top notch.
Costumes, set designs, makeup, special effects etc.. were all good. Really felt like the 80's.
Overall I think the movie was a mistake and not that enjoyable, more of a 6 and 1/2 stars because all of the good work done by some of the departments.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
I Saw you and then, all my nights turned morning. ja ja ding dong
Its really rare for me to find a movie that resonate with me and touch me on the inside, get my attention and make me glued to the screen wanting to know what will happen next and cheer for the actors like i was cheering for my country, family or friends. on the surface the movie might look stupid and dumb but if you look beneath that, its really a great movie with a strong message. even the dumb acting was acted perfectly if that make any sense. i laughed, i cried, i held tears and i cheered. i only took 1 star because some of the songs weren't lip synced properly or something, but was still great nonetheless..
The Gentlemen (2019)
WOW
What a movie, had to review straight away. writing, acting, music, directing, etc.. everything is a top notch specially the story an all the twist, reveal, twist reveal, .. grip you from the start till the last minute and make you hungry for more. Fingers crossed another quality sequel soon !!!
Glass (2019)
Dark superhero psychological thriller
Well, this movie is not for everyone. If you watched and liked "Unbreakable" 20 years ago and liked James McAvoy epic performance in "split" you will probably enjoy this one.
If you are expecting Bruce Willies Die Hard flick or a Marvel Superhero action you will probably be in for disappointment.
This is more of a Dark superhero psychological thriller. i personally liked it and got immersed in it, and couldn't wait to know what will happen.
I wasn't very happy about the ending, but didn't hate it either. I didn't like it cause it didn't satisfy me wanting more, which is the same reason i didn't hate it cause it gave me hope of having more but in a different way.
1917 (2019)
Masterpiece, Go see it in cinema!
Just came back from the movie, Glad i watched this on the big screen!
The whole movie is like a piece of art with non-stop action, emotion and intensity that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Yes the story is simple and ending is predictable, we all know what happened in WWI, but that doesn't take away the beauty of story telling without the need for words.
The direction, music, sounds, production design, screenplay and most importantly the cinematography are some of the best i have seen in a long time all combined together in one movie. The amount of hard work i have seen in the making of video is simply mind blowing.
Can't wait to watch this again...
Lucky Day (2019)
My Lucky Day
My lucky day i watched this after the low ratings it got. There are unusual movies that are just weird and doesn't click and then there is this unusual movie which transport you into a another fascinating world and that's exactly what this movie did for me. Yes its a simple fiction story but in a great atmosphere with a beautiful sound track, yet still suspenseful and gripping all at the same time.
The small cast was all great, everyone acted their role to perfection and the connection and chemistry between them felt real. Crispin Glover character was really funny, not sure why people are taking it too seriously.
Was also pretty impressed by the values the character showed in the story, The loving Husband and father, the loyal loving wife, the caring and honest cop and the friendship.
The script, direction, sets and camera work were all great, i can't fault them
Killerman (2019)
Very Underrated
Very underrated. its not winning any Oscars but it doesn't deserve that low score either. some of the acting, screenplay etc.. is not that great which is expected for a small budget movie, but the story overall is good and the movie is fast paced. If you are not looking for perfection its a nice crime thriller with a twist.
Kin (2018)
Nice popcorn flick, wanna see KIN 2 now
I just watch movies for entertainment when i m bored and usually do other stuff while watching. that movie made me curious though and wanted to know what will happen next. reminded me of older classic sci-fi movies and the newflix show stranger things. overall good movie with small budget and lots of potential for a sequel with hopefully a bigger budget and not just the usual B rated ripoff sequel.
Odd Thomas (2013)
Very good teen/scary movie
Great teen/scary movie. Stephen Sommers (Catch me if you can, G.I. Joe 1) did a great job directing and producing this movie. sfx & action scenes are very good for the budget. Anton - Odd Thomas (Star Trek ay ay captain ) acting was very good for a 1st lead role. and Addison - Stormy (Californication) was hot and very likable, wish she was on screen more. new fresh story that grabs you from the beginning to the end of the movie with no dull moments and twists and surprises along the way. highly recommended.
PS: some people gave it low score because of the book. i didn't read the book i prefer reading the books after watching the movies as they are usually more detailed and satisfy your imagination.
