Night Court (2023)
Stands on its own
The first couple episodes so far are pretty good. It's missing some of the magic of the original. The casting isn't the greatest. Olivia de Beaufort is a little over the top with her delivery, almost like she's performing on Broadway in front of a crowd.
So great to see John Larroquette back and looking healthy after the passing of so many of the originals in such a short amount of time.
Melissa Rauch is doing a pretty good job at leading lady. One of my favorites is the clerk, his delivery is great for being relatively unknown.
The show has the opportunity to be really good, and looking forward to seeing where they take the show from here.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: The People vs. Emil Blonsky (2022)
Dumpster fire
I mean I don't know who is writing this stuff or who even the farther audience is. The episodes just get worse and worse as the series goes on. The writers and directors shouldn't be working in the industry ever again.
Is Kevin Fiege just not directing the massive money making ship that is Marvel anymore?! What happened to the magic that was Marvel?
Zero charisma, zero character, zero likability, zero character development, almost no conflict, but the conflict that is there is boring.
Seriously almost puked in my mouth at the She-Hulk twerking scene at the end. Was completely disgusted. If Disney doesn't come through with some quality content soon I'll be canceling my subscription.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Could be better
First, yes the CGI is not as good as a huge budget blockbuster movie that will gross $1 Billion. You can't expect it to be. But it is still good enough to enjoy the series.
That being said, they totally rushed and botched her origin story. They rushed her through controlling her powers which took Bruce years to do.
The runtime is so short, only 20 minutes. You can't get any momentum going with that short. It's like they're only telling half a story each episode. Hopefully I'll be able to update after the next episode.
Alone: Drop Shock (2022)
Good season, but...
First off, the person I was rooting for won so that makes me feel good. The person was very likable, was smart about their choices and kept a positive attitude.
But every time one person came on the screen that pretty much had their teeth rotting out of their mouth I had to fast forward through. The person was extremely annoying to add to it.
Mysterious Planet (2019)
Stop with the puns
Beautiful filmography ruined by David Schwimmer's voice and jokes that not a single viewer will find funny, especially with his dry narration and horrible comedic timing. Nothing about the writing and narration complements what could be a beautiful documentary.
Reacher (2022)
Predicable but good
They telegraph the twists and turns way ahead of time so they're not surprising at all. If someone seems like they're a bad guy, they are. But with that being said, it's still really enjoyable to watch. Action sequences are well done, even. Somehow this series is very stereotypical of big tough guy hero that breaks the rules to get justice, but I still binge watched it all in one night.
Shut your brain off and enjoy!!
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
The X-Men deserve better
After the first generation of X-Men movies having the perfect casting for Professor X, Wolverine, and Magneto, and all being legends already. Then add in having great casting for others. This generation of X-Men movies just can't compare.
You'd think they'd try with more powerful stories, or at least competent casting, or at least better direction because a lot of the acting is lifeless. And this last installment just completely falls flat. Worst story, acting, direction, casting, costume design and special effects.
There really isn't one redeeming quality of this movie. Even the pinnacle of the movie, The Phoenix finally being set free is completely underwhelming.
I do enjoy some of these actors in other roles, especially Michael Fassbender. They probably could have cast a better Magneto though, and Michael did the best he could, he just wasn't right for the role.
I really have no idea what they were attempting for this film, because it never succeeded in any aspect. I hope Marvel/Disney does better. With the rich plethora of material and storylines, the X-Men deserve better.
Anna (2019)
Could be better
This movie had a lot of promise. Maybe with a different director it could be better. Some of the action scenes, especially the driving scenes are very unconvincing. I mean turning the wheel half an inch to make a 90 degree turn? The lead actor and some of the other characters did a pretty good job with what they had. The jumping around in the timeline works for some movies, but this one just feels clunky.
Dinosaurs Inside & Out: And Then There Were None (1997)
Nice series
Very interesting series and entertaining. Not many docuseries about dinosaurs are this good, even nowadays. But whoever the sound engineer was failed bad. The narrator is quiet, interviewed people are loud, and the intro music is ear-splitting loud. Why is everything at such different sound levels?
The Masked Singer: All Time Countdown (2021)
Why?
Just a waste of an episode. Just highlights from previous seasons. Extremely boring. Just skip this one, save room on your DVR, read a book, play with your kids, schedule a colonoscopy, you're not missing anything.
The Masked Singer: Giving Thanks (2021)
Puke
The show was pretty good, definitely not the best, but until the last contestants... yuck. I had to mute it part way through their horrendous song. Absolutely disgusting. Right up there with Roseanne singing the national anthem.
The Amber Ruffin Show (2020)
How?!?!
How did she get a show?!
Can Tarik Davis be the host instead? He at least has humor, wit, charisma and comedic timing, all things that Amber Ruffin lacks. Maybe if she says her lines with an even bigger toothy smile they'll be funny.... Nope, didn't work. Evert time she opens her mouth it's just cringy and off-putting. I tried watching a few episodes but end up changing the channel, actually feeling bad for her while thinking "no girl, please stop"
Dinoshark (2010)
So bad it's not even funny
You gotta know if Eric Balfour is in a movie, it'll be horrible.
HORRIBLE: CGI
HORRIBLE: acting
HORRIBLE: action sequences
HORRIBLE: writing
HORRIBLE: direction
I mean I knew this was going to be bad like Sharknado or something and was ready for it, but this was just one of movies that you can't be prepared enough to enjoy.
In Time (2011)
Just too many plot holes
The premise is weird, and not carried out well. Decent acting throughout. But way too many plot holes and things left unexplained.
Tomorrow, When the War Began (2010)
Australian Red Dawn
Cheap knock-off of Red Dawn. Not as good of actors or writing.
Dumbest part is when everyone is asleep, and one wakes up and says "what's that smell?" because the sound of 50 jets flying low to attack didn't wake her up, but the very slight smell of jet fuel?
It's amusing, and pretty good action, but definitely wouldn't pay to see this.
Rutherford Falls (2021)
Gave it a shot
Really wanted this to be good. I like Ed Helms a lot, he's talented and has great comedic timing. Sadly, he's not a good comedy writer, because over 2 episodes in and I'm still waiting for a hint of comedy in.... you know..... a COMEDY series.
It's mildly amusing (being generous), and the acting is decent, but as a comedy it falls flat.
Radioflash (2019)
Why?
The movie started out decent enough, felt like they were building up to something good, then it turned into a bad version of "The Hills Have Eyes"
Buddy Games (2019)
Fuddy duddy games
Not really a funny moment, even a drunk frat boy would think the comedy is childish.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
Definitely worth watching
Very good adaptation of the video game and cartoon series. It sets out to be a family and kid movie, and the adults will certainly enjoy it too. Very entertaining and enough scenes to make you laugh without being an all out comedy, but to keep you having a good time.
Colossal (2016)
Missing something
It's a tale of two different movies that they tried to "cleverly" splice together. The only problem is, they forgot how to transition it. They were going for a twist, but left parts of the movie unconnected instead. If you blinked in the wrong part of the movie, you'd think you fell asleep and woke up halfway through a different movie.
The movie is clever in that after one of the characters turns, you can see hints that he's always been that way. But to give you that twist, they forgot about building the rest of the story.
It kept my attention, and was amusing at times, Anne Hathaway did a pretty good job for what she was given. But I was still just left going "WTF" is this for most of the movie.
They tried to be clever, but tried too hard and it landed flat.
Resident Alien (2021)
Different... in a good way!
A different take on sci-fi and aliens. But even if you don't like that style of entertainment, still give it a shot because it's more than that. Plus, Alan Tudyk plays the character SO GOOD!! The sheriff on the show is a bit annoying, and the way the adults parent their kids and don't know they're missing is a bit unbelievable. But if you can get past that, you'll really enjoy the show. The back and forth between Alan's character and several of the other characters is funny as hell. One of my favorite new shows.
Rob Riggle Global Investigator (2019)
We need more!!
Love Rob Riggle. He brings his special brand of goofy to educational topics. Can't get enough of this show and really hoping they'll make more seasons.
Debris (2021)
Trying
I'm trying to give this show a chance, but Jonathon Tucker's bad acting and weird facial expressions is making it difficult. The premise is already difficult to swallow. I'm only 4 episodes in and hoping it gets better.
The Great Escapists (2021)
Wtf?
Horrible acting, horrible writing, completely unbelievable, even the parts that are supposed to be funny are just cringy at the failed attempt to be funny. Just all around bad. I'm really enjoyed Tory on MythBusters, but acting just isn't for him. Never really liked Richard Hammond, and this show reminded me why.
Two and a Half Men: The 9:04 from Pemberton (2013)
Bye bye
Pretty much everyone has jumped ship, and the ship is sinking fast. Hardly anymore Jake, even Judith and Evelyn don't appear anymore. Almost no Rose.
If I wasn't laid off during a pandemic, I wouldn't be watching. Thank god for Berta.
