Rosebud Lane (2023)
An Exceptional Collision of Two Worlds
Rosebud Lane is many things, at it's core the film is a gushing love letter to the great and colorful history of Hollywood and it's many triumphs. Yet the film doesn't stop at merely honoring the past, it in itself presents as a classic work of Hollywood days long past. The film picks you up in a sepia toned-esque presentation of two vastly different worlds forced together, that of the polished world of Los Angeles and rougher world of the Blue Ridge Mountains and then plays the events like a modern Tennessee Williams outing. The lead cast truly shines in their respective roles, the dynamics between Brad Abrell and Tyne Stecklein charge the film with life, energy and believability. Tyne herself is the beating heart and soul of the movie, her and director John Lacy create a truly remarkable character. That likes of which might not have been achieved with any other pairing. The film also finds an excellent antagonist in the work of Wes Robertson as the menacing and yet sympathetic Boone. The world is believable, the story is potent and the film is one you don't want to miss. Between the performances, the director and the story itself... Rosebud Lane feels like a real street we'd all be so lucky to visit.
Saturday Night Live: Donald Trump/Sia (2015)
This Is Bad
Yikes. What else do I have to say.
This is the most uncomfortable thing I've probably ever had to sit through. It's bad, it's not funny, it's just a mess.
Custody Road (2018)
An Edge of Your Seat Thriller
Custody Road is a masterclass in layering a character. The film presents a colorful cast of individuals but not a single one is what they seem.
They all have hidden motives, secrets and a unique look at the world. The whole movie the viewer is left wondering who to root for because it seems to switch and alternate constantly.
Combine that masterfully done thriller with gorgeous landscape and excellent camera work and you've got an edge of your seat ride start to finish.
The Silverback (2019)
A Masterclass in Surprise
Writer, Actor and Director Liam Connaughton creates a vastly explored world in his work. He creates colourful yet believable characters that the audience grows to love.
By the time the end comes, you and shocked and at the same time delighted by what has been revealed.
