Satellite technology is revolutionizing how we see — and protect — the world. Modern satellites can track emissions as they’re released, follow deforestation in real-time and can even aid in local law enforcement efforts. However, while space technology delivers an incredible wealth of information, turning this raw data into something usable remains a work in progress. Nature examines the current relationship between satellite technology and the law, along with the future of the field.
