Data Flow Diagram Exercise

A data flow diagram illustrates the processes and flow of data for an ATM transaction. The diagram shows a customer inserting their card which provides card details to validate the customer's pin against pin details to check if the pin is correct. If valid, the customer enters an amount which is checked against the customer's balance from their account. If sufficient funds exist, the transaction is completed.

Consider the problem of obtaining money from an ATM cash machine. You need to determine that the user of the ATM is a valid user, and that the user of the ATM has enough money in their account to complete the transaction. Draw a data flow (level 1) diagram to illustrate the logical flow of data and the processes necessary for the transaction.
