Case Studyethics

Carla, a human resources executive, was asked to provide executive profiles for succession planning. She had a consulting firm conduct the assessments to avoid misinterpretation. However, Carla later found that the Vice President made changes to some of the summaries without informing her, which violated her ethics. She must now decide whether to risk confronting her superior about the unauthorized changes even if it endangers her job. While accepting the changes would be safer, asking respectfully for an explanation of the edits could help her fulfill her responsibilities without creating conflict. As a manager, Carla should make decisions that consider employee morale while also standing up for her principles in a tactful manner.
