I used to live in this area when I was a child. (used to + inf.) She didnt use to have short hair. (didnt use to + inf.) Did John use to get up this early when he was at school? (Did +subject + use to + inf.?) We use "used to" and Past Simple to talk about past habits, actions and states: I went/used to go fishing with my dad every summer when I was young. I ate/used to eat a lot of sweets in the past but Im on a diet now. She was/used to be a doctor before she got married and move to We use "would" to talk only about past habitual actions.
