Lesson 20 - Basic French

The imperfect tense in French is used to describe recurring or habitual past actions and states. It can refer to what regularly happened in the past or what something was like in the past. The imperfect tense is also often used with the perfect tense to describe an action that was interrupted by another past event denoted by the perfect tense, such as "I was eating when you called."
