The summary throughout infers about, our ignorance of understanding from history in
context of modern financial crisis, but in the introduction author signaled that book is
about evolution of finance which facilitated the human progress
The origins of Banking Explanation about the application of mathematics to the
finance, which made possible the bookkeeping and related calculations(Leonardo of
Pisa, or Fibonacci) is missing,
About the bankruptcy and its relationship with success as an entrepreneur has been not
mentioned
Human Bondage-Relationship between bond price and inflation had been mentioned
but the basic cause of inflation is missing, in the book Argentina and Germany
hyperinflation has been mentioned explicitly in the context of government spending
more than its tax revenue
Blowing Bubbles The book has explicitly talked about the drivers and characteristics of
stock market bubbles which are the central theme of the issue, summery has missed the
important point; same is true for stock market mood example displacement, euphoria
etc
The first company and the beginnings of the stock market- John Laws ponzi scheme
has been mentioned but what was it about, is not explained. In the same line the
similarity between Enron and John Law is not described that both promised huge
returns at no risks.
Risky Business-New Orleans insurance problem has been not elaborated as stated in
the book, which tells about how modern insurance deserted to insure those who
needed it the most and also the fraudulent tactics of insurance companies
The safe houses-The other reason beside shelter of owning a house is not been talked
about. Real state was perceived as a better investment without considering the issues of
liquidity and depreciation which discouraged the investors to put their money
elsewhere, like in stock market.
Poor judgment of the solvency in the context subprime would have explained the
subprime crisis better
