As per ancient Hindu literature, an 'Andam' is composed of 14 lokas (worlds), wh

ich we commonly refer to as 'Eeraezhu Pathinalu Lokangal'. Of these 14 lokas, 7

are grouped as 'Mel lokas' or Upper lokas and 7 are called 'Keelzh lokas' or Low
er lokas. The world we live in, 'Bhooloka' is the bottom-most of the 7 Upper lok
as. The list of 7 upper lokas is as follows, from bottom to top
Bhoohu
Bhuvaha-resides the navagrahas in the form of planets
Suvaha- resides the rishis
Mahar- resides the ganadevas:who are the regents or rulers of the Kalpa, the Kal
pdhikris
Janah- resides sanandan and pure minded sons of brahma and demigods
Tapah- resides deities called Vaibhrjas
Satyah- resides brahma.
Bhoohu is the earth we live in, called 'Bhooloka'. The third loka, namely 'Suvah
a' is called as 'Suvargam' or Heaven. It is the kingdom of Lord Indira and inhab
ited by the Devas. The upper-most loka, 'Satyah' is the abode of lord Brahma.
Now let us look at the seven (Keelzh) bottom lokas. The list from top to bottom
is as follows
Athalah
Vithalah
Suthalah
Tharaathalah
Mahaathalah
Rasaathalah
Paathalah
We use the word Paathalah often in our conversation to refer to any deep trench
in the ground.
Bhuloka, Bhuvarloka, Suvarloka, Maharloka, Janaloka, Tapoloka and Satyaloka
Moreover this is what we say in praananayamya in sandhyavandhane..... OM Bhoohu
bhuvaha suvaha mahaha janaha tapaha ogum satyam....
