Detailed Study:
1. School Education in India is classified into various levels:
a) Various Standards
School Education in India starts from Pre-school. Mostly dominated by Private
Sectors, Pre School has different names (Montessori, Kindergarten (Lower and Upper)
and functionalities. However, Education at this level is not compulsory in India.
Children from age six will be attending Primary school starting from First to Fifth
standard/class/grade.
Children from age eleven are into Middle School starting from Sixth to eighth
standard/class/grade.
Children from age fourteen are into Secondary School studying ninth and tenth

Education Standards which is the deciding factor for the students to pursue their Higher/
College Education.

b) Educators
Education is provided in India by Public Government schools (funded and run by
the Government of India). These schools are huge in numbers and are controlled by
various authorities like Central Government, State Government, Corporations, Panchayats
etc. But the drawback is lack of sufficient infrastructure, funding and shortage of staff
members.
Overcoming the above drawbacks education is provided in high standards by
Private schools. In India, high majority of parents prefer to send their children to a private
school. However, cost of education is comparatively high in Private Schools. There are
also few international/ residential schools in major cities.
National open schools provide education up to the higher secondary level for
children who were unable to complete their formal education. Special-needs schools
provide non-formal education and vocational training to children with physical and
mental challenges.

2. Numerous Autonomous Bodies (Education Developmental Programmes) are functioning in

India controlled/ Monitored by our Government focusing in establishing new Educational
standards:
Various Programmes categorized under various levels of school education for
various levels of students are constituted by our Indian Government keeping in mind to
provide education of equitable quality to fully harness the nations human potential,
reinforce the national and integrative character of education in partnership with
States/UTs, improve quality and standards of school education and literacy towards
building a society committed to Constitutional values, universalise elementary education
in keeping with the rights conferred under the RTE Act, Universalise opportunities for
quality secondary education and to establish a fully literate society.

institutions and facilitating setting up of new ones
Initiate policy-level changes in terms of institutional and systematic reforms, which
further create a world-class secondary education curriculum that is able to generate
brilliance among the children.
3. Keen interest is shown by the Government and Public Sectors in developing the infrastructure of
Schools.

Conferencing Classes, Smart Classrooms (Digi Board), Computerized Library, Constantly
updating the Library, Media Centre, Hi Fi Laboratories etc.
4. Standard of School Students in India is only just above average, as they have very less exposure
in Practical Methodology. However, convincing initiatives are taken by the Government to
ensure better practical exposure for the students by involving various industrial institutions.
5. Text Books are provided by the Government based on syllabus which will be constantly updated.
6. Few surveys conducted in the recent past conclude that, the students are little bit slower in
learning Mathematics. The survey also states that the students are showing interest in History and
Geography. However, this survey is limited to School level education and it does not have any
impact on College Education.
7. Government of India also provides opportunity to continue education for the dropped out
students and also ensures education to be provided for the maximum children in the Nation.
