WRKMSGDCommandsyntaxdiagram
Purpose
TheWorkwithMessageDescriptions(WRKMSGD)commandallowstheusertodisplay
andworkwithdetailedinformationaboutthemessagescontainedinamessagefile.This
commandisusedtoadd,change,display,print,andremovemessagedescriptions.When
messagedescriptionsarechangedbyusingthisdisplay,thecurrentvaluesforthemessage
areshowninthecommandprompt.However,thereisa512characterlimitforthesecond
levelmessagetext.
OptionalParameters
MSGID
Specifiesthemessageidentifierwithwhichtobeginshowingalistofmessage
descriptionsinthemessagefilespecifiedbytheMSGFparameter.
*FIRST:Thefirstmessagedescriptioninthemessagefileisfirstinthemessagelist
display.
messageID:Specifythemessageidentifierusedtobeginthemessagelistdisplay.
Themessageidentifiermustbesevencharactersinlengthandinthe
format,pppmmnn.
Thefirstthreecharacters(ppp)mustbeginwithacodeconsistingofanalphabetic
characterfollowedbytwoalphanumeric(alphabeticordecimal)characters;thelast
fourcharacters(mmnn)mustconsistofdecimalvaluesrangingfrom0through9and
thecharactersAthroughF.
MSGF
Specifiesthequalifiednameofthemessagefilefromwhichthemessagedescriptions
aretaken.
Thenameofthemessagefilecanbequalifiedbyoneofthefollowinglibraryvalues:
*LIBL:Alllibrariesinthejob'slibrarylistaresearcheduntilthefirstmatchis
found.
