Day Tripper
Here are your teachers plans for a day trip next Saturday.
Test your teachers memory. Ask him/her questions using the future continuous tense.
When you ask your teacher questions, use times in between those written in the timetable,
e.g. quarter past nine not nine oclock.
Structure: What will you be doing at?
Example: Student: What will you be doing at half past one on Saturday?
Teacher: Ill be swimming in the sea.
Now, create your own timetable for a day trip next Saturday.

Day Tripper
In this fun exercise, students use the future continuous tense to ask and answer questions
about a planned day trip.
Before class, make one copy of the worksheet for each student. You must also try to
memorize the timetable of your day trip.
Procedure
Distribute a copy of the worksheet to each student.
Bring the students' attention to your timetable. Explain that next Saturday you are going on a
day trip. Tell the students that the timetable shows what you will be doing on that day.
Tell the students that they should ask about times in between those written in the timetable,
e.g. quarter past nine not nine oclock.
Introduce the question: What will you be doing at...?
Have the students ask you questions to test your memory of the timetable.
Example:
Student: What will you be doing at half past one on Saturday?
You: Ill be swimming in the sea.
Student: What will you be doing at three oclock in the afternoon?
You: Ill be having a picnic.
Get the students to plan their own timetables for a day trip next Saturday. These timetables
could be imaginary or about real plans the students have.
Divide the class into pairs.
The students swap timetables and ask questions to test each others memory using the
future continuous tense.
The winners are the students who answer all the questions correctly.
