Hearsay Exceptions Cheat Sheet

This document provides a cheat sheet on hearsay exceptions, defining hearsay as an out-of-court statement offered to prove the truth of the matter asserted, and the declarant as the person who originally made the statement. It lists prior inconsistent statements and admissions by a defendant or party opponent as not hearsay. The document also lists present sense impressions, excited utterances, statements of then-existing mental/emotional/physical conditions, medical diagnoses, and business records as hearsay exceptions. Finally, it lists former testimony under oath, dying declarations, statements against interest, and statements against a person who made the declarant unavailable as hearsay exceptions if the declarant is unavailable.
