CA Aggregation - Introduction

DL Carrier Aggregation is RL45TD feature (LTE 1558 Carrier Aggregation)


is that brings into life the LTE Advanced concept

Primary aim of the feature is to boost mean and peak user throughput
via sending the user data simultaneously over two carriers

Maximum achievable peak user throughput could be doubled in contrast


to non-CA case

To make the aggregation of carriers possible, regular cell is paired with


additional logical cell serving the same geographical site sector

The feature supports intra-band carrier aggregation for


20 MHz + 20 MHz channel bandwidths

There is no carrier aggregation in the uplink direction

This counter shows average number of DL CA
capable UEs and the the average number of UEs in
the current cell, which have a configured SCell.
NOTE : The reported value is 100 times higher than the actual
value (for example 1.00 is stored as 100).

Peak PDCP Throughput on DL CA Cell reaching


around 170 Mbps
