make him responsive, receptive, and proactive. It is possible because music
encompasses the greatest diversity of activities since they deal with thoughts,
feelings, creative thinking, physical movements, vocalization, words, and the
opportunity for self and human understanding. Involvement in music making
activities can help in the understanding of ones self and the individuals role
in nation building, as well the world.
Involvement in music making activities is valuable sources of learning
experiences. In fact, a participation in a workshop will give participant
beneficial opportunities to learn by doing through experimentation,
exploration, and discovery while building self-control and a positive selfimage. Furthermore, it will also motivate learning and promote collaborative

For the students:
1. Provide a better understanding of how music can contribute in

addressing some problems and issues in the community and society;


2. Equip the students with experience and competency in designing a
community development plan that will make use of the arts;
3. Develop a workshop material in music that will integrate values
formation and learning experiences that will promote social awareness.
For the workshop participants:
1. Provide basic training in musical performance;
2. Equip the workshop participants with fundamental knowledge and

practical skills in music;


3. Promote social awareness and inculcate values which will contribute in

creating a better community and to the nation-building as a whole.
