DESCRIPPION OF PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION FOR REGULATOR Voltage regulator RNGY/D consists of three basic functional blocks : excitation system (phase compounding system), control unit and UWD - circuit, Excitation system assures transmission to winding clamps of excitation of rectifier exciter a current signal, adequate to the given conditions of generator loading. Parameters of excitation system are so selected, that its out-coming curent assures the excitation of generator to voltage higher than the rated voitage (1.2 + 1.3 Un at the no-loaded running). Keeping the steady voltage value of generator on the rated value is done by shuting action with regulating SCR unit on out-put current ol phase compounding \y.tem,EFA DTR-A-RNGY /D-124—AR-96/05 page: 9 pages : 45 1.4.1, Excitation system Excitation system of generator RNGY/D is a system of regulating phase compounding with parallel summing up of current signals coming from two pathes: voltage and current feed-back pathes. The voltage feed-back path contains feeder reactor XDL and delivers current signal proportional to the voltage Ug of generator. The current feed-back path consists of current transformers XTI (outside the generator) fixing the current signal proportional to the load current Ig of generator. Both alternating current signals after summing up(as to amplitude and phase) make the output current of the @ phase compounding system The generator excitation breaker Wi (drawing $.124.01/AR) is connected on the output of the phase compounding system. De-energizing of generator follows by short-circuit with contacts of output switch ofgy the phase compounding system. Output current of the phase compounding system is transmitted into the three -phase excitation rectifier, co-operating with regulating system consisting of two rectifying diodes D4,D5 and SCR unit TY1. Output of the rectifier is connected to clamp F1,F2 of excitation winding through Pl current transformer of UWD circuit. The excitation system consists of the following elements: - three-phase feeder reactor XDL (No 2 on the drawing S.124.01/AR), - three single-phase current transformers XTI (No 1), - excitation rectifier D1-D3,D11,D6-D8 with SCR unit regulation system D4,D5,TY1 (No 3,13, 4,8, 26), - breaker of generator excitation Wi (No T). These elements in connection according to diagram S.124.01/AR make three ~phase circuit delivering an adequate quantity of power to excite control winding of the rotational rectifier exciter. Parameters of the compounding system are so selected, that output @ current of the system assures the maintaining on clamps of generator, a higher voltage than a rated voltage so called ceiling voltage. The compounding system is over compensated. The duty of SCR unit of controlling system is such an operation on th@ surplus of output current, that voltage on generator clamp was constant and equal to the rated voltage, independently from leading current of generator. In the system of regulator RNGY/D operation of SCR unit TY-1 (drawing $.124.01/A) consists in periodical! shuting output current of the compounding system. The shunted current is cut off from excitation circuit of excitor as a result of its short-circuit in the compounding system Passage of the current mentioned above takes place in circuits of phase R,S of the compounding circuit, rectyfying diodes D4,D5,SCR unit TY-1, diodes D6-D8 of excitation rectifier, phase of compounding circuit.EFA DTR-A-RNGY/D-124-AR-96/05 page : 10 pages : 45 An adequate time of switching on SCR unit (short-circuit of compounding system output current) assures the control unit signal, which gives the ignition impulse on the base of voltage measurement of generator clamps. 1.4.2. Action of UWD circuit is signallized by contacts of P2 relay connected to terminals 72,73, 74 and 75. e oEFA DTR-A-RNGY/D-124-AR-96/05 page : 18 pages : 45 2. ASSEMBLY AND STARTING UP In order to execute the assembly and start up the regulator the following activities should to be done - visual inspection - insulation state test = assembly - starting up generator with regulator - running under load - parallel running @ 2.1 visvat inspection Before assembling the regulator a compability of types of the regulators with generator, with that the regulator is to cooperate, @ shoutd be examined at First on the data piatS and the compability of serial numbers of XTI transformers an RNGY/D regulator. List of adequate types of generators and regulators RNGY/D cooperating with each other has been shown table No T. 124.10/AR. List of cooperating RNGY/D regulators and XTI current transformers has been shown in table No T.124.10/AR too. It should be examined if there are no mechanical damages and impurities on elements and subassemblies of the regulator. State of contacts, screw and solder connexions and state of insulation of conductors, state of insulation plates and winding units of the regulators should be examined 2.2. INSULATING TESTING Before measurement of resistance - disconnect earth condictor of RFI capacitors from earth terminal, - clamps R,S,T,F1,F2 - (circuit 1) should be short-circuited, - clamps m,n,a,b,e,f,8,- (circuit II) should be short-circuited. 7 clamps T0,71 - (circuit III) should be short-circuited. clamps 12,13, 14,75 - (circuit IY) should be short-circuited. clamps p(+) , r(-) - (circuit V) should be short-circuited The measurement should be done by means of indictive Ohmmeter of insulation resistance of voltage 500 V between circuits mentioned above and between these circuits and earthing clamp Result of test is positive, insulation resistance is not less than 20 MM . If it is not so the regulator should be dried by intensive blow of hot air and re-meassurement of insulation resistance should be done again. %EFA DTR-A-RNGY /D-124—-AR-96/05 page : 19 | pages : 45 2.3. ASSEMBLY Regulators RNGY/D in dependance on constructional version are designed | for assembling in switchboard - execution IPO0 or out of switchboard - execution IP-23. Version of the regulator in leakprocf cover IP-23,is a wall-mounting version. | The regulators without cover of protection degree IPOO and XTI | transformers should be mounted in generator panel of switchboard current Transformers must be mounted on corresponding generator phases. Designation of phase of XTI transformer is done on the name plate of transformer, near the serial number, corresponding to regulator number @y For example, transformer having a serial number 31-U/83 must be installed on the U-phase bus bar of generator together with RNGY/D regulator having serial number 31/81. RNGY/D regulators having IP-23 protection degree are installed on the @ wall outside the switchboard. XTI transformers for that regulators are installed inside the switchboard according above described method Method of mounting XTI current transformers on the generator bus must be preserved by designer of electrical network for the strip Assembling place of the regulator should be free of additional source of heat, exceeding temperature of environment above 50°C and also fr of dusts and caustic chemical fumes In place of mounting the regulator the natural flow of air should be assured, After foundation of the regulator its earthing should be done, connecting earthterminal with earthconductor of earth termination network. Then external connexion of the regulator according to diagram S.124.04/AR or S.124,05/AR should be done, depending on whether regulator is anticipated for individual or parallel running According above mentioned diagrams, connections of XTI transformers with regulator and star connection of secondary windings (terminals 1 - 1 - 1) of XTI transformers should be done @ 2.4. STARTING UP OF GENERATOR WITH THE REGULATOR Adjust breaker Wi of the regulator into position "Excitation" Start up driving motor of generator & Self-acting excitation of generator to rated voltage Un should take place. At rated revolution the voltage of generator at no-load running should be equal to the rated voltage with accuracy t 1,5 % of Un. If not, undo lock-out of voltage compensator R1 and turning with axis of potentiometer, check a generator voltage to the rated value After adjusting re-lock the axis of potentiometer 2.5. INDIVIDUAL RUNNING UNDER LOAD Load the generator gradually fluently or by-step in the range of loads from zero to rated one (0-1) .In at various power factors in the range of cos # = 1+0.6 ind. Accuracy of voltage stabilization should be better than # 1,5 % UnEFA DTR-A-RNGY/D-124-AR-96/05 page : 20 pages : 45 2.6. PARALLEL RUNNING When generators co-operating and switched on common bus bar for parallel running,do gradually fluently or by-step load of co-operating set in the range of (0 +1.0) In at the power factor about 0.8 ind Record the reactive power propagation between co-operating generators. In the case of non correct reactive power distribution (5 per cent exceeding the rated reactive power of the biggest generator set), regula in of reactive power distribution system should be done. It is (in the way of) the only one and the most frequent regulation which should be done during the starting up regulators RNGY/D on ship. This results from no other possibility of final turning of reactive Brower distribution system with manufacturer generator The regulation is carried out by means of the reactive power distribution compensators after previous unlocking the locknut controlling their axés. Dorrection or reactive power distribution should be started from generator over loading itself with reactive power. It the range of regulation of the compensators is too small for equalizing the reactive power propagation, the range should be shifted by means of adjustable resistor 21(upper resistor of slipper 1R). Pre-regulation of adjustable resistor 21 should amount to about 30 9 that corresponds to about 1/8 of lenght of the total resistor. 2.7. START-UP TEST OF TUBULAR RUDDER MOTOR Start-up of tubular rudder motor or othe tors should make in scheme of connections according with drawing no h regulators RNGY/D are sinchronized high power asynchronous mo- $.124.04/AR = it is in individual circuit operation. To terminals p(+) , r(-) of regulator connect external supply voltage 24 V DC. Power-driven generator with rating speed and without load - de-energizing by switch breaker Wi in position “FIELD-SUPRESION” Bonnect motor to bus of generator U, W, and follow excitation menerator by switch breaker W1 in position "EXCITATION" Should be write value of current and time start-up of motor. Time of start-up should not exceed 15 secund, however jump load of evn motor should not exceed value 50% its rating power. 3- SERVICE INSTRUCTION 3.1. INTRODUCTORY NOTES Service of generator under normal, failureless exploitation conditions is very simple. The excitation of generator proceeds automatically by starting up driving motor Stabilization of voltage level and reactive power distribution proceeds on automatically More over, work of the regulator should be checked periodically. Especially the parameters of electric energy produced by generators co-operating with the regulators should be checked.EFA DTR-A-RNGY /D-124-AR-96/05 page : 24 pages : 45 3.2. EXCITATION OF GENERATOR WITH THE REGULATOR If breaker W1 of the regulator is put into posision "Excitation", self-acting excitation of generator takes place, when driving motor is started up. If excitation of generator is not taken place, the residual voltage value of generator should be checked. If the line-to-line residual voltage value is less than 15 V, generator should be additionally magnetized by connexion of constant potential source (for instance accumulator) to clamps Ft, F2 When additional magnetizing is realized the excitation of generator to the rated voltage Un should take place 3.3. VOLTAGE LEVEL ADJUSTMENT OF GENERATOR Controller Ri serves for accurate regulation of voltage level of © generator. The controller should assure the precise regulation of voltage in the range of (0.90 + 1.05) Un. Procedure of voltage regulation by means of controller Ri has been shown in point 2.4 ® IW the range of regulated voltage by means of potentiometer R1 is not sufficient to obtain the required regulation voltage values of generator, the winding regulation with additional secondary winding of measuring transformer YTP No 16,19 should be used. Regulating winding terminals are put to clamp plate inserted under the cover marked 16 of control box . The additional winding should be in series aiding or in series opposing connected with basic winding. Gonnexion of additional turns 2m-5m has to be done to clamp 1m Addition of regulating turns (connexion according to direction of arrows marked between clamps 2m-5m) causes the shifting down of regulation range of voltage, that is voltage decreasing of generator Subtraction of regulating turns (in opposing connexion to direction of arrows as above) causes the opposite effect 3.4. ADJUSTMENT OF REACTIVE POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM ~ PARALLEL RUNNING, Execution of external connection according to drawing S.124.05/AR is very important for the right running of generator at parallel running. Output clamps a - b of reactive power distribution systems should be connected by contacts of additional realy, working in the > system according to the drawing mentioned above. Before switching on generators into parallel running the conformability of voltages frequency and synchronous phase levels of generator should be tested in the generally known way. After switching on generator on common bus bar an accuracy of the reactive power distribution has to be checked at same various values of load current and power factor 0.8 ind. In the reactive power distribution system is regulated according to point 2.6. re-regulation is superfluous. If such necessity occurs, re-regulation by means of the reactive power distribution controller should to be done accordingto point 2.6. mentioned above. As a matter of fast a possibility of co-operation of generators equipped with others types of regulators ist not anticipated. eeEFA DTR-A-RNGY /D-124~AR-96/05 page : 22 pages : 45 3.5, DE-ENERGI ZING OF GENERATOR The regulator enables de-energizing generator without necessity for stopping the driving motor. In order to do t discinnect generator from network, then breaker W1, placed on the regulating elements strip. set into position "FIELD-SUPRESION". Re-setting of the breaker into position "EXCITATION" causes excitation of generator. De-energizing of generator can be also done on remonte way, by means of additional contactor, whose coil from the extraneous source (for instance accumulator of voltage 24 V) should be supplied Main contacts of the contactor to clamps 9R, 9S, 9T of the regulating elements strip should be connected, as it has been shown in drawing S.124.04/aR. 3.6. ADJUSTMENT OF CURRENT NEUTRALIZATION SYSTEM Manufactured regulators RNGY/D are adapted to parallel running of generators with the reactive power distribution system only. The neutralization system is short-circuited and is does not take part in work of the regulator In special events (break -down running, parallel running with break-down generator having analogous neutralization system) a work of the regulator with taking part of the current neutralization system is possible. In this event, switchable contacts of clamps 6K-Z and 81-Z placed under cover marked 16,19 of contro! box have to be disconnected In the event of parallel running of generators with the neutralization system only (there are no connexions between clamps a-b of the regulators) the regulators are insensitive for regulation with potentiometers of reactive power distribution Equalization of reactive power propagation can take place by correction of inclination of external characterictics It is done by change of winding regulation of compensation choke YDK No 19 and by adjustment of resistor 22, where - increase of turns number of winding of choke 19 causes increase of inclination of load with active power. - increase of resistance of resistor 22 causes increase of characteristics inclination of toad with reactive power The right regulated current neutralization system should ensure - voltage increase of generator at the load (0 + 1) In and cos $= 4, - practically the constant value of generator voltage at the load (0 + 1) In and cos $ = 0.8 ind 3.7. RUNNING OF GENERATOR WITH THE REGULATOR WITHOUT CONTROL UNIT —- BREAK - DOWN RUNNING Generator can co-operate with regulator RNGY/D without control unit (for instance break-down) on the condition of execution of adequate changes in factory's regulations of compounding systems. In order to prepare the regulator to work without controlling unit, the following actions should to be doneEFA DTR-A-RNGY /D-124-AR-96/05 page : 23 | pages : 45 = disconnet conductors of clamps 52,53,54 of control unit - put together clamps k - | of the current transformer (or conductors coming from these clamps) - decrease turns number of feeder reactor XDL so that the no-load running voltage would amount to Un Generator with the regulator without the control unit is not adopted to parallel running and accuracy of voltage stabilization exceeds over 2.5 % 3.8. ADJUSTMENT OF LIMITER GENERATOR’ S CURRENT ~ START-UP OF HIGH POWER ASYNCHRONOUS MOTORS In scheme connections according drawing S.124.04/AR make activation not @y loaded generator according to p.3.2. by start-up driving motor. Switch-on external supply 24V DC on terminals of regulator p(+) . r(- and next by rating speed of driving motor de-ener ng generator according to p.3.5 RP Connect to bus of generator U, V, W - motor appoint to start-up and make excitaion generator by switch breaker Wi in position “EXCITATION Make a note value of generator’s current during start-up, and jump value of driving motor's load after excitation of generator Should not exceed 15 sec time of start-up. If start-up of motor is too slowly , de-energizing generator and after except of slipper ZAR change adjust of potentiometr P1, turn by screwdriver axle of potentiometer on right (acc. with move hand of watch) that increase value of generator’s current - After above regulation make again start-up of motor by excitation of generator. Between next starts-up of motor should be keep adequate pause During above tests make a note of parameters of start-up. Regulation of limiter ending when requirements of start-up are satis~ factionally in time of start-up ( no more 15 sec) and jump load of dr ving motor (no more 50% rating power) 4. MAINTENANCE Maintenance of the regulators consists in making the periodical and ©@ general inspections. Activity of these inspections has been shown below Secure drive motor of generator against accidental starting up during inspection. In order to assurance the safety of service the warning tables forbidding to start no should be used 4.1. PERIODICAL INSPECTION At least once per year make inspections and clean interior of system by blowing through it with compressed air.Check the state of bolted, contact and solder joints, than the insulation state of elements of the regulator Special attention must paid to insulation of connexion conductors, external insulation of winding units and to state of surface of insulation plates. nsulated9.424. 02/A ® 444405 195 109 40 407 Elementy mg. ykazu W.124.01/A Ust of elements W.12401/4 Saenentee COrnacHO —W.I84.OI/A verzeicnmis der elemente nach W 24.04/A Prinzipschaliplan des Reglers RNGY/D Schemat ideono-montazowg, regul.
