Doctors Ready To Support Formula Milk Ban

The Indonesian Doctors Association plans to sanction doctors who promote baby formula for infants under 12 months old. This comes as the Health Ministry plans to ban advertisements for baby formula, especially in hospitals and healthcare centers. While some mothers face difficulties breastfeeding, proponents say breast milk contains ideal nutrients for newborns and no formula can replicate its nutritional value. The 2009 health law allows charges for anyone attempting to influence mothers to stop exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months.
