Chapter 9 Lines and Angles

This document discusses lines and angles, including definitions of angle measurement in degrees, classifications of angles, properties of parallel and intersecting lines, and relationships between complementary, supplementary, and vertically opposite angles. Specifically, it defines that the size of an angle is a measurement of rotation in degrees, parallel lines never intersect and remain the same distance apart, and when two straight lines intersect, the two pairs of vertically opposite angles are equal.

CHAPTER 9

LINES AND ANGLES

1. The size of an angle is a measurement of rotation.

2. The unit of measurement for angles is the degree ( ). 3. An angle is marked using the symbols < or . 4. Classification of angles:

5. The sum of angles on a straight line is 180.

6. The sum of angles at a point is 360.

7. Two lines that are always the same distance apart and never meet are parallel lines. 8. Intersecting lines are lines that cross each other at a point.

9. Two lines which intersect at right angles are perpendicular to each other.

AB is perpendicular to CD 10. Two angles which are next to each other are adjacent angles. 11. The sum of complementary angles is 90. 12. The sum of supplementary angles is 180. 13. When two straight lines intersect, 2 pairs of vertically opposite angles are equal.
