ActiviIspire Flipchart Rubric

This rubric evaluates flipcharts for use in an ACTIVInspire classroom environment based on 5 criteria: 1) Engagement and interactivity - The flipchart provides varied activities, higher-order thinking, opportunities for participation and feedback. 2) Assessment - It uses tools like ActiVotes for student contribution, debate, and formative/summative assessment. 3) Graphics and pictures - Images are attractive, well-placed and enhance the content. 4) Text color and backgrounds - Colors are easy to read and backgrounds add interest. 5) Organization and mechanics - Information is logical, directions are clear, and layout/grammar are accurate.

Curriculum Alignment Content specific and accurate and aligned to standards. Title, standards, essential questions and objectives contained on title page, in page notes and/or embedded elsewhere in the flipchart. Activities are varied and provide for a variety of learning styles. Includes activities that facilitate higher order thinking skills beyond simple recall. Activities and actions enhance content and facilitate class/student participation. Focus Tools (reveal, spotlight, zoom) are used to direct student attention. Provides multiple opportunities for interaction, response, and feedback. A wide variety of mediums are used to illustrate facts, concepts and procedures (images, web links, movies, sounds, actions, text, etc.) ActiVotes/Expressions are used for student contribution to the lesson, to stimulate debate or discussion, to assess agreement/disagreement on a topic or for pre, formative, and/or summative assessment for the purpose of informing instruction. Attractive and well placed. Enhance the content and add interest. Graphic organizers (sorting, Venn, compare/contrast) are utilized in ways that allow for student participation (individual or whole group). Pages are easy to read good choice of color and size. The Fill Tool is used with various colors to differentiate various concepts. Backgrounds are used to enhance content and add interest. Information is presented in a logical, interesting sequence that can easily be followed. Clear directions included on flipchart pages or in notes for each page of instruction or for each activity. Grammar, spelling, usage and mechanics are accurate. Layout of pages is aesthetic. Column Totals Overall Score
