Analysis of The System

The document analyzes the current system and proposes improvements. It identifies issues with the current username and password security system. A preliminary investigation surveyed users and the company about problems. Data flow diagrams and entity relationship diagrams were used to map the current and proposed systems at different levels of abstraction to effectively communicate solutions.

ANALYSIS OF THE SYSTEM

Identification of need Preliminary investigation Data flow diagrams

Identification of needs:
Security of the system can be defined as protecting the system from unauthorized access. At present security is done by using Username and Password. Username and Password system can sometime be known by some person and he can access the system. The administrator of the system cannot stop him to access if he is far from the system. The administrator has to come near to the system and start an application he wants.

Preliminary Investigation:

Initially the users of the system who typed Username and password were surveyed and their problems (above listed problems) were known. The company people were also surveyed and even their problems were known. Later the need was identified, overall objectives were defined and at the end the outline area was identified.

Data Flow Diagrams:

A Data Flow Diagram also known as a bubble chart provides a logical map of problem before suggesting a specific solution and they have proved to be a fast and effective method of communication among system analyst and are effective means of conducting dialog with users. There are three levels of DFDs: Context level DFD Top level DFD Detailed level DFD

CONTEXT LEVEL DFD OF THE EXISTING SYSTEM

Entity relationship diagram (E-R):

Entity Relationship diagram is a network model that describes stored data layout of a system at a high level of abstraction.
