GEEK-SPEAK Let your mind write this paper and not your hand The goal of organizing "GEEK

SPEAK" is to encourage creative, innovative thinking and cultivate a competitive spirit among students. Its aim is to test the knowledge of students about the various fields of research and innovation in the Computer Science Industry and how eloquently they can present their views. TOPICS Driver less Car Project-"Reality in India?"

In your abstract and presentation, explain in brief the concepts on which the above mentioned project is based and what the developments in this area until now are. Your main focus should be whether it is a feasible solution in a country like India. If yes, then give its advantages and if not, then what could be the challenges of introducing it in our country. Cloud Computing- Is it reachable to the common man?

In your abstract and presentation, you have to present your views about whether cloud computing reaches a common man. If you think it does, then explain its benefits to the commoners. Otherwise, explain how you think they can be introduced to the cloud. . Android-How can you improve upon it? In your abstract and presentation, you can explain briefly the features that make Android an open source software. Also, give your viewpoints as a developer if you feel
there are some drawbacks with the latest version of Android, and explain how you can modify/improve them to suit your own needs, with it being Open Source and up for modifications.

General Rules
1 Any undergraduate or masters student of any discipline is eligible to participate in this event. However PhD students and research scholars are not allowed to present their papers 2 Each team may have a maximum of three members. 3 No team is allowed to send more than one entry for the same departmental cell, but you are free to send multiple entries provided your papers are related to different cells. 4 Each category will have three prizes and participation certificates for all the participants. 5 This event will be conducted in two stages and its detailed procedures have been clarified below.

STAGE-I: Abstract Submissions

1) Participants are needed to send in the abstract of the original/review work including the references, the idea proposed with figures (if needed) to

2) Abstract should not exceed 500 words and the covering page of the abstract must have Name(s), Institution of study, Email address(s), contact number(s), Name of the cell you wish to present the paper in, & Topic of paper presentation. 3) Your email should have the category name as your subject and your file name should have the title of the concerned paper. For Example, A paper on simulation of a Hydrocracker unit in a refinery unit should have its mail subject as Modeling, Simulation, Design and Process Control and its title as Simulation of Hydrocracker unit. 4) Selection to the next round for final presentations will be based on the abstract submitted.

5) Deadline for Abstract Submissions is 15TH February 2012. 6) The result for the first round will be put up on the website till 17 February 2012 and will also be mailed to you. 7) For any particular queries regarding paper presentations, please contact the event coordinators (contacts have been mentioned below).

STAGE-II: Full Paper Submissions

The second round will be conducted at IIT Roorkee during COGNIZANCE 2012 (23-25 March). 1) Participants should submit their full paper in .doc and .pdf format. You need to bring three hardcopies of your complete paper (i.e. printed report) & two passport size photographs of each participant along with all the necessary details attached. 2) Formatting rules should be strictly followed. A font type of Bookman Old Style with a font size of 12 should be kept. 3) Participants should ensure that their papers include all relevant figures, tables and bibliography. 4) Submissions, in any case, should not exceed 12 pages in length, double-columned.

Final Presentations 1) Final Presentations should be in .ppt format strictly and should be timed for 15 min. (12 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for Question and Answer round. 2) The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
