PARAMEDIC PROGRAM

Paramedic Fall ProgramWaxahachie Campus August-June (Fall, Spring, and Summer I semesters) Classes meet Tuesday-Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Paramedic Spring ProgramWaxahachie Campus January-February (Spring, Summer, Fall and the beginning of the following Spring semesters). Classes meet on A shift schedule.

Flexibility Daytime programs begin every fall and spring semester. Expertise Navarro College uses instructors who are experts in their field. Instructors are members of the Navarro College family and include full-time and adjunct faculty. All are experienced paramedics either currently employed or retired. Each instructor is interviewed and chosen based on their knowledge, command of subject matter and instructor certification. Resources Navarro College has the ability to provide all necessary resources to help make a class successful. New computers, textbooks, curriculum, and other instructional equipment are available to help ensure the highest quality instruction. College Credit Most importantly, the Navarro College Paramedic Program offers college academic CREDIT! All classes are academic classes and students finish with 33 credit hours. Degree Paramedic Certificate hours apply to the AAS Paramedic Degree. Pre-Requisites Must have current TXDSHS EMT Basic Certification; be TSI Complete; CPR-Healthcare (current through duration of Paramedic classes); and successfully completed Anatomy & Physiology (BIOL 2401/2404) or be enrolled for the first semester beginning the Paramedic program. Tuition $3,500 (approximately) Tuition is based on out-of-district rates. If you live in-district (Navarro County) tuition may be less. Malpractice insurance included. Registration must be completed with the Fire/EMS Dept. in building A on the Waxahachie Campus. Students are encouraged to contact this office as soon as possible for full registration requirements. (972) 923-6447 Procedures for Admission Fill out application for admission to Navarro College www.navarrocollege.edu/admissions Submit high school diploma or GED and all required OFFICIAL transcripts ASAP to the registrars office. Schedule and complete assessment tests (unless exempt) Accuplacer Test: $29 fee. Complete remediation courses, if necessary. Submit shot records to the Fire/EMS Dept. Register for classes in the Fire/EMS Dept. Building A, Waxahachie. Submit Medical Release, provided by the Fire/EMS Dept., completed by student and physician to the Fire/EMS Dept. Current Immunizations Hepatitis B (Complete series of three) Tuberculosis Test (current to one year) Measles, Mumps, Rubella (Series of two shots needed) Two Varicella doses, or positive titer. Tetanus shot must be current within the last year. If older than 1 year, must have TDAP Booster. Flu ShotCurrent Bacterial Meningitis for Admission purposes. Shot records must be complete and verified before registration. Books are available in the Navarro College Bookstore in Waxahachie. Costs are approximate. Caroline, Emergency Care in Streets; $184 Caroline, Emergency Care in the Streets; Workbook, $102 Skills Packets. $23 Uniforms are required to be worn daily throughout the program. Navarro College EMS uniform Navy blue polo shirt (available in the bookstore), Approx. $20.00 Dark blue EMS pants (w/belt loops) Black belt Black polishable boots Navy blue zip jacket (available in bookstore) Approx. $34 Stethoscope Medical shears Pen light Safety glasses Drug Screen/Background Check EMS program will administer a 10-panel drug screen, as well as a criminal background check. Student failure in either will result in dismissal from the program. Social Security Card A Social Security number is required for EMS clinical course requirements.
