Double Roll Crushers are crushing:

These powerful and durable crushers offer many advantages including: High capacity Low headroom Low Horsepower Ability to handle wet, sticky feeds Cubical product Minimum fines production Ability to handle feed sizes ranging from 6-10-12 (or larger where needed) make this crusher ideal as a secondary reduction stage after a feeder-breaker or single roll crusher. Simplified design gives this unit excellent reliability and requires very little maintenance. Rule of thumb: ratio of reduction usually does not exceed 4 to 1, however, 6 to 1 can be achieved on certain applications. A ratio of 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 is desirable for abrasive feeds.

General Design Features


Base Frame and Hopper
All fabricated steel construction, made from steel plate and shapes, heavily ribbed and gusseted for maximum strength and rigidity. Hopper is provided with renewable A.R. steel liners. Flanged inlet opening is designed for attachment of auxiliary feed chute. Roll covers have removable access covers to allow for periodic maintenance and inspection of rolls.

Bearings
Heavy-duty, self-aligning, anti-friction spherical roller bearings support the roll shafts. They are adapter mounted and grease lubricated, and contained in heavysection, fabricated steel housings. A renewable wearing plate is located between the sliding bearing and the base frame to prevent wear on bearing base. Taconite-type bearing seals and an automatic grease lubricator are optional. Water-cooled bearings and/or roll shafts can be supplied for handling hot materials. A renewable wearing frame to prevent wear on bearing base.

Effective Tramp Iron Protection


Automatic protection against steel, refuse and other uncrushables is provided by a special toggle arrangement. The toggle opens and the movable roll moves back, creating a large opening to pass the uncrushable material.The toggle mechanism provides positive product size control and the torsion bar and linkage behind the movable roll assure parallel alignment of the rolls at all times.

Guards
Double Roll Crushers are furnished complete with necessary personnel guards.

Dust Seals
Dust seals around the roll shafts prevent dust from escaping into the atmosphere. V-belt drive guards are offered optionally.

Roll Design
Roll shells are available in a variety of alloys for processing the feed material. The roll surface may include various crushing elements, such as intermeshing teeth, welded beads, fluted and smoothfaced or a combination of smooth and beaded - all designed to readily grab the feed material and reduce it to desired product size with minimum fines. In addition to the standard roll shells, roll segments can be provided for certain applications.

Hydraulic Size Adjustment


Product size adjustment is achieved by means of a hydraulic mechanism operating through the torsion bar. Steel shims of varying thicknesses are used to maintain the setting while the crusher is in operation. A simple double-acting cylinder with hand pump is provided for rapid adjustment. (This feature is optional on Black Diamond Double Roll Crushers. A turnbuckle adjustment is standard.)

Powerful, high capacity crusher for secondary and tertiary reduction of limestone, gravel, gypsum, ores, mine refuse, slag and similar hard materials. Advantages: Minimum fines, cubical product, handles wet, sticky feeds, low headroom, low power consumption, quiet operation, minimum maintenance.

DRIVES
A separate drive for each roll is used with this crusher, resulting in quiet operation, minimum vibration, and capability for adjustment within a wide range of roll settings. Flywheels are grooved and balanced and are of extra heavy-duty design, with heavy rims to carry through peak load operations. Locking rings used to secure flywheels to shafts allow for ease of removal when required.

GUARDS
The Heavy Duty Double Roll Crusher is furnished complete with necessary personnel guards. Optional Vbelt drive guards are also available.

DUST SEALS
Dust seals around the roll shafts prevent dust from escaping into the atmosphere. Housing is semi-dust tight.

TOGGLE
Automatic protection of the Crusher against steel, refuse and other uncrushables is provided by a special toggle arrangement. The toggle opens and the movable roll moves back, creating a large opening to pass the uncrushable material. The toggle then returns the roll automatically to the exact desired setting. This toggle mechanism provides positive product size control. The torsion bar and linkage behind the movable roll assure parallel alignment of the rolls at all times.

For crushing coal, coke - (petroleum and metallurgical), salt, lime, lightweight aggregates, glass and other friable materials. This is a rugged, simple and efficient crusher engineered for great economy when used on the type of materials for which it is recommended. The Black Diamond Double Roll Crusher is generally used for secondary, tertiary and additional stage reduction, where the crushing ratio does not exceed 4 to 1. However, it can also be effective for primary use, depending on size of feed, friability of material and other factors.

RUBBER TIRE DRIVE


Stationary and movable rolls are connected by a pair of rubber tires in tight contact, which allows both rolls to be driven by a single motor. V-belts connect the motor drive to a flywheel mounted on the stationary roll shaft. This type of drive is recommended for applications that call for a medium range of adjustment, minimum noise and vibration. V-belt drive guards are quoted as an option.

DUAL FLYWHEEL DRIVE


Recomended when a wider range of adjustment is required or when products less than 1/2 are desired. A flywheel is mounted on each roll shaft, with V-belt drive and a separate motor required for each. This arrangement results in quiet operation, low vibration and lower maintenance than gear driven units. The movable roll drive motor (not shown) is mounted on a spring loaded base for proper V-belt tensioning.
