ABSTRACT

The idea here is to use an ordinary cell phone as the modem attached permanently with a switching circuit. This entire unit now becomes the receiver unit. The modem cell phone is assigned with desired numbers, for example the owners cell number and a few other numbers of the owners family members. When the modem cell phone is called through these assigned numbers, the modem ring tone becomes active and this ring tone is applied to the control circuit and is processed for operating a relay and the connected load. Since the modem cell phone needs to be attached permanently inside the switching unit, it needs to be charged at regular intervals so that it remains functional all the time.

SURVERY REPORT

1. No need to travel a long distance to switch on/off motor 2. Just a missed call to switch on/off motor so no call charges 3. In-built: Single phase preventer 4. Protects the motor from low voltage and high voltage 5. Farmers life saves from snake bite and attack of wild animals. In agricultural India, farmers have to walk miles daily to operate their irrigation pumps. Rampant power cuts with no fixed time slots further add to their plight. After reaching the field, they find out that power supply is not available. Mobile Controller is helping farmers solve this challenge. Device helps them check availability of power supply and switch pumps ON/OFF remotely via a missed call.

11

1.2

TECHNOLOGY & PROCESS

When power supply is available Device equipped with a SIM card is installed at Domestic area. SIM card is programmed to respond to missed calls from specific number (cell phone number of person). When person makes a missed call to SIM fitted in device, on first missed call motor is turned ON .second missed call switches the motor OFF person mobile phone confirming the task.

12

1.3 PRINCIPLE

Basically the unit employs a very fundamental principle of converting the ringtone of a cell phone into a command output for operating a relay. This cell phone acts as a modem and is permanently attached with the internal control circuit of the unit. The modem cell phone is initially made ready by putting a SIM card inside it and by configuring the essential assigned numbers into its phone directory. These assigned numbers are the only numbers to which this modem responds. Therefore you would want to assign only those numbers through which you may like to make a call to the system.

13

14

1.4

DESCRIPTION

Now you can control any electrical gadget from any part of the world through your cell phone, that too without spending a penny for the individual commands. Whether its you vehicle, your basement door, your mansion gate or simply the air conditioner of your house, everything can now be switched by just a flick of your cell phone button. And mind you, its completely fool proof, meaning no false triggering is possible through any other cell phone signals, it works only through the owners cell phone commands.

15

CH-2 BLOCK DIAGRAM

16

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

Just fix mobile controller near existing button starter. Insert the SIM card into SIM card tray. Make simple wiring connection between mobile controller and appliances. Make a call from administrator mobile to mobile controller sim number. Vice-versa to switch ON/OFF the appliances.

HOW TO ASSIGN NUMBERS INSIDE THE MODEM CELL PHONE

It's very easy. Just follow the following steps. Save the names and the numbers which are important and through which you want the above unit to be operated. Next select a particular name-->--press scroll right-->--"contact details" will be displayed-->-- press options-->--scroll down-->-- select "assign tone"-->--select a ring tone which has a sustained, non-breaking tune-->--do OK.

Repeat this for all the desired numbers. Now go to settings, go to tone settings and select "empty", press OK. That means now you have switched OFF the default ringtone and no ringtone will be audible for any numbers other than the above assigned ones. So you can be rest assured that the system will not respond to wrong numbers or any unknown numbers. It will respond to only the calls made from the assigned numbers.

17

CH-3 WORKING OF CIRCUIT DIAGRAM

18

DISCREPTION

The above diagram is rather very easy to understand. It may be divided into two main stages, the lower stage consisting of the transistors is a simple audio amplifier, the upper stage consisting of IC is the flip flop triggering stage. When a signal is present at the 3.5mm jack, which might be the input ring-tone from the cell phone modem. Optocoupler amplifier to some greater level, which sufficient for triggering the relay. relay instantly connects the supply to the input of the flip flop its N/O contacts. Note that RL1 will remain switched ON as long as the ring tone is present and will switch OFF the moment the ring tone or the signal over the 3.5mm jack is canceled. The period for which RL1 remains switched ON will have no consequence on the flip flop operation, the flip flop will switch ON and OFF in response to every subsequent missed call made from the owners cell phone.

The section comprising the IC 7805 is battery charger section, which needs to be connected to the battery charger input of the cell phone. The charger will keep the cell phone battery always charged so that it remains functional all the time.

COMPONENTS

20

OPTOCOUPLER

An Optocoupler, also called opto-isolator, is an electronic component that transfers an electrical signal or voltage from one part of a circuit to another or from one circuit to another, while electrically isolating the two circuits from each other. It consists of an infrared emitting LED chip that is optically in-line with a light-sensitive silicon semiconductor chip, all enclosed in the same package. The silicon chip could be in the form of a photo diode, photo transistor, photo Darlington, or photo SCR.

LED

A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source.[4] LEDs are used as indicator lamps in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. Appearing as practical electronic components in 1962,[5] early LEDs emitted low-intensity red light, but modern versions are available across the visible, ultraviolet, and infrared , with very high brightness.

21

LDR

A photoresistor or light dependent resistor (LDR) is a resistor whose resistance decreases with increasing incident light intensity; in other words, it exhibits photoconductivity. A photoelectric device can be either intrinsic or extrinsic. An intrinsic semiconductor has its own charge carriers and is not an efficient semiconductor, for example, silicon. In intrinsic devices the only available electrons are in the valence band, and hence the photon must have enough energy to excite the electron across the entire bandgap.

DIODE

In electronics, a diode is a two-terminal electronic component with an asymmetric transfer characteristic, with low (ideally zero) resistance to current flow in one direction, and high (ideally infinite) resistance in the other. A semiconductor diode, the most common type today, is a crystalline piece of semiconductor material with a p-n junction connected to two electrical terminals.[1] A vacuum tube diode, now used only in some high-power technologies and by enthusiasts, is a vacuum tube with two electrodes, a plate (anode) and filament (cathode).

transistor found

commonly in European electronic equipment. The part number is assigned by Pro Electron, which allows many manufacturers to offer electrically and physically interchangeable parts under one identification. The BC548 is commonly available in European Union countries. It is often the first type of bipolar transistor young hobbyists encounter, and is often featured in circuit diagrams and designs published in hobby electronics magazines.

IC 4017

The 4000 series is a family of industry standard integrated circuits (IC) which implement a variety of logic functions using Complementary MetalOxideSemiconductor (CMOS)

technology, and are still in use today. They were introduced by RCA as CD4000 COS/MOS series in 1968, as a lower power and more versatile alternative to the 7400 series of TTL logic chips. Almost all IC manufacturers active during the era fabricated chips from this series. RCA sometimes advertised the line as COSMOS, standing for Complementary Symmetry Metal-Oxide Semiconductor. The naming system followed the RCA convention of

23

CA for analog, CD for digital, but did not relate to the Texas Instruments SN7400 series numbering scheme.

The CD4007 on a bread board

4000 series parts have the advantage of lower power consumption, wider range of supply voltages (3 V to 15 V), and simpler circuit design due to the vastly increased fanout. However their slower speed (initially about 1 MHz operation, compared with bipolar TTL's 10 MHz) limits their applications to static or slow speed designs. New fabrication technology has largely overcome the speed problems, while retaining backward compatibility with most circuit designs. Although all semiconductors can be damaged by electrostatic discharge, the high impedance of CMOS inputs makes them more susceptible than bipolar transistor-based, TTL, devices. Eventually, the advantages of CMOS (especially the later series such as 74HC) edged out the older TTL chips, but at the same time ever increasing LSI techniques edged out the modular chip approach to design. The 4000 series is still widely available, but perhaps less important than it was two decades ago.

APPLICATIONS

The explained circuit must be employed strictly for operating only the following specified equipment: All domestic electrical appliances like, lights, fans, motors, TV sets, refrigerators, Air conditioners, washing machine, porch lights, garage door, house gate, basement gate or entrance, car ignition, car doors, water heater etc. However, system that involves DC control features and therefore is not suited for controlling AC appliances. The unit discussed here is a universal device and can be used for operating all types of electrical gadgets from any part of the globe, just by making a single blank call to the systems number. The system will faithfully respond to every call made from your cell phone and will alternately switch the connected load ON and OFF as per your instructions. The series was extended in the late 1970s and 1980s to include new types which implemented new functions, or were better versions of existing chips in the 4000 series. Most of these newer chips were given 45xx and 45xxx designations, but are usually still regarded by engineers as part of the 4000 series. In the 1990s, some manufacturers (e.g. Texas Instruments) ported the 4000 series to their newer HCMOS technology with devices such as the 74HCT4060 providing equivalent functionality to a 4060 IC but with greater speed.

FUTURE EXPANSION
For safety reasons more than one number is assigned to the modem so that in case one of your cell phones is out of order or has low battery, you always have the option of using the other cell phone for triggering the system. The biggest advantage of the design is that, any cheap NOKIA cell phone can be used here as the modem and therefore theres no fear of the modem becoming obsolete. No need to point the remote to the device as in infrared remote. Not limited by distance [range] as in RF [Radio frequency] remote.
