Describe the advantages of implementing database management system in an organization. Draw and describe the three tier architecture of database management system. What do you understand by E R Diagram? Explain with a suitable example. What do you mean by a key? Differentiate among candidate key, primary key, super key and foreign key. (e) Draw the overall structure of DBMS. (f) Explain specialization and aggregation with the help of an example. Q2 Attempt any two of the following: (a) Dark attribute shows the primary key of a table (Relation) (10*2)

1. Find the customer names and their loan numbers for all customers having a loan at some branch. 2. Find all customers who have a loan, an account, or both 3. Find all customers who have both a loan and an account. 4. Find all customers who have an account but no loan. 5. Find the number of depositors for each branch.

Explain terms referential integrity, entity integrity, domain constraints, and explicit constraints.

(i) Explain the domain calculus and tuple calculus (ii) Explain the ALTER, TRUNCATE, COMMIT, UPDATE & ROLLBACK commands.

(a) Explain lossy and lossless join decomposition? Consider the relation R(X,Y,Z,W,P,Q) F(XY->W, XW->P, PQ->Z, XY->Q), R1(Z,P,Q), R2(X,Y,Z,P,Q) determine wheather the decomposition is lossy or lossless using the lossless join algorithm. (b) Explain PJNF with example? What do you understand by Functional dependency preservation.
(c) What do you mean by normalization? Explain the 3NF and BCNF with example.

(b) Explain the various types of database parallelism. Also explain partition parallelism and pipeline parallelism in databases. How parallel database operations can be implemented ? Give one example. (c) Explain the architecture of a distributed database system. List its advantages and disadvantages. Discuss the implementation issues related with distributed databases. Q5 Attempt any two: (a) Explain Data ware housing with suitable diagram. (b) (i) Explain Data Extraction & Cleanup (ii)Explain Tools used in Data Ware Housing (c) Short note on any two (10*2)
