Skills Gap Analysis

Skills gap analysis identifies the skills required for a job by reviewing the job description and compares them to an employee's existing skills to measure any gaps. The analysis determines the required competencies and skills for a position and rates an employee's current level for each to identify where training or coaching could help close gaps between the skills required for the role and an individual's present abilities.

Skills gap analysis is the same is competence gap analysis This is done in the following Manner.

You identify what are the skills required to the job per position using the job description You Identify what are the skills owned by the employee You measure the Gap between the existing skills in the employee and what is required by the job The you arrange the necessary training, coaching in order to close the gap between required and existing Example:
Competency/ Skills Intellectual Analytical Problem-Solving Innovation Strategic Vision Commercial Awareness Clear Written Communication Technological Orientation 1 Poor Fit 2 Marginal Fit 3 Acceptable Fit 4 Good Fit 5 Excellent Fit

Green Indicator is Required by the Job Red Indicator is The employee Level
