GETTING STARTED
Thank you for purchasing Hunter Douglas Silhouette or Nantucket window shadings. With proper installation, operation, and care, your new shadings will provide years of beauty and performance. Please thoroughly review this instruction booklet before beginning the installation.
Required Components
Universal Cord Tensioner (UCT) Installation Kit for EasyRise Shadings. The UCT functions as a safety device that makes the cords less accessible to children and pets. The cord control will only function properly if the UCT is installed correctly.
tions
Brackets Required 2 3 4 5
Optional Components
Extension Brackets. Extension brackets can add up to 312" of clearance for outside mounts. If ordered, there should be the same number of extension brackets as installation brackets. Spacer Blocks. Each spacer block projects the installation bracket away from the mounting surface. If ordered, there should be a maximum of three spacer blocks per installation bracket for standard and oversized headrail systems. IMPORTANT: The Quartette 4" headrail can only use one spacer block per bracket.
GETTING STARTED
Hold-Down Brackets. Hold-down brackets secure the bottom rail from movement (i.e. often used in French door applications). Hold-down brackets are required for Tilt-Only shadings, but are not available for Two-On-One Headrail shadings.
In addition, you will need fasteners designed to work with your specic mounting surface(s). #6 Hex Head Screws (Provided). Two 112" screws are provided per installation bracket. Longer #6 Hex Head Screws (Not Provided). If using spacer blocks, use a #6 mounting screw long enough for a secure attachment. Wall Anchors (Not Provided). If mounting into drywall, you will need wall anchors to ensure a secure installation. Speed Nuts and Screws (Provided). Extension brackets come with screws and speed nuts.

Use pliers to break off the top tab of each installation bracket. Save this tab once removed. It may be used as a shim, as described Top Tab later in these instructions. Remove the bottom tab on each installation bracket only if it interferes with the bracket installation. If more than two installation brackets came with your order, space additional bracket(s) evenly between the two end brackets and mark their location.

The depth required for minimum mounting or fully recessed mounting will vary depending on the type of headrail and vane size. Refer to the chart above for depth requirements.
Use a level to check that the mounting surface is level. Shim the brackets using the top tab that was removed from the bracket, if necessary.
INSTALLATION
Use a 332" drill bit to drill holes for the mounting screws. IMPORTANT: If you are fastening the installation brackets into drywall only, be sure to use wall anchors and follow the instructions provided with the anchors. (Anchors not provided.) Use the two hex head screws provided to fasten each installation bracket to the mounting surface. IMPORTANT: Do not over tighten the screws. Check to ensure the lever can be moved easily side to side. If the lever is not moving easily, loosen the screws in 1/8 of a turn increments until it can be moved easily. IMPORTANT: The front edges of the installation brackets must be level and aligned to each other.
Use pliers to break off both tabs of each installation bracket. If more than two installation brackets came with your order, space additional bracket(s) evenly between the two end brackets and mark their location. Center each installation bracket on the previously made marks and mark the location of the screw holes. CAUTION: The rear of the blocks/brackets must be ush against a at mounting surface. Do not mount brackets on curved molding. A minimum 11/8" at vertical height is required to mount the installation brackets. The top of the installation brackets should be at the desired height. The brackets should be level and aligned. Using a 332" drill bit, drill holes for the mounting screws. IMPORTANT: If you are fastening the installation brackets into drywall only, be sure to use wall anchors and follow the instructions provided with the anchors. (Anchors not provided.)
INSTALLATION
Fasten each installation brackets to the mounting surface using two of the hex head screw provided. IMPORTANT: The front edges of the installation brackets must be level and aligned to each other.
If using spacer blocks or extension brackets, fasten these to a at vertical mounting surface with two screws long enough for a secure installation. (Screws not provided.)
Spacer Blocks
When using extension brackets, attach an installation bracket to the underside of each extension bracket using the provided screws and speed nuts.

WARNING: It is imperative that the cord tensioner be properly secured to the wall or window frame to reduce childrens access to the cord loop. Young children can strangle in cord loops. They can also wrap cords around their necks and strangle.
CAUTION: The shading will not operate properly unless the cord tensioner is secured. A cord tensioner installation kit has been included with your shading. Follow the instructions in the kit to correctly secure the cord tensioner.

Dots
Remove the remaining paper backing from the dots. Center the dust cover over the top of the shading, above the previously placed dots. Press the dust cover down onto the dots.

OPERATION Troubleshooting
Problem
Vanes do not align on side-by-side shadings.
Solution
Vane alignment is only guaranteed within 1/4" when shadings are ordered at the same time, at the same height, with the same color and fabric, and when specied on the order form. Check that the windows are square and the same height.
Shadings cannot be forced into tight inside mount window openings. If an inside mount, check that the shading is installed correctly. Make sure there is clearance between the ends of the shading and the window casement. Check that the installation brackets are level. Shim to level, if necessary. If hold-down brackets are used, make sure they have been released. Make sure the fabric is not caught.
Two-On-One Headrail Ensure the dual rotator support bracket is centered on the panel split. See Two-On-One Headrail Shadings on page 4. Shadings The center gap is not Ensure the entire length of the headrail is straight and level. even from the top If the center portion of the headrail is higher than the ends, to the bottom of the the center gap will close together. If the center portion of the shading, interfering headrail is lower than the ends, the center gap increases. If with the function of the necessary, adjust the height of each bracket by moving it within shading. the slots or by using shims. The shading will not snap into the installation brackets. Check that the installation brackets are aligned and level. Check that the locking tab on the installation bracket slides over the headrail.
