The recent explosion of research in watermarking to protect intellectual property is evidence that steganography is not just limited to military or espionage applications. Steganography, like cryptography, will play an increasing role in the future of secure communication in the “digital world”.

Learning Material for OSMTracker on Android Phones Welcome, Mapper! So you have decided to do some mapping. Great! Let us help you get going right away. This guide will provide you step-by-step instructions for installing and using GPS-enabled Android phones.

1. Before the Field Visit


Before going to the field, you will need to install OSMTracker (or its equivalent) on to your android phone. So let us first introduce you to the term OSMTracker along with its features. OSMTracker OSMTracker (Android) is a mobile application used to track and save both positional (such as latitude/longitude) and non-positional (such as names and other descriptions) data of Points of Interest (POIs) such as Dharahara. If you have to save the details of Dharahara then OSMTracker can be used to save both its positional data ( its actual location) and non-positional data (date it was constructed, the number of stories, height of the structure etc.) InstallOSMTracker Download and install OSMTracker from Google Play. (You will need an internet connection to download the installer. Else you will have to obtain a copy of the installer from an offline source. Most probably this will be another device, which has already downloaded the installer). If OSMTracker does not appear in your App list even after its successful installation, then restart the phone. Features of OSMTracker 1. It allows you to track your journey and mark significant way points. 2. Way points can be marked with a tag using a button: with a quick voice record, a text note, or by taking a picture.

2. Using OSMTracker in the Field


1. Run OSMTracker. You will see the following screen[Figure 1]. the GPS locates your position. (GPS tracking works best under open sky.)

2. Press Options -> New track to start recording a new track. In some devices, you can do the same by pressing the + icon in the upper right corner of the screen to begin recording a new track. If it asks you to activate GPS, accept it. 3. The buttons on the interface [Figure 2] will be disabled until

4. Touch the Take picture button to take a photograph of the POI (Point of Interest). This picture will be attached along your GPS track giving us precise location where it was taken. Later this photo will be used to upload the respective POI onto

Taking pictures is just one of the many options available in OSMTracker. You can also take a video, record an audio dip or take good ol text notes.

1. Go to the Track List (Touch theBack button). 2. Long press on the Track with a clock sign on the right, then press Stop tracking. 3. Long press on Previous Track and press Export as GPX (it can be identified by the date and time the tracking started). Following this, a green dot appears on the right side of the Track. 4.
